A leading Mid-Atlantic mechanical construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Executive to lead multiple large-scale commercial HVAC and plumbing projects across the Northern Virginia / Washington DC region.

This role is designed for a hands-on leader with deep mechanical construction experience who can actively engage in field operations, make critical decisions in real time, and guide project teams through complex multi-million-dollar work.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for multiple concurrent commercial HVAC and/or plumbing projects

• Maintain active involvement with field operations while supporting project managers and superintendents

• Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards aligned with company practices

• Lead staffing and coordination of key field positions in collaboration with construction leadership

• Manage relationships with owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and vendors

• Monitor project safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance while implementing corrective actions when needed

• Oversee financial performance including revenue forecasts, schedules of values, and cash flow analysis

• Identify scope changes and prepare pricing for change orders

• Coordinate with internal teams including preconstruction, fabrication, safety, purchasing, and BIM departments

• Represent the company in client meetings, strategy discussions, and negotiations

• Support business development efforts with existing clients and within the regional market


Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in mechanical construction (commercial HVAC and/or plumbing)

• Experience managing multiple multi-million-dollar projects simultaneously

• Strong background working for a mechanical subcontractor (not a general contractor)

• Demonstrated ability to lead field teams and make time-sensitive decisions that keep projects moving

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent field experience

• Strong financial and operational understanding of construction project delivery

• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills

• Proficiency with construction management software platforms and Microsoft Office


Preferred:

• Experience with BIM coordination processes

• Experience with Procore or similar project management platforms

WRA is seeking a highly motivated Senior Transportation Construction Manager to support our growing construction management practice in Northern Virginia.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, hands-on project and personnel management skills, and the technical expertise needed to oversee complex transportation and infrastructure construction projects.

Responsibilities Manage all phases of transportation construction projects, ensuring compliance with design plans, specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.

Provide day‑to‑day oversight of construction activities, contract administration, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance.

Lead and supervise construction management teams of up to 10 personnel, including inspectors, construction engineers, and support staff.

Contribute to staff development, mentoring, training, and performance management for team members.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, local jurisdictions, utilities, and internal stakeholders.

Prepare and review project documentation such as RFIs, work orders, change orders, and progress reports.

Coordinate with utility companies; experience with utility relocation or utility construction is highly desirable.

Maintain thorough project records, monitor contractor performance, and assist in dispute resolution when needed.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

8–12 years of experience in transportation construction management (highways, bridges, roadway improvements, or related infrastructure).

Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.

Ability and commitment to obtain both a Virginia PE license and CCM certification within 12 months of employment (if only one is currently held).

Strong knowledge of VDOT standards, specifications, and construction procedures.

Proven experience managing project staff and multi‑disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with utility relocation or utility construction projects.

Proficiency with project management tools, scheduling software, and document control systems.

Additional Training or Certifications: VDOT materials certifications including Asphalt, Concrete, Soils & Aggregate and Pavement Marking ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification DEQ Erosion & Sediment and Storm Water Management certifications Intermediate Work Zone Safety/ATSSA TCS Certification Physical Requirements (Essential Functions): This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions.

Duties may include: Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting—for extended periods of time Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to100 yards.
