• We are seeking a Pre-Construction Manager who is equal parts Project Engineer, Estimator, and Client-Facing Project Manager. This role sits at the intersection of design, construction, and client engagement — helping bring extraordinary, sustainable homes from concept to groundbreaking

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client + Project Leadership

• Serve as the primary client liaison during preconstruction — managing expectations, building trust, and guiding them through decisions
• Lead project kickoff meetings, site visits, and OAC meetings; prepare agendas and follow-ups
• Communicate clearly with clients through weekly updates, budget tracking, and milestone planning

Preconstruction Planning + Estimating

• Collaborate with estimators and project managers to create accurate cost models, budgets, and value-engineering options
• Prepare and issue RFPs/RFQs to subcontractors; review and compare bids
• Work with the design and engineering teams to align drawings, specifications, and constructability
• Manage project documentation using Smartsheet and Bluebeam for scope tracking, budget, and schedule updates

Process + Coordination

• Set up and manage Smartsheet dashboards for project tracking and data management
• Prepare and issue PCS and Prime Construction Contracts
• Coordinate with bookkeeping for accurate billing and budget reporting
• Support continuous improvement of systems, tools, and preconstruction workflows

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years of experience in the same
• At least 5+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project engineering (custom home or high-end residential preferred)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Smartsheet, and Bluebeam
• Strong communication and client relationship skills

Preferred:

• Experience with sustainable building practices (Passive House, Net-Zero, LEED, or similar)
• Knowledge of Bay Area residential construction markets and subcontractor networks

What you will do

• Create and compile detailed anchorage and bracing calculation packages, including CAD-generated details, with clear and consistent presentation.
• Stamp design packages with a current PE license where required for permit submissions or code compliance.
• Attend manufacturer-led training sessions, industry seminars, and SVM’s internal Learning & Development courses to stay current on evolving codes, standards, and best practices in structural design.

Education, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering required.
• 8+ years’ of structural design experience with a minimum of 3+ years designing structural components for HVAC & Plumbing projects/systems required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or Nevada required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-engineers required.
• Proven ability to support multiple projects with shifting priorities and fast-paced schedules required.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, Bluebeam, RISA-3D, Microsoft Office Products, and anchor design software preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Project planning and execution, budgeting and cost control, team leadership and collaboration, and quality assurance and safety compliance on assigned projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• The Civil Earthwork Estimator will support the Chief Estimator in preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for heavy civil projects, including excavation, grading, and site development work. This entry-level role is ideal for someone early in their construction career who is eager to learn estimating fundamentals and grow within the organization

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Chief Estimator in reviewing project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
• Perform basic quantity takeoffs for excavation, grading, and related civil work under supervision
• Help collect and organize pricing information for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
• Support the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and related documentations
• Assist in obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and maintain pricing logs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• Equivalent field or internship experience also considered.

Experience:

• At least 2-3 years of experience in construction estimating, project engineering, field engineering, or a related role
• Internship or co-op experience in civil construction is a plus

Skills:

• Basic understanding of civil construction, excavation, or grading operations
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans (training provided)

Primary Function: We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring that all estimates are competitive and align with project requirements.

This is a full-time on-site position located in Napa, CA.

Typical Duties:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope and technical clarifications.
• Collaborate with estimators, DB engineers and company operations team to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project specifications.
• Develop and maintain a database of historical cost data for reference in future estimates, based on project production reports and field investigation.
• Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes in scope, materials, or labor costs.
• Provide support during the bidding process, including preparing bid packages and attending pre-bid meetings. Including some travel for site visits to gather project information and local resource availability.
• Coordinate scope of work activity coverage between the discipline estimators.
• Schedule development of key scope of work activities flow, through estimator input of impacts and durations.
• Budget development, following established processes in current software. Coordination with estimators, operations and accounting departments
• Train estimating department in the use of select programs.
• Assist in the negotiation of contracts with the operations team for the subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Two-to-four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or significant field experience and strong computer skills.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a senior role.
