Job Purpose

 

Be the liaison between Project Execution’s new model team and the Department. Lead/coordinate new model event support and report on new model readiness through trial stages and mass production.
 

 

Key Accountabilities 

 

Lead New Model Trials:

  • Create training strategy for new model change points.
  • Identify and document trial problems and discuss countermeasures.
  • Communicate initial issues from build events within the department as well as outside of the department.
  • Inform team members and other departments of project change points.
  • Support quality problems and recommend countermeasures before mass production.
  • Coordinate with the Project Execution team of any design updates that are needed.


New Model Start-Up and Mass Production:

  • Ensure project remains on schedule.
  • Respond immediately to complex issues during production.
  • Utilize necessary tools to understand root causes and implement containment.
  • Create problem summary and reflect on mass production issues.
  • Inspect product and new model development (e.g., check tolerances, fixtures, parts, etc.)
  • Update and track items; create problem summary and reflect on mass production issues.
  • Conduct mass production audits for problem prevention.
  • Conduct testing/sampling for quality verification.
  • Ensure all system readiness is completed within the department. 
  • Report on overall readiness to the plant. 
     

New Model Design and Study Support:

  • Be the liaison between Project Execution and the Paint Department.
  • Coordinate department support for new model studies.
  • Provide feedback to the new model team on department characteristics and current struggles points.
  • Provide reflections to help the new model team drive changes in the design.

 

 

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in manufacturing.
  • 0-6 years based on education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and processes.
  • Ability to present information to varying audiences.

Job Purpose

The Electrical Controls Design role provides high quality, reasonably priced, on-time hardware, software, and safety design solutions to ensure stable new model and new technology introduction in all HDMA North American manufacturing facilities.

Key Accountabilities

• Work in an engineering team atmosphere understand design requirements to create/modify automated production equipment.

• Conduct electrical controls design for automated equipment to generate hardware drawings to be used to assemble/build/wire a full controls system for production equipment

• Conduct electrical design to produce engineering software to create the control architecture for production equipment processes. (i.e. PLC, HMI, Motion Control, and Robotic programming).

•Provide on-site support to install, system up, and mature the control system for production equipment.

Job Purpose

Lead and manage the commodity desk from a Q/C/D/Strategic perspective. Create strategies, identify improvement opportunities, communicate effectively, gather necessary resources, assign tasks, and implement the strategy. Monitor progress and performance via plan versus actual.  Resolve quality and delivery problems by working with stakeholders and suppliers. Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute overall RM commodity strategy for responsible material/ commodity considering production volumes, part specification requirements, and capacity analytics. Strategy includes annual cost reduction to achieve company targets and initiatives.
  • Provide technical know-how related to raw material Q and D issues by working with stakeholders.
  • Lead supplier negotiations of cost; ensuring best practice is utilized to achieve Honda’s cost target, develop and recommend opportunities to reduce cost based on the market and overall strategy, Pricing Management – develop and lead cost optimization based on usage, supplier QCDD performance, and material chemistry.
  • Lead supply chain projects and C/D themes by working with HTA, Honda lants and suppliers; communicate across the organization to secure support and resources to execute strategies.
  • Supplier Management - Development of supplier performance goals, evaluation of supplier performance and recommendation on supplier improvement plans where applicable.
  • Continuing education to support technical know-how (attend events/QAV’s etc).
  • Mentor associate within team on technical know-how and fostering development.

  • BS degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Mgmt, or equivalent relevant experience.

Job Purpose

Lead purchasing sub-team/group within the unit, responsible for the assigned auto part commodity piece price, investment, and annual cost reduction, all of which have significant impact on HDMA financial performance.  Establishment of part and supplier strategies through understanding of the Global and North American supply base, manufacturing process and critical part design elements. Job Purpose:

Collaborate with design from feasibility through design phase to achieve a product that can be manufactured within the factory’s capabilities while working with MMC’s to prepare and execute the trial phase of the new model development.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Job Purpose:


As a Principal CAE Engineer in the Advanced CAE Department, you will be responsible to lead a project or team for CAE model and method creation related to structural based CAE for strength and reliability.  Proficient use and understanding of CAE methods contributes to improved optimization, speed, and efficiency of our products and development processes.


Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Lead and provide technical guidance for a team(s) or project(s) to develop and validate new CAE methods for both specification setting and product verification.
  • Develops and evaluates metrics for quality of modeling and analysis.
  • Assist in setting the plan for the technical direction of CAE methods development
  • Collaborate with principal test and principal design engineers to ensure CAE models are achieving accuracy targets. 
  • Collaborate with other principal engineers to ensure the CAE methods are meeting the requirements for application to development projects.
  • Create documentation for the registration of CAE Models as a verified tool for specification setting and product verification.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

 

  • BS in mechanical engineering.  Advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience based on education
  • Expertise with software such as Simulia’s MODSIM, Abaqus, Optistruct, and Ansa. Also expertise with programming language software such as Matlab, Python, and Excel VBA.
  • Expertise with creation of new CAE Models/Methods and performing verification and validation.

