Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Under strict supervision, assists during rigging-up and rigging-down of cementing service equipment on work locations to include spotting of cement storage vessels, pre-mixing of spacer fluids, rigging-up appropriate data monitoring equipment.
  • Learns basic oil well operations including but not limited to pipe capacities and volume/height math, plug landing pressures, absolute volumes (including total water requirements for job), hydrostatic and differential pressure, resulting forces, balanced plugs, bulk cement blending calculations to include liquid additives and weighted spacers, pressure to reverse, and determining burst and collapse.
  • Assists in the operation of some or all of the following: cement pumping and mixed equipment, blenders, liquid additive metering systems, centrifugal pumps, data acquisition systems, Automatic Density Control (ADC) systems, bulk cement blending, delivery, and storage systems, manifold equipment, and cementing plug releasing tools.
  • Assists in the performance of pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and associated paperwork/reports.
  • Understands hazardous materials, job, wash up and discharge procedures.
  • Verifies correct line up of valves on bulk systems and surface manifold equipment.
  • Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization. Error is readily ascertainable by the supervisor and can be corrected.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines.
  • Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities

  • This role will be heavily active in the field during the construction phase of a project, coordinating with subcontractors and crews, verifying quality of work, answering engineering questions and/or resolving issues that may pop up in real time.
  • Assist in development of project plan as requested. Specifically, provide support to Project Manager(s) through helping to develop business cases by gathering requirements, building investment decision models, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager(s) in purchasing activities including scoping and take-offs.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our Corporate Engineering team in Roanoke, VA. This position will be responsible for providing technical support and engineering assistance to all TA facilities.

Position Overview

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading procurement strategy and execution at Roanoke Cement, ensuring the reliable and cost-effective sourcing of materials, equipment, and services critical to plant operations. This role partners closely with plant leadership, maintenance, operations, and corporate procurement to drive cost efficiency, supplier performance, and operational continuity.


This position reports to the Mid-Atlantic Senior Manager of Mid-Atlantic Procurement Operations.


The ideal candidate brings strong experience in industrial procurement within manufacturing, mining, or heavy materials environments, along with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all site-level procurement activities in support of cement manufacturing operations, ensuring uninterrupted supply of critical materials, spare parts, and services
  • Serve as the primary procurement partner to the Roanoke Cement Plant Manager, aligning sourcing strategies with plant operational priorities and performance objectives
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of 1–2 procurement professionals, ensuring strong execution, accountability, and alignment with business objectives
  • Actively support Safety and Sustainability initiatives in the workplace.
  • Support and execute sourcing strategies aligned with Titan America’s procurement policies, total cost of ownership objectives, and operational priorities
  • Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and performance management to drive value, quality, and reliability
  • Partner with plant leadership, maintenance, and operations teams to forecast demand, plan purchases, and support planned outages and capital projects
  • Identify and deliver cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives, including category management, vendor consolidation, and contract optimization
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including SOX controls, procurement governance, and audit requirements
  • Utilize SAP and other procurement systems to manage purchasing processes, reporting, and data integrity
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
  • Support corporate procurement initiatives and collaborate across Titan America’s business units to leverage scale and best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, inventory management, and supplier performance


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field required
  • 7+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in industrial manufacturing (cement, mining, aggregates, or similar heavy industry preferred)
  • Proven experience leading procurement teams in a plant or site-based environment
  • Strong negotiation and contract management experience with demonstrated cost savings results
  • Experience working closely with maintenance, operations, and capital project teams
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and procurement controls
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment

What you'll be contributing:

The Sr. Terminal Operator will complete daily loading, unloading, administration, and safety requirements on site. They will also actively participate in site maintenance and upkeep to drive the 5s and "make it better" programs. The Sr. Terminal Operator will actively engage with customers to ensure that we are providing solid customer experience on site. The Sr. Terminal Operator will be able to operate all mobile equipment on site effectively and complete basic maintenance functions.

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Gains full understanding and demonstrate adherence to the safety program
  • Loads trucks as per the daily schedule utilizing the onsite systems
  • Unloads product as per the daily schedule utilizing the onsite systems
  • Handles inquiries and orders for customers and sales personnel
  • Maintains shipping logs, prepares bills of lading, and calculates split-load tonnages based on a customer's instructions
  • Completes independently all safety checks and audits on site
  • Maintains supply point and 5S standards
  • Operates mobile equipment safely and efficiently on site
  • Completes basic maintenance of equipment on site
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Independently proficient with company apps for site emails, safety incident reporting, completing training and other programs
  • Received internal or external certification for Rail Conductor, Barge and Truck Safety as per site requirements
  • Received internal or external certification for use of onsite mobile equipment as per site requirements
  • Demonstrate the safe operations of site equipment

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
