Position Overview
The Director, Inpatient Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for Neurosurgery serves as the senior operational and clinical leader for the neurosurgical APP service line at University of New Mexico Hospital, the state’s only Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center. This role is responsible for leading, integrating, and advancing a high-acuity neurosurgical APP program that spans inpatient care, critical care, operative services, and ambulatory practice.
This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the highest-acuity neurosurgical APP teams in the region while maintaining an active clinical footprint. The Director partners directly with the Chair of Neurosurgery, Executive Director of Inpatient APPs, faculty leadership, and health system stakeholders to drive service line strategy, workforce integration, clinical excellence, and cultural transformation.
The service line supports approximately 2,000 neurosurgical cases annually, with ~70 percent trauma, a strong mix of elective and non-elective neurosurgery, and a 24-bed collaborative Neuro ICU. APPs are fully integrated across inpatient, OR, and clinic environments, practicing at the top of their licensure in a team-based academic model.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Integration
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for a 22-member neurosurgical APP team(employed and locum providers)
- Maintain active clinical practice within neurosurgery (clinic, inpatient rounding, and/or ICU coverage)

The Director of Facilities Management supervises facilities services, general services, grounds, licensed wastewater treatment, licensed water works, and housekeeping and laundry functions. Director of Facilities Management responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervises facilities services, general services, grounds, security, licensed wastewater treatment plant, licensed waterworks, housekeeping and laundry.
- Provides professional training and development of supervised staff.
- Oversees Life Safety Surveys.
- Monitors energy use and management.
- Establishes and maintains a comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance system for all assets, including equipment, tools and machinery.

- Maintains and updates Emergency Preparedness Plan.

Director of Facilities Management position qualifications:
- Must have at least five years experience in a healthcare setting, such as a skilled nursing facility, personal care/assisted living facility, or preferably, a Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community.
- Must have at least five years experience in supervisory and management roles including leading, hiring, directing and performance of appraisals.
- Experience in a property management setting with hands-on or other exposures to all trades is needed.
- Should possess a working knowledge of nursing home, assisted living, personal care and infection control regulations regarding areas under supervision.
- Should possess a working knowledge of National Electrical Code, Life Safety Code, and other codes and preventive maintenance systems.

Job Summary
Responsible for providing clinical, administrative and operational direction in the areas of responsibility. Provides leadership and coordination for the Perioperative Services departments. Serves as the strategic point person for areas of responsibility as it relates to daily operations, patient care, program development, physician relationships, quality initiatives and system-wide initiatives. Using the system balanced scorecard as a framework, in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations, Clinical Service Lines, Finance, Ancillary Department Directors and Medical Directors, develops strong operational processes, clinical program plans, strategies, and goals for the perioperative services division. Participates as departmental representative at Anesthesia Committee, Surgery Committee and Perioperative Services Committee meetings. The incumbent communicates the vision effectively to the interdisciplinary team and staff and effects change by setting a strong and effective operational model, program planning implementation, coaching, mentoring, directing, supporting, and teaching.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the assigned perioperative services division’s quality of care, resource utilization, and educational programs. Develops organizational policy, including strategies based on an awareness of patient needs, market demands, and quality of care issues relevant to the health care system. Accountable for implementation and administration of organizational policies and procedures as they relate to the delivery of services and advises key leadership on impact. Uses evidence based knowledge in decision making to improve and maintain high quality, cost effective patient care. Focuses on ways to manage risk in the highly volatile area of perioperative service.
- Directs and supervises personnel/subordinate managers, supervisors assigned to the division. Plans, establishes and revises work flow to enhance throughput, patient, staff and physician satisfaction. Promotes organizational climate of decentralized decision making, autonomy and accountability. Provides clinical oversight to contracted physician services and agreement. Develops and oversees quality parameters for contractual arrangements that involve clinical care.
- Provides direction and oversight for establishing and maintaining systems for clinical and administrative records and reports, manages physical plant requirements, and staffing levels to satisfy state licensure and federal regulatory and accreditation requirements. Supports systems to provide data reporting for areas of responsibility to quality, medical and executive leadership, and finance.
- Develops and implements programs that promote an environment of excellence in patient care by leading and directing a nursing leadership model and collaborative practice delivery system to commit to absolute quality, clinical care and service. Fosters collaborative partnerships with multiple stakeholders. Develops strategies for excellence in patient satisfaction.
- Facilitates and supports nursing and other educational opportunities to provide innovative learning experiences for staff and students. Creates a culture of caring, learning and development. Establishes external relationships to enhance quality and supports involvement in professional organizations and evidence based care to elevate capabilities for patient care.
- Develops and is accountable for annual capital and operational budgets for areas of responsibility. Develops short and long term goals within the established financial parameters. Collaborates with medical directors and executive leadership to develop business plans and identifies ways to strengthen the systems’ financial performance.
- Supports management team in the interviewing, selection, and hiring of personnel. Initiates changes in classification, salary actions, promotion, demotions, transfer and termination. Reconciles employee problems and administers appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.

Job Summary
The Director, Health Systems Compliance provides leadership and oversight for the health system compliance program, ensuring alignment with federal and state regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing compliance risks across clinical operations, revenue cycle activities, privacy and data protection, and other regulatory domains impacting the health system.
The Director oversees compliance monitoring, auditing, and advisory activities to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, and partners with operational leaders, physicians, and administrative teams to guide compliant business practices.
This role also supports the development and implementation of corrective action plans related to compliance findings and regulatory reviews.

Key Responsibilities
- Assists in the University-wide risk assessment process to identify potential areas of Health System compliance vulnerabilities and critical and emerging risks
- In conjunction with Client Office of Compliance, collaborates with Health System executives, department heads, and administrative and health system operations leaders and teams to ensure development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of compliance program effectiveness
- Creates and implements processes to identify, manage, and mitigate compliance risks, reduce adverse effects of non-compliance, and ensure effective corrective actions
- Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises compliance-related standards, policies, and procedures to prevent, detect, and mitigate improper conduct
- Assures effectiveness of the compliance program as measured and evaluated per the Client Office of Compliance and system-wide Compliance Program
- Directs compliance issues to appropriate channels for evaluation and resolution
- Consults with health system leaders to improve compliance of processes
- Coordinates and prepares reports and assessments as appropriate
- Develops, prepares, and presents reports to the Office of Institutional Compliance, health system leadership, compliance committees, and other relevant stakeholders
