The Senior Director of Product Management for the Specialty Vehicle segment leads the strategic direction, platform development, and lifecycle management of the ambulance and fire apparatus product lines. In this role, you will oversee a team of product managers and collaborate closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, sales, and executive leadership to build world-class, mission-critical vehicles. You'll be responsible for defining and executing a cohesive product vision that prioritizes modularity, standardization, cost control, and responsiveness to evolving customer and regulatory needs.

Product & Platform Strategy

• Define and lead the overarching product and platform strategy for modular fire apparatus and ambulances.
• Build and maintain a configurable product architecture that balances customization with manufacturing scalability.
• Own the multi-year product roadmap across all vehicle platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals, plant capabilities, and customer needs.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and mentor a team of product managers.
• Foster a culture of innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the product organization.

Manufacturing & Engineering Integration

• Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM), platform modularity, and lean product design principles across the organization.
• Partner with operations and engineering leaders to streamline product architectures for build efficiency and quality.

Customer & Market Insight

• In conjunction with sales, serve as a key voice of the customergathering feedback from fire departments, EMS agencies, dealers, and industry events.
• Monitor market trends, technology developments, and competitor offerings to identify innovation opportunities.

Business Performance

• Own product profitability: define targets, monitor performance (cost, margin, volume), and lead improvement efforts.
• Standardize product configuration and BOM structures to optimize inventory, reduce variation, and lower build times.
• Align product lifecycle management with warranty data, service feedback, and total cost of ownership.

Compliance & Risk

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards (NFPA, KKK, SAE, CAAS, FMVSS, etc.).
• Manage product risk and obsolescence planning, working with supply chain and engineering.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Management, or related field (Master's or MBA strongly preferred).
• 815+ years of experience in product management, including 5+ years in a leadership role within manufacturing or complex vehicle systems.
• Proven track record of managing modular product platforms in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of emergency vehicle design (fire apparatus and/or ambulances) and related standards and compliance.
• Strong business acumen and experience in P&L responsibility or product-level financial management.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with PLM/ERP systems, configuration tools (CPQ), and BOM management at a system level.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in chassis integration, upfitting, or specialty vehicle manufacturing.
• Experience leading product teams through major redesigns or platform transitions.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or value stream mapping methodologies

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is between $147,000 - $250,000 and in New York is $147,000 - $250,000. This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. • Assemble parts to complete units and component parts in a specialized area

Responsibilities:

• Receiving Inspection: Develop and implement a robust Receiving Inspection plan based on supplier quality performance, Part/Process criticality, and risks. Utilize training and implementation of statistical sampling plans as needed.
• Supplier Audits & Qualifications: Lead on-site audits and evaluate suppliers on their manufacturing and supporting processes to ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supplier Performance Monitoring: Review and implement a robust supplier performance monitoring process (working with Purchasing), analyze the trend on Quality escapes from suppliers and recommend improvement plan for supplier development to improve the Quality performance.

• Industry Trends & Innovation: Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, make improvement recommendations to leadership based on new insights.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar technical field with 5 years of experience in quality engineering focusing on supplier quality within the manufacturing industry OR associate degree from technical college with 10 years of experience.
• Knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, Gage R&R, CTQ, SPC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto, and control charts are a plus.
• Experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, Paint and Electrical/Mechanical Assembly processes is a plus.

What you'll get to do...

Define the Enterprise Integration & Partner Platform Strategy

• Lead the strategy and roadmap for GoDaddy Commerce's headless commerce APIs and partner SDKs that enable external software platforms to embed payments and commerce workflows.
• Develop a clear vision for who integrates with us, why, and how — prioritizing integrations that deliver high merchant and partner value aligned to our platform core competencies.
• Build and maintain a deep understanding of partner evaluation criteria, technical architecture, and enterprise buyer needs — positioning GoDaddy Commerce competitively alongside platforms like Stripe, Adyen, and Finix.

Champion Enterprise & ISV Partner Workflows

• Serve as the voice of enterprise software partners — from technical architects to product leaders — ensuring our APIs, documentation, and certification processes reflect the needs of real integration teams. 
• Map and optimize end-to-end partner workflows: onboarding → certification → go-live → reporting → revenue share → compliance.
• Translate integration complexity (devices, stores, payment endpoints, invoicing, virtual terminals, headless POS) into scalable, configurable platform solutions.

Drive Payments & Commerce Platform Capabilities

• Partner with engineering to define APIs and services for payments, orders, catalog, inventory, customers, and sales channels that support both embedded and in-person commerce.
• Build support for advanced enterprise requirements including: 
  • Multi-entity and multi-location configuration
  • Reporting and commissions APIs
  • Activity and transaction tracking
  • Risk and fraud scoring hooks
  • Customer authentication and tokenization flows
  • Reseller administrator portal
• Collaborate with Payments, Risk, and FinOps teams to ensure accurate settlement, reporting, and reconciliation across embedded payment flows.

Influence and Collaborate with Enterprise Clients

• Meet directly with enterprise partners and resellers to understand their technical and business integration needs, gather feedback, and guide co-development pilots and close sales.
• Partner with Business Development and Solutions Engineering to support partner evaluation cycles, ensuring APIs, sandbox tools, and documentation demonstrate enterprise-grade capability and reliability.
• Translate client conversations into actionable platform requirements, balancing enterprise flexibility with platform scalability.

Deliver Hypothesis-Driven Product Discovery

• Use experimentation and partner pilots to validate API features and developer experiences before scaling.
• Measure what matters: partner integration velocity, merchant attach and retention, API usage, revenue contribution, and partner NPS.
• Continuously iterate roadmap priorities based on adoption, partner satisfaction, and ecosystem performance.

Scale and Evangelize the Partner Platform

• Collaborate with GTM and Solution Engineering to create integration blueprints, API playbooks, and sandbox environments that reduce time-to-value for new partners.
• Define certification standards and reference architectures for recurring vertical use cases.
• Share insights and findings across GoDaddy Commerce to shape our long-term platform strategy for embedded commerce and payments.

Your experience should include...

• 8+ years of product management experience in platform, API, or payments products, with deep knowledge of payments architecture and commerce primitives.
• 2+ years of ISO 8583 financial messaging experience.
• Proven success embedding payments/commerce into enterprise ISV and middleware platforms with measurable adoption outcomes.
• Expert in headless and API-first product development, including API design tradeoffs, SDK usability, and developer enablement.
• Strong client-facing skills leading discovery, solution reviews, and executive briefings with enterprise partners.
• Track record of cross-functional influence across engineering, business development, operations, and compliance teams.

You might also have...
