Position description
The Department of Integrative Biology (IB) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non-tenure track Lecturer positions to teach Integrative Biology courses and General Biology (BIO 1B) courses as need arises. Our department's emphasis is on organismal biology.
Teaching Responsibilities
We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium, and large size lecture and/or laboratory courses in the broad subject areas listed below:

General Duties
In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, creating and grading quizzes and/or exams, managing and assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using a learning management system (e.g., bCourses at UC Berkeley, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.). For courses with discussion or lab sections, duties may include supervision, training and coordination of Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs).
For General Biology (BIO 1B) Lab Courses: The laboratory class currently covers three major sections: Evolution, Ecology, and Plant Biology/Organismal Diversity. Exercises include investigations into population genetics, phylogenetic relationships, macroevolution, bioindicators, and structure and function of organisms. BIO 1B is a gateway course to the major field of Integrative Biology that consists of three one-hour lectures and one four-hour combined discussion and lab each week. Lecturers will be required to lead one discussion and lab per week, create assignments, grade assignments, attend a Friday instructional meeting, be familiar with lecture, proctor exams, hold office hours and complete other instructional duties as assigned. Senior lecturers mentor new hires and GSIs.

Preferred qualifications
Familiarity with a web-based learning management system (e.g., Canvas) for grading and classroom management is preferred, as well as experience teaching a college-level course in the biological sciences (for example, previously employed as a graduate student instructor, teaching assistant, lecturer, or similar).
For General Biology (BIO 1B): Experience working with computer-based phylogenetic programs and teaching a class similar to UC Berkeley's BIO 1B lab courses is preferred.
A Ph.D., M.D., (or equivalent international degree) in the biological sciences is preferred.

The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Junior or Assistant Specialist. The positions are to assist in research in economic development, labor, and health economics, applying rigorous methods for causal inference and machine learning .

General Duties:
- Research Design & Analysis (20%): Assist in designing and interpreting analyses using advanced econometric methods, including reduced form approaches (difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity, instrumental variables) and structural econometrics (method of moments, maximum likelihood, dynamic programming), with a focus on causal inference.
- Data Collection & Field Operations (15%): Support the design and implementation of field experiments, survey development, and primary data collection activities; monitor data quality and coordinate with field teams to ensure research protocols are followed.
- Data Management & Programming (20%): Write efficient, well-documented code to manipulate large datasets and implement complex analyses; maintain data infrastructure using collaborative and replicable programming practices.

Tweaking Cat Studios is an independent game studio developing our first title. The project is fully funded and currently in the prototype phase, with a planned launch in 2028. We are building a small, highly collaborative team focused on crafting a distinctive and cohesive player experience.
We are looking for an experienced Art Director to define, guide, and protect the artistic vision of the game from early prototype through production and launch.

Role Overview
The Art Director partners closely with Game Design and Engineering to establish and maintain the visual identity of the game. This role is responsible for defining the artistic direction, guiding production art pipelines, and ensuring visual consistency across all aspects of the game.

The Opportunity: The Palate of a Chef, the Mind of a Scientist
TCHO is looking for a rare professional to serve as the tactical engine of our research and production. This individual will fill a high-impact role that bridges the gap between creative sensory exploration and technical production. This is a hands-on role at our factory, responsible for tending the entire lifecycle of our chocolate. This begins with the cacao beans being grown around the world by our farmer partners, to the final production of high-end chocolate and confections at our production facility in Berkeley. We are seeking a maker who can manage complex data and production schedules while maintaining a disciplined focus on creativity and flavor.
This position is 100% onsite due to the hands-on nature of the role, including production, sensory evaluation, laboratory work, and small-batch confectionery manufacturing.
1. Sensory Mastery & Tasting
- Daily Analysis: Lead disciplined daily sensory panels of raw cacao liquors, experimental batches, finished chocolate, and confections to ensure every product meets TCHO standards.
- Raw Material Selection: Participate in the selection and sensory analysis of all raw materials, including cocoa beans, liquor, powder, butter, and inclusions such as nuts or vanilla.

3. Production, Formulation & Retail Confectionery
- Formula Creation: Develop and manage proprietary daily production formulas used by the manufacturing team.
- Retail Confectionery Production: Act as a Confectioner for TCHO Retail, responsible for creating small-batch and small-lot confections for retail customers, including hand-crafted and limited-run items.
- Efficiency & Scalability: Support factory operations by optimizing run times, flush materials, FIFO practices, and small-batch scalability.
- SOP Compliance: Ensure all product SOPs are followed, including requirements related to cross-contamination, Organic, Kosher, and Fair Trade certifications.
4. New Product Development (NPD)
- Dream-to-Reality: Translate creative product concepts into consistent, repeatable production.
- Prototyping: Execute hands-on prototyping and produce sales and retail samples, including chocolate formulas, plant-based ganache, enrobed items, panned goods, and other confections.
