As a Sr. Production and Engineering Technician at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the Production organization. This is a small but growing team of highly motivated people passionate about delivering quality products and services on time, with unquestionable value. You'll play a critical role in the build, operation, integration, test, diagnostics, inspection, and maintenance of highly reliable systems, including electro-mechanical assemblies, wiring harnesses, components, and subassemblies. You'll also help with the installation of those systems onto aircraft. Your work will support various product development phases such as prototype, research and development, aircraft certification, and recurring production. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve as the last line of defense for ensuring that our safety-critical systems are reliable and produced to the intended engineering requirements.
Responsibilities
Build, operate, integrate, test, diagnose, inspect, and maintain highly reliable systems, including avionics and electromechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, and circuit card assemblies
Read, interpret, and work from drawings, controlled documentation, and processes such as drawings, layouts, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and master parts lists
Develop and improve manufacturing and installation instructions
Assure product and process quality by testing finished-product and process capabilities
Resolve product non-conformances and collaborate with the quality team to implement corrective actions
Record work performed in a clear, precise, and complete manner
Assist with the development of production and improvement processes
Basic Success Criteria
7+ years of professional experience building and testing electromechanical assemblies, fabrication, integration, or mechanical assembly experience
4+ years of hands-on experience reviewing technical designs and working from drawings, schematics, layouts, assembly/procedures, master parts lists, and other controlled documentation
Ability to proficiently use a PC/Mac, Google Suite, manufacturing execution systems, JIRA, or equivalent tools
Ability to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet, with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Criteria
IPC and/or J-STD certification
Experience working in an electro-mechanical manufacturing company, a precision manufacturing company, or a high-volume manufacturing company
Electro-mechanical assembly and prototype development experience

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure mechanical and electrical expertise is available to production and other departments to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds in a 24-hour 7-day per week operation.
- Ensure the site has an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program which has a maintenance strategy for all assets to remove unscheduled down time, increase the lifespan of assets by keeping them in optimal condition, and contain maintenance strategies so assets are timely maintained to minimize costs of asset breakdowns.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Collaborate with plant management and corporate staff to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness by utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques and a Management Operating Structure (MOS).
- Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize capital improvement projects. Recommend expense or capital projects which are necessary or will improve productivity, safety, or operational efficiency.
- Remain current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
- Prepare and manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Perform replacement analysis of equipment considering space costs, depreciation, service life, and maintenance costs; advise production management of information and recommend appropriate actions.
- Source and evaluate vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain quality products and services at competitive prices. Negotiate contracts and agreements with external parties as necessary.
- Promote a safe and environmentally sound workplace that complies with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide management of employees directly or through supervisors to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action, and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate in negotiations, grievances, or other contract-related activities and discussions.
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
- 8+ years' experience in engineering or maintenance functions in a food manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience of maintenance personnel is required.
- Experience managing budgets and capital projects.
- Ability to develop, scope, schedule, budget, and lead plant capex projects utilizing CAD and/or other tools.
- Experience with electrical motor control circuitry up to 480V 3 phase is preferred.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting; Allen Bradley experience preferred.
- Ammonia/Refrigeration level 2 certification required (or willing to obtain certification).
- Boiler 1B or greater MN license required (or willing to obtain certification).
- Technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, regulatory compliance, and environmental best practices required.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Lead and govern design-related CAPA activities across the R&D organization, ensuring timely, compliant, and effective resolution of complex design, verification, validation, and product performance issues.
- Oversee and review root cause investigations using rigorous, data-driven problem-solving methodologies, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriately scoped, risk-based, sustainable, and effectively linked to design controls, risk management, and product lifecycle processes.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in R&D within a medical device organization with at least 5 years of CAPA processes and regulatory compliance requirements (FDA, ISO 13485).
- 2+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
- Proven experience in managing CAPA for design and development activities
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expert-level understanding of CAPA methodologies, root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA), and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

- Strong technical skills in water/wastewater treatment processes, pumping facilities, and collection/distribution systems.

Preferred Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater consulting, with an emphasis on treatment plant projects.
- Direct experience working with Hampton Roads and Virginia municipal/utility clients and familiarity with regional permitting and regulatory requirements.
- Prior responsibility for project financial performance, staff management/mentorship, and pursuit strategy on key water/wastewater projects.
- Involvement in professional organizations such as WEF and AWWA.
