We recently raised our pre-seed from a16z, Reach Capital, and JFF Ventures, and are now hiring a founding backend engineer to help build the technical backbone of how institutions interact with their data.
The Role
As a Founding Engineer at Straia, you’ll work directly with a small team including directly with our CEO (Ryan), CTO (Alan) and CPO (Nikki) to design, build, and scale the core infrastructure of our platform.
This is a 0 → 1 opportunity to shape not just the product, but the engineering culture, architecture, and trajectory of the company. You’ll ship fast, make key technical decisions, and help define how AI can power the next generation of enterprise data intelligence.

What You'll Do
- Build the core platform — architect and implement services spanning data ingestion, query orchestration, and agentic AI workflows
- Ship end-to-end features across our React + Node.js + Postgres stack, integrating directly with LLMs like GPT, Gemini, and Claude
- Scale infrastructure on GCP for performance, reliability, and data security
- Collaborate with users (university data teams and administrators) to translate real problems into elegant, powerful solutions
- Lay the foundation for Straia’s engineering culture, best practices, and technical roadmap
- Prototype fast, iterate faster — your work will directly shape how education leaders experience AI in their daily decision-making
Who You Are
- 4–7 years of experience building and shipping full-stack applications, with a strong emphasis on backend systems (Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres).

Team & Mission
The Measurement Products team helps advertisers measure the incremental impact of their Pinterest campaigns and make informed investment decisions. We own and operate core measurement products including Pinterest Conversion Lift (PCL) Studies and Brand Lift Studies.
We build the platform these products run on and are evolving it into our nextgen Measurement Hub, an extensible platform that enables faster product iteration, onboarding of new study types, and deeper integration with Pinterest's enterprise data and experimentation systems. Our mission is to measure true incremental impact and translate it into actionable insights for advertisers and partners.
Role Summary
We're seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the architecture and technical direction of the measurement platform behind how advertisers understand the impact of their investment on Pinterest. You'll drive endtoend platform evolution (pipelines, services, correctness, reliability), partner closely with Product and Data Science, and raise the bar on rigor, trust, and operational excellence in ads measurement.
What you'll do:
- Own endtoend architecture and delivery of features for lift measurement products, from design and implementation through rollout and ongoing reliability.
- Design, build, and optimize largescale data pipelines that power study setup, experiment execution, and results computation.
- Drive AI enablement across the team by building the supporting tooling and processes (CI checks, test strategy, templates), coaching engineers, and ensuring adoption results in sustained improvements to delivery speed and system quality.
- Translate measurement methodology into production systems: partner with Data Science to operationalize study design requirements into pipelines, services, tooling, and guardrails.
- Build "rigor by default" mechanisms: automated data validation, randomization/holdout integrity checks, imbalance diagnostics, and continuous verification/backtesting.
- Raise the bar on data quality and trust: define SLAs, build monitoring and anomaly detection, and lead rootcause analysis for pipeline and study issues.
- Mentor and up level engineers, driving strong technical execution and crossfunctional collaboration.
What we're looking for:
- BS+ in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on dataintensive systems.
- Strong proficiency building and operating largescale data pipelines (batch and/or streaming) using Java/Scala/Kotlin or Python, plus SQL.
- Experience designing reliable services and APIs, with solid foundations in distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to transform a team's engineering workflow using AI-from pilot to broad adoption-through tooling, enablement, and change leadership, with clear metrics (cycle time, defect rate, on-call load, incident rate).
- Experience in AdTech and measurement products (e.g., conversion lift, brand lift) or adjacent experimentation/analytics platforms.
- Working knowledge of experimentation and causal measurement fundamentals (randomization, holdouts, confounders, significance, power).
- Practical experience with backtesting, controlled rollouts, and continuous verification for correctness in measurement/analytics systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large crossfunctional initiatives, drive alignment, and deliver measurable impact through technical leadership.

The Programmatic Ads team integrates with external demand partners (DSPs, SSPs, etc) through OpenRTB. We drive performance optimization (latency, conversion, engagement, fill rate, etc) for our programmatic ad products. We are also responsible for building internal tools to better enable cross-functional teams.
What you'll do:
- Lead one or two partner integrations, and work closely with product managers, data scientists, other cross-functional teams, and external partners to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Independently drive the full software development lifecycle, including ideation, technical design, prototyping, development, and release.

Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Game Systems, you will help build a highend transaction system and lead the rearchitecture of existing systems to support new markets, horizontal scaling, and emerging gaming technologies. You’ll bring fresh, innovative ideas to support unique gaming requirements and collaborate closely with Operations and Platform Gaming teams. This role operates within an agile SDLC and DevOps environment, contributing to both design and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and develop new software products and system components.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SDET / QA Automation Engineer with 8 to 10 years of expertise in Python, JavaScript, and modern automation frameworks. This position involves developing automation solutions, microservices, and test scripts while validating end‑to‑end network components and their behavior. The candidate should have strong domain knowledge in networking and cable technologies, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop microservices using Python, NodeJS, and Golang as part of automation and service validations.
- Develop standalone Python/NodeJS scripts to simulate network traffic and validate performance across different endpoints.
- Create Proof of Concepts (POCs) based on client needs and actively participate in client demos and technical discussions.
- Lead the creation of test strategies and manage test environments with both physical and virtual device setups.
- Create comprehensive test scenarios and automated test scripts using MochaJS, ensuring robust coverage of functional, integration, and regression test cases.
- Design reusable test components, validate API and microservice behavior, and integrate MochaJS test suites into the existing automation framework to enhance reliability and execution efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine requirements, improve test coverage, and ensure smooth integration with CI/CD pipelines.
- Gather requirements and perform detailed analysis for new automation scenarios and test case development.
- Support manual and automation testing across applications, devices, and servers as required.
- Ensure code quality using tools like SonarQube and adhere to strict QA standards.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to team members on tasks and issues raised by the client.
- Maintain version control and branching strategies using GitHub, ensuring high code integrity and traceability.
- Monitor automation execution, analyze failures, and drive root‑cause investigations to improve overall product quality.
- Document technical workflows, automation processes, and test scenarios to ensure long-term maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in QA/SDET automation roles.
- Strong programming knowledge with Python and JavaScript.
- Good hands-on experience with Go Lang and NodeJS.
- Hands-on experience with MochaJS for scripting and automated testing.
- Excellent knowledge with web technologies like REST, SOAP, XML and JSON
- Proficiency in API testing using Bruno/ Postman.
- Familiarity with GitHub for version control and Jira for project tracking.
- Excellent domain knowledge in Network and cable domain
- Should be familiar with IMS architecture and SIP protocols.
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
Should have good communication and client interaction skills.
The person in this role will be involved in the design and implementation of our next generation Web-based portfolio management application – Architect AI.
Architect AI leverages natural language processing (NLP) to perform complex workflows rapidly allowing portfolio managers to work more efficiently, effectively reducing the number of steps in a given process and minimizing the reliance on complex software coupled with external spreadsheets that dominate many of today’s front office workflows.
The development environment is Visual Studio 2022 C# ASP.NET Core with MS SQL 2016+ backend.
