As a Flex Culinary Assistant at Haven Homes, you will play an important role in providing a pleasant dining experience for our residents by assisting with food preparation, meal service, and kitchen cleanup. This position is to help cover for vacations and leave of absences and has the potential to turn full-time.

Shifts Available:
Day 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
Wage Range: $15.35 to $18.00 / hour depending on experience.

Culinary Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and families.
  • Work within the department to provide quality and nutritious meals and service to residents.
  • Assist with food preparation and serving meals to residents.
  • Help maintain a clean and sanitary dietary department.
  • Wash dishes and clean the kitchen and dining rooms.
  • Assist residents, employees, and guests with a broad range of dietary needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Culinary Assistant Qualifications
  • Previous restaurant or healthcare experience preferred but not required! We will train!
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Basic math skills.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Provides transportation for pick-up of products and donations from various locations in a timely matter. Adheres to the daily schedule as weather and circumstances permit, and seeks to develop and maintain a good relationship with donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A full job description will be provided for review during the interview process.

* Represent Open Door Mission at stores, companies, churches, etc. Build and maintain relationships with everyone you come into contact with.

* Communicate with Warehouse Staff, Outreach Director, Lead Receiving Associate, and on-site staff at both Elkhorn and Council Bluffs to ensure product and supplies are being dropped off/picked up at the correct places.

* Maintain mileage logs at start and end of the day, record times, and make note of vehicle problems for needed maintenance or repair.

* Load donations properly and maintain order in the vehicle.

* Enter Gift in Kind receipts from pickups daily.

* Assist at Timberlake Outreach Center as assigned by supervisor when not required to drive.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Must be able to pass a preemployment physical assessment.

* Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

* A visible, growing, and committed relationship with Christ, based on knowledge of Scripture and life experience.

* Consistent attendance at and involvement with a local Christian church.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE...

* High School Diploma or equivalent.

* 2 or more years of experience driving box/ cargo trucks.
