Project Engineer – Commercial Construction
Location: Western Suburbs

Position Summary
Our client is a smaller but dynamic GC / CM delivering high quality commercial construction projects around Chicagoland. They value collaboration, integrity, innovation, and client satisfaction. We’re seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support project teams and help ensure builds are delivered on time, on budget, and with the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to understand scope and identify any gaps or discrepancies.
- Support material, labor, and equipment take-offs, assist with quantity verification and preliminary cost estimates.
- Support scheduling: help develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and design/engineering teams to keep work aligned.
- Manage project documentation: maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, change orders, subcontracts, permits, and daily/weekly reports.
- Assist with cost control: track costs vs. budget, monitor change-order requests, support procurement, and help forecast cost-to-complete estimates.
- Facilitate communication among all stakeholders — owners, architects/engineers, subcontractors, trade-partners, and internal team members — to ensure collaboration and smooth workflow.
- Support quality assurance and compliance: verify that work adheres to project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, inspections, and coordinate close-out documentation at project completion.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction, general contracting, or construction management, preferably with exposure to estimating, takeoffs, and subcontractor coordination.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency with construction management and documentation tools/software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office.

Job Summary
Our Natural Gas Construction Manager provides management and direction of utility construction activities. Project work includes project management, resource allocation, equipment management, and utility construction. Duties performed are associated with human resources, payroll, accounting, and administrative functions. This position supports the Construction team and works with field personnel, senior operations management, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage all projects to completion on-time and within budget.
- Schedule the crews, identify and delegate the crews to start their work, review project timelines and expectations, and supervise work performance and job quality.
- Participate in the hiring process and maintain all employment related paperwork (i.e. new hire paperwork, separation paperwork, employment data changes, etc.).
- Promote a safe work environment, holding crews accountable to safe work practices.
- Determine job costs, labor, and material needed, ensuring on-time deliveries.

Seeking multiple Project Engineers to provide Owner Representation on the construction of a hyperscale data center campus in Port Washington, WI (~40 mins north of Milwaukee, WI). These individuals will manage various scopes during the fit-out of multiple buildings on campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, or similar field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity required
• Data Center experience is a preferred
• Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a strong preference
• Proficiency in Procore is strongly preferred
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Manage individual tasks throughout the construction process including submittal and RFI processing, and safety reporting
• Coordinate Owner led meetings, transcribe meeting minutes and drive actions to closure
• Oversee OFCI equipment release, delivery, deficiencies, startup and commissioning

• Input PO requests in the financial system and oversee the distribution process to all Owner vendors
• Facilitate page-turn design document reviews and assemble comments with action items for internal stakeholders and direct contracted design partners
• Partner with Owner vendors turnkey to ensure successful completion of their scope (i.e. Signage, Furniture, and Controls)
• Guide design team/contractors throughout each project
• Work closely with Operations to coordinate ongoing construction activities on campus, develops and tracks MOPs for critical work in live spaces, and provide customer support as necessary
• Provide project commissioning support by onboarding the Commissioning Agent, facilitating script approvals and ensuring compliance with customer requirements
• Drive internal and external project closeout requirements
• Assist the Construction department with the upkeep of current campus and site permits, update the permit bond tracking sheet, and coordinate with local authorities to ensure all permits are current

Role Purpose
The Senior Project Manager leads complex commercial and industrial projects from preconstruction through closeout while delivering results across three non-negotiables:
- Client satisfaction, 2) team leadership, and 3) project performance (schedule, budget, quality, safety).
This role exists to ensure that every project is executed with clarity, accountability, and professionalism, producing an experience that clients trust—and choose again.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
KRA 1: Project Execution & Accountability
- Lead project planning, mobilization, procurement, and production execution.
- Establish meeting rhythm, roles/responsibilities, and decision pathways.
- Ensure project documentation, workflows, and communication are consistent and audit-ready.
KRA 2: Budget Ownership & Financial Management
- Own budget performance, cost reporting, forecasting, and margin protection.

Compensation (Pay Transparency)
GCM intends to pay competitive wages that are fair, motivational, and equitable. Compensation is based on skills, experience, and location.
