Position Responsibilities:

• Operate, install electrical systems and perform functional testing of building and plant equipment (e.g., machines, motor controls, room re-models)

• Determine if system should be shut down or work must be performed with power source on

• Lock out, tag out, try out equipment and related systems

• Perform primary and secondary testing on electrical breakers during routine maintenance; replace, update and retro fit breakers

• Perform routine tests on high voltage switches and relays, using hi-potential test equipment (Hipot), replace switch or relay

• Install and perform routine maintenance on all types of lighting fixtures (e.g., fluorescent, halide, standard); clean and check sockets, and replace ballast and bulbs

• Run high voltage electrical cable from sub-station to unit station; cut and splice cable, test cable for resistance

• Install, replace and repair fiber optic cable for computers and computing systems

• Bend conduit and install junction boxes; pull wire of various gauge and color through conduit using a fish tape; install and connect switches and outlets

• Check work after completion or after each operation; ensure job is per drawing and WAC, NEC codes; evaluate job for work to be performed (e.g., wire size, electrical load, conduit)

• Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. tiger lift, spider lift, snorkel lift), to access work areas

• Install wire, crimp, terminate, and solder using tools (e.g., crimpers, wire cutters, soldering gun) in plant electrical systems

• Establish/verify voltage, amperage, frequency and watts using test equipment (e.g., circuit trackers, sonic circuit chasers, volt, amperage meters)

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

As the Fiber Splicer-Outside Plant Construction in Helena, MT, you will be responsible for the placement of enclosures, splicing, testing, and documentation of outside plant fiber optic facilities with relation to Outside Plant (OSP) Construction projects. You will operate the fiber fusion splicer, OTDR, and optical light testers to ensure adherence to TDS fiber splicing standards while ensuring accuracy and timely documentation of the final product for project closing. In this role, you will complete fiber splicing for projects while coordinating with OSP construction, OSP construction contractors, and internal construction teams, ensuring project timelines are met with relation to new network turnup activities.

Position Overview

Prism is seeking an experienced Telecom Designer with a comprehensive understanding of structured of cabling, backbone and horizontal distribution systems, telecom spaces, and supporting infrastructure. This role requires the ability to independently design, coordinate, and problem-solve complex telecom systems with minimal to no supervision while collaborating with internal teams, clients, and other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of network topologies, architectures, and network types
• Design, evaluate, and optimize Backbone and Horizontal Distribution Systems.
• Perform site surveys, capacity assessments, upgrade recommendations based on client and/or site needs.
• Design building pathways and resolving complex routing with constructability in mind.
• Develop and coordinate comprehensive cabling pathway designs, including cable tray, conduit, J‑hooks, plenum and non‑plenum spaces, and wall or barrier penetrations

The ideal candidate brings strong OSP cable experience and a proven background managing field operations, vendors, and construction schedules within telecommunications or broadband environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations supporting a network upgrade and modernization program
• Manage and coordinate coax splicing crews and construction teams across the market
• Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within quality standards

How You'll Contribute:

The installation technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of the actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate with project management, field superintendents and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. They interpret our drawing packages to create the basis of the finished systems. Complexity:

This level of technician will be responsible for performing tasks on clients job sites with little supervision. On smaller projects this position may be responsible for the coordination with clients, contractors and subcontractors.

Decision Making Authority:

This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement about decisions that need to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor are available to answer questions. This position requires good diplomacy in working with our clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.

The employee must have the ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 40 pounds in construction areas. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects. When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.

Travel:

Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of residence. Local travel to job sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times. 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.

Our compensation ranges reflect the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The pay details below range from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience depending on the position offered, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.

• Troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions to machine control systems and makes recommendations to improve efficiency or address quality concerns
  
• Experience and proficiency with ladder logic/PLC programming, Siemens experience required
  
• Develops new and modifies existing PLC and/or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded control systems
  
• Participates in the set-up and commissioning of new systems or the upgrading of current systems
  
• Knowledge of AC and DC circuitry and electrical concepts
  
• Versatile in ladder logic and various PLC programming languages. Working knowledge of field control devices (motors, relays, switches, photoeyes, etc.)
  
• Designs, develops, maintains, and modifies instrumentation and control systems
  
• Start to finish electrical control system hardware design experience (control panel and field wiring)
  
• Competency in Electrical CAD
  
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

• Working knowledge of power distribution, networks, PLC, HMI, and drive hardware and software
  
• Ability to read and create schematic drawings using AutoCAD software
  
• Must be able to communicate effectively with Operators, Technicians, Management,a nd others