Job Purpose

As a senior member of the Advanced CAE Department, you will be responsible for creating and validating 1D CAE models and processes related to vehicle dynamics, powertrain propulsion & thermal systems, and electrical systems. Proficient use of CAE contributes to improved optimization, speed, and efficiency of our products and development processes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop CAE methods that accurately represent the part or system of interest. Model fidelity should match the type of decision being made with the model. Model development will be for both specification setting early in development and product verification as designs mature.  During and after development of a CAE method, conduct validation of the method with respect to the physical system the method represents, to ensure the fidelity needed is achieved
  • Collaborate with test and part design engineers to understand the physical part and test procedures to accurately set the CAE model boundaries, constraints, and assumptions
  • Create documentation that clearly explains the CAE model inputs, assumptions, setup, process, validation, and outputs 
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0 years of experience with Masters or a PhD
  • 2 years of experience with BS

Job Purpose: 

Operates independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary design and engineering teams to execute a full range of digital modeling tasks aligned with program and organizational objectives. Translates product concepts, styling intent, and engineering requirements into high-quality digital surface models. Applies advanced visualization, sculpting, and surfacing skills to deliver production-ready digital assets that meet design and manufacturing specifications. Serves as PIC for assigned area of specialty and may lead project teams as a Project Leader (PL). Responsibilities are carried out with a high degree of autonomy, requiring sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making within defined parameters for accuracy, quality, efficiency, and compliance with program timelines and organizational standards.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilizes excellent knowledge/understanding of design/styling concepts and modeling skills/techniques to interpret design sketches, drawings and layouts to confirm engineering requirements/styling intent and creatively visualizes design concepts into three dimensional scale, full-size forms and digital models, incorporating accurate visual proportions, line character, weight, directional quality and total harmony of the design.
  • Utilizes excellent digital modeling skills to create package models of proposed vehicles/components in area of specialty, including applying engineering specifications to produce digital model design/styling data, building and issuing 3-D data model and verifying “prove out” model meets design engineering specification while capturing design styling intent.
  • As PIC interfaces with design, fabrication and project teams in all phases of development, clarifying design concept/styling intent, producing finished models/package model data per project schedule, reviewing design/styling issues and conducting problem-solving to determine and/or propose styling solutions, altering/modifying models and reissuing package model data to meet project goals/technical requirements and summarizing/presenting project status/updates as needed.
  • Identifies potential styling concerns that may impact product safety, quality and manufacturability, interfacing with designers to review styling issues and recommending styling changes to promote design feasibility while maintaining design concept/styling intent.
  • Participates in project meetings, activities, and discussions, providing information and general project support as needed.
  • Supports process improvement efforts in area of specialty, evaluating existing modeling processes and recommending changes/improvements to support current/future business operations.
  • Expands knowledge/understanding of design development process and project cycles as well as SED organization/functions and identifies opportunities to promote department services.

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Transportation/Graphic Design
  • 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in related field. 8+ years of related work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree or combination of same.

Job Purpose

Lead New Model Quality introduction through strategic planning, management, and communication to meet New Model quality targets from concept to mass production. Achieve project EA00’s with high focus on Quality items, including Business Plan target for each factory with Manufacturing Managment Centre's (MMC) to prepare and execute the trial phase of the new model development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work within Department to negotiate MQS Control Points / PQCT and insure they are linked to EQ Specs & Process Operation Standard, while ensuring Production Associate's ability to succeed.
  • Lead drawing review and collaborate with Product Design to prevent Manufacturing Issues.
  • Support MMC with Quality Manufacturing Plan for onsite Trial Builds, for example supporting himotsuki verification Activity Dan/QC.
  • Support MMC execute successful onsite build event activity for dept. in the areas of schedule, parts, associates aligned in the right place, group to group coordination, and plan vs actual reporting (Q-Gate / abnormal handwork).
  • Enhance the Standard NM SAP for assigned Model considering previous Model Reflections, New Technology, Future Innovations, and opportunities to improve Department Characteristics (PDCA).
  • Maintain regular communication with other facilities to coordinate North American or Global Weld activity and management of associated travel as needed to ensure initiatives and good project flow.
  • Develop capability of self, colleagues, and team through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise and understanding for succession planning and team growth.
