Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technologist delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing various functions to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite. Under the supervision of the Circulating RN, the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the surgical suite, positions and prepares the patient, and provides instruments, equipment, and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure. The Certified Surgical Technologist ensures a sterile field, proper instrument counts, and proper operation of instruments and equipment. The Certified Surgical Technologistparticipatesin patient-specific care as directed and follows service excellence standards to promoteoptimumpatient satisfaction.
Major Responsibilities:
- Organizes the operating suite with instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for the day. Reviews daily cases to ensure adequate stocking. Ensures proper functioning of equipment/instruments prior to procedures.
- Creates and maintains an orderly sterile instrument table. Utilizes physician preference cards for efficient setup.
- Prepares for emergency and add on cases rapidly and effectively.
- Transports patients to and from surgical suite as needed.
- Assists in the transfer, positioning, prepping, and draping of patients for surgical procedures in accordance with hospital standards.
- Performs and/or assists in scrub/gown/glove process for self and team.
- Assists the surgeon during each procedure by passing requested/required equipment, instruments, medications, sponges, sutures, etc.. Performs other duties as instructed, such as holding retractors and cutting sutures.
- Anticipates situations and functions with a proactive awareness to help the surgical team maintain attention on the operative field.
- Monitors the patient and any equipment in use to identify issues requiring immediate action. Reports and/or responds calmly and efficiently.
- Assists in the maintenance and care of surgical specimens. Handles surgical specimens according to hospital policy.
- Follows department procedures for proper procurement, labeling, and handling of medications, I.V. fluids, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area.
- Operates specialty equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations and policy/procedures.
- Completes all sponge, sharp, and instrument counts and reports all discrepancies to the nurse or surgeon.
- Performs thorough, prompt room turnover between procedures, including cleaning, restocking of supplies, and setup/cleaning/removal of equipment and instrumentation as needed.
- Participates in patient and procedural verification.
- Responds to lifesaving situations, including fire and disaster situations.
- Responds promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
- Helps maintain a safe, organized environment for personnel and patients. Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient falls and restraints.
- Ensures patient privacy and comfort. Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records, and advocates for patient rights as needed.
- Applies the principles of asepsis to ensure the prevention of infection and maintain optimum patient care. Follows universal precautions as required by hospital and OSHA policies.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills when interacting with patients, family members, physicians, and coworkers. Utilizes appropriate chains of command to communicate pertinent information.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Maintains knowledge of surgical specialties and ability to scrub for multiple types of procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of procedure-related anatomy and physiology.
- Contributes to performance improvement initiatives and works toward meeting and exceeding core measures, patient safety, and service excellence goals.

Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Vocational training program in Surgical Technology
Licensure, Certification, Training:
- Currently certified as Surgical Technician or Surgical Technologist in the state(s) of practice,in accordance withlaw and regulation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days

About the Role:
The ideal candidate will be a technological savvy account executive, with at least 6 years of selling to medium/large companies and have proven ability to execute software sales focused on enterprise, data products, analytics, and/or data science software products.

- Opportunity hunting and workflow redesign – Lead Lean/Six Sigma discovery workshops; map value streams, assess process and data maturity, and log low-effort/high-impact AI use cases.

Salary and Benefits
- Compensation for this role will be determined based on experience and skill set, with an anticipated salary range of $385,000-$415,000 plus generous medical benefits and retirement contributions.
