The Mechanical Estimating Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all mechanical estimating activities for facility-based projects, including piping, mechanical, welding, equipment setting, and associated systems. This role ensures estimates are accurate, competitive, complete, and aligned with company standards, execution strategies, and market conditions.

The Mechanical Estimating Manager provides technical leadership, mentorship, and quality control across the estimating team while supporting bid strategy, risk evaluation, and executive decision-making. This position bridges estimating, operations, project controls, supply chain, and business development to ensure estimates support profitable, buildable work and successful project execution.

Primary Job Function:

· Lead and manage mechanical estimating efforts for facility projects across all bid phases.

· Oversee the development of accurate, complete mechanical estimates derived from drawings, specifications, and bid documents.

· Assign estimating responsibilities and manage workload distribution across the estimating team.

· Review and approve detailed takeoffs for piping, welding, equipment, valves, structural components, and mechanical systems.

· Ensure labor build-ups are developed using appropriate production rates, crew compositions, historical data, and execution strategies.

· Provide technical oversight to validate constructability, installation methods, and labor assumptions.

· Direct coordination with Supply Chain to solicit, evaluate, and normalize vendor and subcontractor pricing.

· Establish and enforce estimating standards, methodologies, and documentation requirements.

· Lead identification and documentation of risks, assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications.

· Support bid strategy development, value engineering, and alternative construction approaches.

· Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and internal estimate reviews.

· Ensure estimate summaries, cost breakdowns, and pricing packages are accurate and executive ready.

· Support conceptual, budgetary, FEL, and detailed estimates as required.

· Ensure complete estimate logic, quantities, assumptions, and risks are communicated during project handoff.

· Provide Project Controls with validated cost data for job setup, WBS alignment, and cost tracking.

· Manage multiple bids simultaneously and provide status updates to leadership.

· Maintain organized, auditable estimate files and supporting documentation.

· Perform takeoffs and data entry task as required to support workload.

Leadership & Management Responsibilities:

· Mentor, coach, and develop senior, junior, and entry-level mechanical estimators.

· Establish performance expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement within the estimating team.

· Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of estimating personnel.

· Serve as the primary technical authority for mechanical estimating questions and issue resolution.

· Promote consistency, accuracy, and professionalism across all mechanical estimates.

· Lead post-bid and post-job reviews to capture lessons learned and improve estimating accuracy.

Required Technical Skills:

· Advanced proficiency in mechanical estimating for piping, welding, equipment installation, and structural components.

· Strong understanding of piping materials, pressure classes, fittings, fabrication, and erection practices.

· Expert-level ability to develop and review detailed labor estimates using crew-based production rates.

· Advanced interpretation of P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical drawings, and scope documents.

· Experience overseeing unit-rate, resource-based, and detailed line-item estimates.

· Proficiency in estimating software (InEight, Navisworks, Bluebeam, or similar).

· Advanced Excel capability (complex formulas, lookups, pivots, cost models).

· Strong knowledge of mechanical construction means and methods, including rigging, hydro-testing, and commissioning.

· Familiarity with ASME, API, and applicable mechanical construction standards.

· Ability to identify constructability risks, productivity impacts, and schedule influences.

· Understanding of indirect costs, equipment rates, consumables, labor burdens, and allowances.

· Experience developing conceptual and budgetary estimates with limited information.

· Knowledge of WBS structures, cost codes, and estimating alignment with project controls.

· Ability to support schedule logic, durations, and manpower planning.

Nice to Have:

· JD Edwards experience (cost codes).

· Power BI for estimating KPIs.

· Familiarity with construction scheduling software (Primavera P6 or MS Project).

· Ability to participate in client technical reviews.

· Experience developing manpower loading curves or sequencing plans.

· Field Experience (mechanical/piping/welding experience).

· Experience in Oil, Gas & Midstream industrial estimating and project management.

Experience:

· 8+ years of mechanical estimating experience in the Oil & Gas or Midstream industry.

· Demonstrated experience estimating facility, terminal, and industrial projects.

· Prior experience leading or mentoring estimators preferred.

Education / Training:

· Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

· Equivalent field experience or 8–12 years of industry experience accepted.

· Professional certifications (AACEI CEP, PMP, ASPE) preferred.

