School Counselor Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, collects, and uses data to develop and inform the school counseling program’s design and implementation, and to evaluate stakeholder impact.
  • Collaborates on the development and management of the school counseling program.
  • Serves on the Upper School Leadership Team, contributing to broader planning and decisions within the Upper School.
  • Contributes to the ongoing review and development of existing academic course catalog and academic advisement program.
  • Communicates and shares the goals and program services of the comprehensive school counseling program with stakeholders including students, faculty & staff, and parents.
  • Develops and revises annually a written plan for the effective delivery of the school counseling program.
  • Plans, coordinates, and provides classroom guidance lessons reflective of the divisional goals and program evaluation data.
  • Assists students in developing or improving academic and personal / social skills that
  • promote a positive school experience.


School Counselor Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in School Counseling.
  • An understanding of related Indiana law pertaining to mandatory reporting, confidentiality, and crisis related topics that impact the successful implementation of a school counseling program.
  • Demonstrated experience (5 - 7 years) in the core components of a school counseling program: human growth and development, career and personal development, helping relationships, group and individual work, and assessment and program evaluation.
