The Systems Effectors: Processing, Guidance & Control Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing (SP); and missile- and sensor-level Modeling and Simulation for Raytheon's broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products. The Effectors PG&C Center is currently hiring for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Missile Guidance, Navigation, & Control Engineer position in Tucson, AZ to support execution of the portfolio of current and upcoming missile programs. As a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Missile Guidance, Navigation, & Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping with the evaluation, design, implementation, and integration of embedded software algorithms. You will collaborate with a team of engineers in an integrated product team that will be responsible for tactical embedded software, firmware, and integrated flight software 6 Degrees-of-Freedom simulations to achieve overall system performance requirements.  This position is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ. 

What You Will Do

• Development, integration, and testing of embedded tactical missile flight code

• Definition and execution of system level performance studies and analyses to inform the development and integration of new capabilities, refinement of existing capability, or to address obsolescence

• Work within an agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics

• Provide experience and guidance to help the program train new engineers and execute efficiently and effectively

• Support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience

• GNC, Signal Processing, and/or Modeling / Simulation experience

• Engineering experience in missile system applications to include at least three of the following or subject matter expertise in at least one:

  • Digital and/or modern control systems

  • Dynamics

  • Kalman filter design

  • Monte Carlo analysis

  • Development and/or simulation of physical systems

  • Signal processing

  • Verification and validation

  • System-level performance assessments

  • GPS/INS navigation systems, sensors, and algorithms

• Participate and/or leads in developing air vehicle requirements for aeroelasticity including flutter, divergence, freeplay and rigidity

Position Responsibilities:

• Participate and/or leads in developing air vehicle requirements for aeroelasticity including flutter, divergence, freeplay and rigidity
• Collaborate with the airframe & subsystems design and analysis engineers to generate integrated aero and structural models for flight vehicle analysis consistent with a Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment
• Perform analysis for flutter, divergence, aeroservoelasticity, freeplay and rigidity to support air vehicle design and stores integration
• Define allowable flight envelopes and operational limits
• Develop flight flutter test and ground vibration test plans
• Create finite element models and correlate to test results
• Perform ground and/or flight test programs, by the development of test requirements, providing data for pre-test analysis, monitoring testing, data analysis anddocumenting results, in order to support design and verification of vehicle and components

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

As a Hardware Test Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a key part of the Hardware Test team. This is a small team of broadly experienced engineers that strive to ensure that all hardware being produced meets the stringent requirements for aviation. Hardware Test Engineers are one of the essential interfaces between the design, production, and flight test teams and are exposed to a wide variety of technical challenges.

You will be creating automated test stands to replicate extreme flight conditions on our hardware and mechanisms that will serve as the backbone of our qualification testing. You will help to break our development hardware, help root-cause the failure modes, and provide critical input in redesigning it. You will be writing the software and building the hardware platforms for the command, control and data collection systems that will test our systems to rigorous aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership of the design, build, and maintenance of mechanical or electrical test stands for development testing, production acceptance testing, functional and environmental qualification testing

• Automate the repetitive aspects of the test stands

• Author, execute, and audit test plans, procedures, and reports