Job Summary

The Director, Facilities Design is responsible for overseeing design projects for Sysco's global operations. Sysco Corporation's facilities design function is responsible for the conceptual design of new and renovated facilities including floorplans, site plans, and elevations. The design function works closely with Supply Chain Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Operations to develop facility designs that best meet the needs of the individual business units. The Sysco design team then collaborates with and directs outsourced architectural and engineering design teams to develop signed and sealed construction documents to be used for permitting and field operations. The Sysco design team is responsible for archiving and maintaining current all facility A/E and material handling system documents for all operations.

Sysco's portfolio of real estate holdings includes over 250 major owned and leased properties (primarily distribution centers, processing plants, and office facilities) as well as over 500 minor owned and leased properties (primarily shuttle yards and remote domicile yards). Sysco's owned properties comprise over 42 million square feet of improved space.

Sysco Corporation's capital plan includes approximately 20 major active projects per year and multiple reconfigurations and reworks projects. The Director, Facilities Design will foster a collaborative environment where all necessary stakeholders are involved in facility design projects to meet the current and projected needs of Sysco's business units.

Responsibilities

• Lead the activities of 8 Sysco direct employees who work closely with the business units, supply chain engineering and the construction group in planning, preliminary design, layout iterations RFP (request for proposal) documentation and final design coordination for multiple projects nationwide.
• Coordinate with and manage multiple outside design professionals and consultants on an as-needed basis.
• Lead design teams responsible for distribution facilities.
• Develop and maintain design and construction standards for Sysco distribution projects.
• Ensure that DC (distribution center) designs are current with best operational practices and incorporate state of the art materials and equipment.
• Ensure corporate goals related to sustainability are achieved in terms of facility designs.
• Lead design teams responsible for manufacturing and processing facilities design including meat and seafood processing, fruit and vegetable processing, blending and filling operations, and packaging lines.

• Collaborate with the real estate, construction, and business teams to develop conceptual layouts and scenarios.
• Develop the best organizational structure to execute construction and processing design projects.
• Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain top-talent individuals to staff the design organization whether they are outsourced or in-house direct-hire team members.
• Create onboarding, training, and ongoing associate development plans and ensure that they are successfully implemented.
• Create and develop plans related to the necessary tools needed by design and construction teams to be successful. This includes but is not limited to CAD software and hardware, Project Management software and hardware, cloud-based real estate portfolio software, and tools for project estimating.
• Create and successfully implement plans for communicating information to all design and construction professionals including the strategic vision, tactical information related to current plans and projects, and means for associates to communicate with each other as well as upstream.

Qualifications

Education

• A Bachelors's degree in Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
• Masters degree in technical area or business preferred
• Process engineering experience required with a focus on meat is required

Experience

• Experience with food processing or food distribution facilities projects required
• Experience successfully leading teams of professionals in a corporate setting required

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

• Professional certification or licensure as an architect, engineer, or construction project manager is preferred
• Robust PC skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project and AutoCAD) required
• Familiarity with industrial structures and building systems preferred including insulated metal panel construction, ammonia refrigeration systems, automatic fire protection systems, HVAC and mechanical systems, electrical and lighting systems, plumbing, and wastewater treatment systems is preferred
• Familiarity with OSHA, PSM (platform-specific model), and RMP (Risk Management Plan) regulatory guidelines and programs preferred
• Knowledge of construction contracts including lien and bonding processes required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform GPS-based field surveys to capture existing site and utility information
• Collect, verify, and document field data for use in design and construction activities
• Prepare and update drawings using AutoCAD based on field observations and survey results
• Conduct constructability reviews of preliminary layouts and design exhibits
• Document existing site conditions through notes, sketches, and photographs
• Perform electronic utility locates and assist with measuring utility depths as required
• Understand and apply knowledge of rights-of-way, easements, parcels, and private property constraints
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project managers to resolve field-related issues
• Represent the company during site visits, coordination meetings, and preconstruction activities
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, business owners, and stakeholders, including de-escalation when needed
• Adhere to all safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and field protocols
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support project delivery

Required Education and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in field engineering, surveying, utility coordination, or technical drafting
• Experience performing GPS survey work and supporting design teams with field data
• Must be based in Texas and available to work locally during normal business hours
