Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist radiologist with imaging procedures starting IV's and injecting contrast if applicable.
* Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
* Evaluate CT scans for technical quality collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film transmits to PACS.
* Charge procedures and supplies correctly.
* Assists in the administration and administers various chemical substances to render specific organs or systems more opaque. Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
* Reviews patient charts and requests with the radiologist to ensure the proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained.
* Quality controls all images maintains inventory and adheres to safety regulations. Participates in training of department personnel including students.
* Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration.

* Assist with providing orientation and training to new CT technologists.

Summary:

The Registered Nurse Lactation Counselor provides expert lactation support and education to breastfeeding mothers and infants, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care. This role involves providing in-person consultations, telephone follow-ups, and outpatient services to address lactation challenges, enhance breastfeeding success, and ensure mothers and infants receive optimal care. The Lactation consultant works closely with lactation counselors, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care, provide education, and ensure continuity of lactation support after discharge. The role also includes patient education, staff training, and promotion of lactation resources.

Responsibilities:

Training and Education for Staff:

  • Assist in the training and education of hospital staff, including nurses and other healthcare providers, to ensure accurate and consistent lactation information is provided to patients.

Program Development and Improvement:

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of lactation services, ensuring they align with current evidence-based guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred

Experience

  • In hospital experience preferred
