Who we are looking for:
As a Service Engineering Senior focused on assembly test & AM operations you’ll be responsible for assembling and validating Caracol systems before delivery, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards and for operating and maintaining internal systems to support internal operations. You will act both as the factory floor for our systems and the engine behind internal AM operations.
Few examples of responsibilities:
- Assemble Caracol systems and sub-systems following standard procedures and drawings
- Execute testing and pre-acceptance activities, verifying functionality, safety, and basic process performance before delivery.
- Support daily operations in managing the warehouse and the shop floor space
- Operate internal AM systems to support internal projects, following production plans and process parameters
- Perform routine maintenance and first-level troubleshooting on both internal systems and customers’ systems
- Actively collaborate daily with the other members of the field engineering department to ensure systems are ready on time and aligned with project requirements
- Produce technical documents
Ideal Background:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Robotic field.
- 3-4 years of experience in assembly, testing, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, machine building, or similar shop floor roles
- Proven ability to work with hand and power tools, assemble mechanical and/or electrical components, and follow technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality, with a structured approach to checklists and documentation
- Experience with 3D printing (FDM/FFF, pellet extrusion, WAAM or other AM technologies)
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical technical drawings
- MS Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Excel)
- Nice to have: Experience with industrial robots, CNC machines, AM / 3D printing, or other complex automated systems
- English language proficiency (Level C1/C2)

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Design Engineer at TASSCO, you will lead the design and execution of custom-engineered bulk material handling systems and components for abrasive environments. This role combines deep technical expertise in material flow, structural design, and wear mitigation with a hands-on, project-driven approach. You’ll own projects from concept to final implementation—ensuring system reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
You will collaborate closely with sales, operations, manufacturing, and field teams while leveraging tools such as AutoCAD Inventor and discrete element modeling (DEM) to optimize performance. Your designs will directly contribute to the success of capital and MRO projects across industries including mining, aggregates, power generation, and heavy industrial.
LOCATION: Birmingham, Alabama. Office hours: 7:30-4:30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead engineering design of custom bulk material handling systems including transfer chutes, towers, supports, and liners
- Apply DEM software and simulation data to enhance material flow and reduce wear
- Create detailed design packages including 3D models, BOMs, stress calculations, and manufacturing notes
- Specify structural reinforcements, wear-resistant materials, and overlay/fabrication techniques
- Interface with CNC, plasma cutting, forming, and welding processes to ensure manufacturability
- Coordinate closely with sales, estimating, shop, and field service teams throughout the design cycle
- Review customer bid packages and translate specifications into actionable engineering plans
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight on drafting, design standards, and QA processes
- Deliver complete design proposals including scope definition, system layout, and budget analysis
SUCCESS METRICS
First 3 Months: Learn TASSCO’s design standards, ERP workflows, materials, and key systems. Support ongoing projects with AutoCAD 3D layouts and fabrication drawings. Begin conducting DEM model reviews and participating in site visits
First 6 Months: Independently lead small-to-mid-size design projects and generate full drawing packages. Perform structural calculations and specify reinforcement and wear treatments. Incorporate DEM results into optimized designs and complete at least one full system
First Year: Deliver multiple large-scale designs with high accuracy and manufacturability. Lead capital and MRO project design scopes from concept to implementation. Mentor team members and propose improvements in materials or processes for performance gains
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
Experience:
- 8–10 years of engineering experience in mechanical or structural design, ideally within custom steel fabrication or heavy industrial systems.
- Proven background designing bulk material handling systems or other engineered-to-order capital equipment.
Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong plus but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Inventor and 3D modeling.
- Hands-on experience with discrete element modeling (DEM) software for flow simulation.
- Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques (e.g., overlay, hard-facing), CNC processes, and manufacturing constraints.
- Experience applying AWS, AISC, and OSHA standards to structural and welded assemblies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and project tracking tools.

Job Description: VDC Specialist
The BIM/VDC Support Specialist supports project teams by assisting with the creation, organization, and maintenance of drawing and model deliverables using BIM tools. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in design, drafting, or engineering who is eager to learn how 3D models and 2D drawings support fabrication, installation, and construction workflows.
Primary Responsibilities:

You will be required to provide Deskside / OSS / FSO technical support to Desktop PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Smart Phones, Desk telephony, AV equipment, Comms room devices/activities, desk cabling, Software installation and troubleshooting and any other related technology.
Providing a high level of customer satisfaction and extremely strong communicator in both verbal and written communicate in the local language.
Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems.
Work self-sufficiently to perform fault diagnostics, delivery user requirements, while maintaining standards and SLAs.

- Hands on role, expected to provide 2nd line IT support to the business community ensuring that all requirements are met within agreed service level agreement

We are seeking a Developer on IBM i Power Systems (AS400). This position works out of our corporate office in Troy, MI. This job is NOT REMOTE OR HYBRID.
Must be well-versed in RPG, including RPG3 and ILE. Expert with internal and external printer files and database files. Must be an expert in Control Language programming. The applicant must be well-versed in iSeries technical skills. Must know IBM products: Query and SDA. A working knowledge of FTP, DDM, and Stream Files is important. Expertise in SQL should include both Interactive and RPG-ILE. Experience with non-IBM products, DBU, and Hawkeye is also required. Experience with Mark Magic is helpful but not required.
A working knowledge of the SDLC process with practical project management experience is expected. Must be able to gather user requirements, author user design documents, and develop technical design documents. Project planning skills are essential. Must be able to develop a quality assurance and formal test plan. Must also be able to author user documentation and be at ease conducting end-user training sessions.
Expertise with DB2/400 is also expected, as well as the ability to troubleshoot database performance issues. System performance tuning, PTF, and Release Upgrades are also highly desirable. Familiarity with common iSeries hardware, such as printers and tape drives, is also expected.
Developer on IBM i Power Systems (AS400) Requirements:
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and well organized.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Having the ability to work with members of other departments in both team and one-on-one roles is also required.
- Experience with third-party consultants and software vendors is very important.
- Must have the ability to: quickly identify technical issues, work with management in developing an action plan, execute the plan on schedule, and determine a measurement for success.
- Retail experience highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Lawson financial software is a plus.
- Experience with Manhattan WMS software is also a big plus.
- Exposure to Island Pacific merchandising systems is also highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Complete familiarity with Microsoft products; Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook is required.
- Familiarity with Visual Source Safe is desirable.
- Must be open to on-call responsibilities.
