Description: The Compliance & Risk Consultant supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of the framework for compliance and/or risk management.
The primary function will be identifying key controls and performing design and effectiveness testing of those controls.
May be assigned to support a specific department or area of the business.
Scope may be limited to one regulatory agency or may include multiple agencies, laws, and regulations applicable to a specific department or area of the business.
Supports revisions to the compliance and/or risk programs and tools as needed based on changes to applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
For risk management, develops and maintains a risk register, coordinating with various risk owners to track operational & enterprise risks and the effectiveness of risk mitigation activities.
Partners with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Requirement/Risk Owners, and business SMEs to develop controls, and metrics to hold the assigned owners accountable for compliance and/or risk management performance.
Supports change management, training, and communication of compliance standards, processes & results and/or risk management standards and risk analyses & assessments.
The Compliance & Risk Consultant may also act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and respond to data/reporting inquiries.

Overview

The Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering inputs integral to both small and large-scale hydro and dam projects. You will lead and mentor teams, support management of production and coordinate delivery of engineering work products often with multi-disciplinary project team members and external stakeholders. You will not only support and help grow the broader engineering team capabilities, but your particular focus will be on continuing the development of our hydropower capabilities and working with key staff in growing the business.
You’ll also be involved in supporting project management duties, coordinating with internal and external clients as well as assisting with guiding and mentoring other engineers within the team. In this role you will lead teams conducting technical work for feasibility studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out inspections for rehabilitation projects for dams and hydroelectric facilities. Your particular focus will be design delivery and mentorship, but you will also be involved in the proposal process. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers, technicians, scientists, and other industry-leading peers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide input to those managing and executing multiple projects (small to large) from the proposal stage through to completion
- Establish connections with other departments to support and enhance service delivery
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines and multidisciplinary project teams to execute project deliverables, as well as ensure that quality objectives, schedules, and budgets are met
- Mentor junior staff
- Design modifications to, or entirely new electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems related to dams, control structures, water retaining structures, switchyards and hydroelectric generating stations

About You
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights should include:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; A post-graduate degree is an asset
- Minimum of 7-15 years of experience in electrical engineering with demonstrated project management skills (tracking budgets and meeting schedules)
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington, Oregon, or California, as well as eligible for registration as a professional engineer in other states via comity within three months of starting.
- Previous consulting experience is preferred but not required.

- Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
- Backup power systems (including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Direct Current systems and fuel fired backup)
- Lighting (including emergency and exit lighting systems)
- Fiber and copper structured cable systems, and associated networking equipment
- Distributed Control System (DCS) and PLC Automation, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) integration (including any programming experience)
- Protection systems experience, including specifying, setting and verifying (include reference to voltages)
- Load flow analysis, system modelling, arc-flash, grounding, and other electrical studies (include reference to software used and any training)
- North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)/Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) planning
- Physical or cyber security planning or design
- Unit outage planning
- Other renewable energy experience

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of control systems, with a focus on Variable Frequency Drives, Profibus, Digital Multimeters, and Pump/Motor Controls.
Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair control systems equipment in various field locations.
Troubleshoot and repair issues with Variable Frequency Drives, Profibus, Digital Multimeters, and Pump/Motor Controls.
Interpret and work from electrical ladder schematics to identify and resolve issues.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal operation.
Utilize PLCs, pressure/level/flow controls, and electrical wiring knowledge to perform duties.
Perform electrical troubleshooting, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
Develop and implement ladder logic for control systems.
Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure all control systems function properly.
Comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Qualifications: A college degree in a related engineering field is required.
A minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar role.
Extensive knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives, Profibus, Digital Multimeters, and Pump/Motor Controls.
Proficiency in interpreting electrical ladder schematics.
Experience with PLCs, pressure/level/flow controls, and electrical wiring.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with ladder logic.
Proficient in the use of Relay.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Must be able to work in various field locations and adapt to changing work environments.
