BioTalent is partnering with a leading life sciences manufacturer to appoint an Associate Director, Lean Deployment, to lead and elevate the organisation’s Continuous Improvement strategy across its New Castle, Delaware operations.


This is a high-impact role responsible for driving a culture of sustainable change by developing, embedding, and championing Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with site leadership and a global continuous improvement peer network to improve manufacturing and back-office processes while shaping long-term Lean strategy and deployment.


Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage leaders and shop-floor teams in Lean deployment.
  • Demonstrated history of delivering sustainable results through CI initiatives.
  • Practical experience in Lean Manufacturing and the deployment of a Lean Operating System.
  • Strong knowledge of value stream improvement tools (e.g., SMED, 6S, Visual Management, Daily Management, standard work).
  • Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • Overseeing metrology, incoming inspection, acceptance criteria, and disposition of non-conforming materials.
  • Participating in supplier selection and component specification reviews, and acting as a technical quality liaison for supplier-related issues.
  • Developing and validating quality test methods.
  • Establishing and leading corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans and quality assurance strategies
  • Reviewing quality history, supplier controls, scrap analysis, and process controls to drive defect prevention initiatives.
  • Monitoring field quality performance, analyzing field returns, and determining root cause.
  • Tracking quality trends, managing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement efforts
  • Generating and maintaining quality documentation including quality plans, SOPs, and inspection procedures.
  • Participating in Product Review Boards and leading investigations into internal and external complaints
  • Applying structured problem-solving methodologies to identify, prioritize, and resolve quality issues
  • Providing training and mentorship on quality system processes and best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline required.
  • 4–6 years of experience in Product Development or R&D within a regulated environment.
  • 6–10 years of progressive experience in a medical device quality assurance environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering fundamentals and their application in product development and manufacturing.
  • Auditor experience preferred (1–2 years).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and other applicable medical device regulations and standards.
  • Experience with quality tools and statistical methodologies including FMEA, DOE, SPC, and Minitab.
  • Experience supporting validation, design transfer, and risk-based change control processes.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical capabilities.
  • Excellent computer proficiency.

The Role 


You'll sit at the intersection of acquisitions and development — assisting with the evaluation of new opportunities and leading projects from initial underwriting and entitlement through construction and delivery.  


What You'll Own: 


  • Lead Industrial development projects from initial site evaluation and due diligence through entitlement, design coordination, construction, and delivery 
  • Manage third-party/vendor partnerships, including civil engineers, environmental engineers, land planners, surveyors, and traffic consultants 
  • Drive accountability, scope adherence, and budget control across all consultants 
  • Reviewing and interpreting civil, environmental, and geotechnical reports to assess project feasibility and risk 
  • Direct permitting and entitlement processes with municipalities 
  • Review and interpret civil, environmental, traffic, and geotechnical reports to assess feasibility and risk 
  • Oversee zoning analysis and entitlement strategy 
  • Manage project schedules, development budgets, and cash flow forecasting 
  • Coordinate with internal construction teams to ensure alignment during preconstruction and execution 
  • Participate in value engineering and scope optimization 
  • Prepare investment summaries and development updates for internal leadership 
  • Acquisitions support — site evaluation, underwriting, and deal structuring 

 


What We're Looking For 

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate development, construction management, or related field 
  • Experience with industrial, commercial, or land development is strongly preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience leading entitlements and municipal approval processes 
  • Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel proficiency 
  • Experience overseeing third-party consultants and driving accountability 
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and civil engineering documents 
  • Experience managing civil engineers, environmental consultants, surveyors, and other third-party professionals 
  • A degree in Civil Engineering is a plus, but not required — we’re open to Real Estate, Construction Management, Architecture, Finance, or related fields
