Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this Job, the majority of the time the employee would be working in a standard office environment. However, the employee may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts and may work in high precarious places; the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee may at times work in an environment where the following safety equipment are needed: steel toecap shoes, hearing protection, hardhat eye protection, and/or hair protection. Employee would need to abide by all safety guidelines including OSHA regulations, lock-out/tag-out, etc. Work schedule can be affected by production, downtime and many other variables. The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is a certified medical professional responsible for helping doctors and other health professionals diagnose patients' ailments through the operation of special equipment that uses high-frequency sound waves to record images of internal organs. The incumbent in this role works directly with patients and their families, doctors and other medical personnel in a dynamic and professional environment to provide the highest level of quality healthcare to all patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:- Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed and proper methods of ultrasound techniques.

- Keys test data and patient information into computer to maintain record of test results.
- Generates detailed preliminary reports of findings.
- Communicates STAT findings as detailed in organizational processes.
- Consents patients as needed and ensures documents are transferred to patient’s medical records.
- Assists physician with ultrasound guided biopsies and/or invasive procedures.
- Maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s requirements and industry standards, at least once a month.
- Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate the utilization of computerized documentation systems.
- Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
- Influences and create SOPs for Ultrasound best practices.
- Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
- Assists with transporting patients to and from room.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Travels to different office locations as needed.

PAY RANGE:

- Perform history and/or physical exams on patients presenting for care in area of expertise.
Assess and diagnose illnesses, including chronic and acute conditions.
Formulate, document and monitor a treatment plan.
Order and monitor therapeutic interventions including but not limited to diets, laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests as deemed necessary by patient history and/or physical exam.
Provide clinical consultation, order interdisciplinary consults.
Professional practice including but not limited to prescription of medications in accordance with Federal and State Law & Rules and CCHMC policy.
Attains and maintains competency in subspecialty practice, skills and procedures in accordance with Joint Commission standards for focused (FPPE) and ongoing (OPPE) professional practice evaluation.

Develops, prioritizes, evaluates & modifies an individualized comprehensive plan of care.
Addresses each diagnosis or issue, as appropriate.

Evaluation
- Uses a systematic, ongoing evaluation of the assessment data & outcomes to revise or resolve the diagnoses, outcomes, the plan of care, & the implementation as needed; Evaluates the accuracy of the diagnosis, effectiveness of the interventions & the plan of care strategies in relation to attainment of expected outcomes; Includes the patient/family/caregiver & other healthcare providers; Bases the evaluation process on advanced knowledge, practice, research, & documents appropriately; Utilizes the results of the evaluation to determine the impact on the patient/family/caregiver, organization, & system to make/recommend process or structural changes including policy, procedure, or protocols as appropriate.
