The Role

Key Responsibilities

Summary

As a member of the Partner Data Exchange (PDX) team, you will help design, build, and support systems that enable how Securian exchanges critical employee and client data with internal platforms, external partners, and administrators.

PDX plays a key role in the end to end client experience by ensuring that eligibility, enrollment, and coverage data is accurate, timely, and reliable. Job Purpose:

The Associate will support a Senior Analyst in the Healthcare sector, focused on Biotechnology, with an emphasis on companies where applied chemistry, process development, formulation, and manufacturability (CMC) are key drivers of value. The Associate will conduct primary research and fundamental analysis, build and maintain financial models, and help author differentiated research that translates scientific/technical insights into clear investment conclusions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical rigor, excellent writing skills, and a Master’s-level foundation in Chemical Engineering and applied chemistry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Research, Diligence & Technical Analysis

• Perform deep diligence on biotech platforms and products where chemistry and process matter, including (as applicable): ADCs, oligonucleotides/siRNA, peptides, radiopharmaceuticals, LNP/delivery systems, biologics formulation, and chemistry-enabled tools.
• Evaluate CMC and scale-up risk across development stages (preclinical through commercial), including:
  • Synthetic route/process complexity, yield/throughput considerations, impurity profiles, stability and degradation pathways
  • Formulation constraints, cold-chain/logistics considerations, and analytical characterization/assay robustness
  • CDMO/manufacturing capacity, tech transfer risk, and timeline sensitivities impacting commercial readiness. 
• Translate technical findings into investment-relevant outputs (e.g., probability-of-success adjustments, timeline shifts, COGS/margin sensitivities, competitive differentiation).

Primary Research & Channel Work

• Conduct primary research through KOL outreach, expert calls, surveys/polling, and other proprietary data collection to support thesis formation and ongoing monitoring.
• Track and synthesize industry trends (pipeline activity, platform adoption, competitive read-throughs, regulatory/CMC expectations) and communicate actionable takeaways.

Financial Analysis & Modeling

• Build and maintain company financial models (forecasting, scenario analysis, valuation work) for use in updates, investment recommendations, and client discussions.
• Incorporate development-stage considerations into models (e.g., stage-based forecasting and key catalyst timing that can shift valuation outcomes).

Writing, Publication & Team Support

• Assist in drafting and publishing research: initiations, earnings notes, catalyst previews/recaps, thematic reports, and breaking-news updates.
• Keep the Senior Analyst informed of daily news flow, filings, data releases, and relevant market developments; propose implications and next steps quickly.

Relationship Management (As You Develop)

• Help maintain and grow relationships with company management teams, industry/academic contacts, internal Sales & Trading partners, and institutional investors.
• Contribute thoughtful questions for management meetings and investor calls, with a focus on chemistry, CMC readiness, and commercialization feasibility.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in chemical engineering preferred with demonstrated strength in applied chemistry (e.g., reaction engineering, separations/purification, formulation, analytical characterization, process development/scale-up).
• Demonstrated interest in Biotechnology and life sciences investing; ability to connect scientific/engineering details to business and valuation outcomes.
• Strong financial aptitude and willingness to build expertise in modeling, forecasting, and valuation (advanced Excel required).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Additional Skills: 

• 1–3 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, or biopharma industry roles (process development, analytical development, manufacturing/CMC, QA/QC, or related).

This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Job Description:

• Intelligence Watch OfficerThe Intelligence Watch Officer (IWO) is responsible for supporting intelligence operations through monitoring EPS Threat Intelligence collection tools and intelligence feeds, triaging and documenting threat information, and producing tactical-level intelligence reports for leadership. The IWO will work closely with the Enterprise Security Command Center (ESCC) and maintain a wholistic view of the current threat landscape.
• The IWO must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, monitor intelligence feeds from an array of sources, identify threats, and communicate effectively with partners and stakeholders.
• The IWO must be skilled in both verbal and written communication, must possess strong critical thinking skills, and must be able to prioritize work tasks.

• Responsibilities and Duties:Monitor intelligence feeds
• Triage and document threat information
• Produce tactical-level intelligence reports and effectively communicate threat information to stakeholders
• Assist intelligence analysts with conducting open source research on tactical threats to the company.
• Provide necessary intelligence support to ESCC during incident response.

Qualifications:

• Required:Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or related degree
• High school diploma or GED equivalent and 4+ years of relevant employment experience can substitute for an Associate’s degree
• Preferred:Bachelor’s degree Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or related degree.

• Performs a variety of research and analysis of budgetary issues and prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
• Provides technical assistance and training to departments concerning budget and accounting issues.
• Conducts ongoing monitoring of City revenues and expenditures and provides analysis of trends, culminating in periodic reports on City's financial performance and annual report on City's financial condition.
• Provides support during City-wide budget process by assisting in development and balancing of the City budget. Develops customized budget-related reports. Prepares and provides budget preparation training to City staff. Reviews departmental budget materials for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness. Works with a variety of departmental staff, including departmental budget coordinators, division managers, and department directors to acquire needed information. Prepares annual budget for selected funds as assigned. Participates in budget review meetings with the City Manager and City Council. Assists in preparation of preliminary and final budget documents.
• Produces monthly sales tax trend analysis reports for City Council and city management.
• Assists in development of the six-year capital improvement program. Reviews departmental materials for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Assists in production of preliminary and final CIP documents.
• Conducts special studies and analyses pertaining to a wide variety of issues.
• Conducts a variety of budget analysis projects and reconciliation of accounts. Monitors assigned revenue and expenditure accounts and prepares correcting journal entries if needed. Prepares reports of findings and recommendations for corrective action. Assembles revenue and expenditures data and analyzes trends.
• Develops and maintains Information Technology, Public Works, and Development Services rate models and other cost allocation modes as assigned.
• Assists Senior Financial Analyst in gathering data for the City-wide indirect cost allocation model.
• Assists in preparation of the City's comprehensive annual financial report.

• Serves as departmental representative on ad hoc task forces and committees dealing with a wide variety of internal issues.

• Performs functions as assigned in the City's emergency response plan in the event of an emergency.

• Thorough knowledge of financial management principles and municipal budgeting practices. Knowledge of a variety of analytical techniques.
• Knowledge of governmental fund accounting principles and practices and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced skill in the use of spreadsheet software and related graphics capabilities. Ability to develop charts, graphs, and other explanatory materials as needed. Knowledge of database and report-writing software.
• Ability to learn and effectively use financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and routinely handle sensitive department materials.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff. Ability to tactfully and effectively assure timely flow of department materials.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information verbally and in writing and to support presentations with graphs and charts.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, elicit cooperation, resolve conflicts and coordinate a diverse group of individuals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field.
• Experience: 2 years professional level experience in budget, finance, or accounting preferably in a municipal setting.
• Or: In place of the above requirements, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to proficiently perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

• Work is conducted in a typical office setting. Position typically requires extended periods of sitting while performing keyboard operations.
• Due to the demands of budget deadlines, occasional evening or weekend work is required.
• Attendance at Council meetings is occasionally required; meetings are held in the evenings or outside normal office hours.
