Software Build Engineer - Core Data Platform Team, EIS
Full-Time, Hybrid (Boston or Springfield)

The Opportunity

You will join the Core Data Platform team, which builds and maintains a suite of tools powering over 2,100 data pipelines in production across MassMutual. As a Software Build Engineer, you’ll manage the cloud infrastructure that supports this platform in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment. You’ll recommend and evaluate new technologies, contribute to code and patterns, and play a key role in shaping the future of data engineering at MassMutual. 

The Team

You’ll be a key part of our esteemed Core Data Platform team, focused on enabling and accelerating the delivery of new data pipelines and products. You’ll help support a thriving user community of over 12 data engineering teams, located both on-shore and off-shore. Our team is technical, highly motivated, and excels at working in a fast-paced and always evolving environment with agility and resilience. We regularly collaborate to establish enterprise strategy, working closely with architecture, governance, and enterprise infrastructure teams. 

The Impact

• Design, develop, and improve build and deployment standards and processes (e.g., CI/CD, orchestration, scheduling) to accelerate delivery and ensure reliability of data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain core infrastructure to deliver scalable, robust, and highly available systems, directly supporting 12+ data engineering teams.
• Evaluate and recommend emergent technologies, tools, processes, and reference architectures, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the design and development of new software components, enhancing platform capabilities.
• Define version control best practices and automate enforcement where appropriate.
• Improve monitoring and logging using technologies such as OpenTelemetry and New Relic, enhancing system observability and reducing downtime.
• Identify areas for process improvement and automation, increasing efficiency and reducing manual effort.
• Collaborate closely with Enterprise Infrastructure, Architecture, and Governance teams, providing mentorship to developers as appropriate.
• Work in an Agile development environment, attending daily stand-up meetings and delivering incremental improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Cloud: 5+ years of experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS) using infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation to provision infrastructure.

Ideal Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Code: 2+ years of experience as a Python or Java developer.
• Build & Deployment: Excellent understanding of build and continuous integration and deployment tools (e.g., Github Actions, Artifactory).
• Communication: Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Design: Strong foundation in algorithms, design patterns, and writing efficient code.
• Workflow: Knowledge of orchestration and scheduling tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
• Data: Understanding of data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka. 
• Autonomy: Able to work independently and provide leadership to small teams of developers.

Information Security Consultant, Security Platforms Engineering, Enterprise Information Systems (EIS)

Full-Time, Hybrid – Springfield, MA

The Opportunity

Working closely with MassMutual business partners, you’ll help design and implement solutions that address unique security challenges, streamline incident response, and automate critical workflows. The role is centered on building and maintaining resilient logging, data pipeline, and SOAR platforms in collaboration with the Security Operations Center and Security Intelligence teams, directly supporting our mission to enhance detection, response, and overall security posture.

The Team

We are looking for fast thinking, eager to learn team players to join the Security Platforms team. When you join the Security Platforms team, you'll be working with a group of people who are passionate about our security, innovation, and the success of our business partners.

The Impact:

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in advancing our enterprise’s centralized logging and SOAR capabilities. You will be responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing centralized logging tools, data pipeline, and SOAR platforms at scale, ensuring robust visibility and rapid response across the organization. In addition, you will be working with internal customers and key stakeholders such as the Security Operations Center to onboard logs, manipulate data, create playbooks, write scripts, and configure integrations.

The Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of experience in information technology field
• 1+ years experience with centralized logging, SIEM, and data pipeline
• Weekly on-call duties assigned based on team rotation (currently once every 10 weeks)

The Ideal Qualifications

• Maintaining SIEM and data pipeline platform stability, diagnosing and resolving issues related to the platforms, creating, responding to, and resolving alerts, onboarding and parsing data
• Experience with SOAR platforms
• Working knowledge of Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins, Amazon Machine Image (AMI) updates
• Experience with data manipulation and data science
• Expertise with regular expressions
• Hands on experience with or in support of any of the following vendors: Kafka, Sumo Logic, Splunk, Cribl, Crowdstrike, AWS, XSOAR, Torq, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Netskope, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Atlassian, and other applicable products preferred
• Experience with Linux system administration
• Experience with scripting languages, programming in JSON, JavaScript, python, and bash
• Experience with UNIX, Windows Servers, Java
• Knowledge of information security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, data loss protection, vulnerability scanning, Active Directory, and LDAP
• Preferred knowledge of Database Management (MySQL, Sybase, Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL), building queries and developing stored procedures
• Information security solutions development either from an architect or engineering perspective
• Experience troubleshooting inside of a corporate network
• Experience with secure data communications and applications
• Extensive knowledge of current and upcoming IT security technologies

Joining this team will give the Application EA a unique perspective and opportunity to partner with best-in-class architects on enterprise wide technology initiatives.

This role will work with Corporate Technology Finance & Investment Management line of business delivery teams, engineers, application operations, product managers, and enterprise stakeholders to help deliver innovative, data-driven systems aimed at transforming the insurance industry. As part of the application architecture team, incumbents may be responsible for any of the following:

• Technical evaluations and benchmarking of core application platforms, frameworks and technologies

The Minimum Qualifications

• Emerging Technologies in Investment Management including AI/ML
• Experience with IM Platforms: Eagle, Aladdin, Calypso, Murex or similar
