As the Project Manager (Mechanical Procurement), you will lead HVAC/mechanical procurement from award through closeout—executing the buyout strategy, managing vendor performance, and ensuring equipment and materials arrive on time and per contract. You will partner with Clayco project teams, design partners, and field leadership to coordinate submittals, releases, logistics, and change management while maintaining strong supplier relationships and driving favorable commercial outcomes.
The Specifics of the Role
- Develop and execute project-specific mechanical procurement strategies from award to closeout, aligned to schedule, budget, and project standards.
- Lead vendor sourcing, qualification, and negotiations; establish and maintain relationships with OEMs, reps, distributors, fabricators, and service partners.
- Manage contracts/purchase orders for mechanical scopes (equipment, materials, services); track compliance to terms, insurance, and deliverables.
- Coordinate and manage the submittal process (equipment, specialties, controls, startup requirements), including review cycles and release milestones.
- Own order management and expediting: monitor lead times, manufacturing progress, FATs (when applicable), shipping, storage, and just-in-time deliveries.
- Drive coordination with field teams on access, rigging/setting plans, sequencing, and site constraints; resolve delivery and installation conflicts early.
- Manage changes: evaluate impacts, price change orders, document scope, and coordinate approvals with vendors and the project team.
- Approve invoices as required; verify received quantities, freight, tax, and alignment to progress/billing terms.

- Proven ability to manage multiple vendors and schedules simultaneously, including long-lead equipment and logistics constraints.
- Strong commercial acumen: contract terms, negotiations, escalation, freight, warranty/service provisions, and risk management.

The Site Safety Supervisor will provide support to the Project Staff and the Clayco safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. This will include, but is not limited to, assisting in development of a zero injury safety culture on each project, conducting at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, effectively communicate orientations for all new project workers, assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis, actively promote and participate in daily stretch and flex program, identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents, support corporate goals and initiatives, emphasize and support proactive safety such as near miss/hazard reporting, coach and recognize workers on safe work methods, report all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols and be a champion in motivating workers to perform their jobs safely! Your responsibilities will be all encompassing for each project you will be dedicated to.
The Specifics of the Role
- Assist in development of the project safety program.
- Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
- Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program.
- Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor’s activity on site.

- Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.

- Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
- Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
- Establish and maintain all required safety records.
- Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.

The Role We Want You For
The Electrical Preconstruction Manager will participate in all aspects of the preconstruction process for electrical systems to develop accurate, detailed cost estimates with a focus on heavy/ advanced manufacturing, industrial and mission critical projects. This role will be expected to interact with engineers, architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, a multi-discipline estimating team, project supervision, and field personnel.
The Specifics of the Role
- Periodically attend pre-bid meetings to become familiar with unique project requirements and analyze existing site conditions to determine required scope that is not already indicated.
- Review and interpret project documents to determine job-specific material, equipment, and labor requirements for scope development.
- Assist in preparing written scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers and coordinating electrical scopes with the work of other trades (e.g., civil, structural, architectural, mechanical etc.).
- Participate in pre-proposal design coordination meetings to support the development of pricing documents for conceptual estimates.
- Perform quantity survey of electrical systems and components using digitized software, and apply industry standard labor rates (e.g., MCAA, PHCC, etc.) to support the development of accurate cost estimates.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor for conformance with proposal requirements; level scopes and identify low cost/ best value responses while capturing assumptions, rationale, inclusions, exclusions, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of estimates used for bidding and budgeting purposes (including self-performed work); participate in internal estimate review process and assist with final recap of estimate for presentation to senior management.
- Support project management tasks, including budgeting, schedule development, interim design review, change order pricing, procurement, value engineering, and vendor selection based on proposal development.
- Coordinate with project teams to evaluate productivity for historical data and schedule/ cost forecasting purposes.
- Perform quantity survey of completed designs and/ or past projects to support historical cost data collection and analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or a combination of education (including trade schools) and professional experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in construction with 3+ years of experience estimating electrical systems.

The Specifics of the Role
- Responsible for the organization and direction of all on-site construction related activities and the primary contact for all project field activities.
- Ensure construction operations are in compliance with design, specifications, and that construction operations are completed on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
- Responsible for site management including management of construction subcontractors, professional staff to include field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and workforce services. Responsible for managing and maintaining detailed daily reports.
- Ensures the development and execution of project automation plan, environmental compliance plan, safety plan, site survey plan, non-manual staffing plan, subcontracting plan, labor strategy, construction execution plan, and job-site work rules.
- Responsible for implementation of Clayco’s safety program, security, housekeeping, and fire protection on the construction site and ensures strict adherence Federal and State safety codes.
- Ensures the field organization is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and ensures effective personnel utilization.
- Establishes and implements construction schedules, methods, manning charts, material, and equipment requirements.
- Responsible for field project performance and analyzes performances for adherence to quality standards and schedules.
- Plans and establishes procedures to ensure all construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
- Ensures Clayco’s policies and procedures are fully implemented.
- Establishes project field procedures to be worked in conjunction with the Clayco’s standards, as necessitated by project conditions.
- Collaborates with the jobsite team to ensure labor harmony throughout the project.
- Partners with the project management team to maintain effective client relationship and is the primary contact for client's communication with the field activities.
- Maintains effective relationships with other functional departments.
- Develops, implements, and administers a job-site security plan and coordinates the activities with Clayco’s security department.
- Works with the project management team to participate in all job-site's contractual activities. Participates in contracts and subcontracts negotiations.
- Participates in the development and implementation of a training program to ensure subordinate personnel receives progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities and is responsible for overall development of construction training and any testing as required.
- Works with Clayco’s safety team in the development of the project safety program and ensures strict adherence to Company, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Ensures the implementation of an effective community relations plan for the site.
- Ensures required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at site.
- Responsible and accountable for construction license reporting to include construction Logbook entries and required notifications for permit closure.
- Partners with the project management team for the implementation of cost savings methodologies in the Construction organization and the promotion of other continuous improvement processes.
- Ensures development and execution of strategies and plans for project automation, environmental compliance, safety, site surveying, non-manual staffing, contracting, labor strategy, construction execution, and job-site work rules.
- Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Field Operations Manager for all assignment of Superintendent and Foreman positions.
- Support Superintendent(s) throughout the duration of the job.
- Review project schedules with Superintendents/Foreman.

- Follow guidelines of the Project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program written for the job site.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related technical degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
- 20-25 years of relevant experience, with progressive responsibility and technical knowledge both scope and value of project.
- Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including:
- Utility relocates and slope stability works.
- Full understanding of multiple mission critical platforms.
- Full understanding and working knowledge of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems. General understanding of BMS and EPMS Systems.
- Full understanding and coordination of Utility relocations, underground medium voltage systems, and BIM modeling coordination of ALL utilities both above and below ground.
- Full understanding and managing of all LOTO procedure's and FOD inspections for all systems.
- Ability to research and understand local codes and jurisdictional requirements for the project.
- Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience with successful interface management on Data Center/Mission Critical projects.
- OSHA 30 required.
- Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi-floor scaffolding.
- Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.
