The Chang Lab, led by PI Serina Chang, is part of the Berkeley EECS Department, the UCSF UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health, the Berkeley AI Research (BAIR) Lab, and the Center for Human-Compatible AI (CHAI).

We are seeking a postdoc to work on projects at the intersection of AI and human behavior, including modeling human behavior with AI, building AI tools to support societal decision-making, and studying the impacts of AI on society. Potential projects include:

1. 
   
2. Developing AI models of individuals that can accurately simulate complex behaviors across modalities, supported by rich, individual-level data including mobility trajectories, surveys, in-depth interviews, and health behaviors and outcomes.
   
3. Scaling simulations to entire societies with millions of agents, developing robust validation of societal simulations, and applying societal simulations to inform decisions in high-stakes domains (e.g., public health, emergency response).
   
4. Studying the impacts of generative AI on human health and well-being, from individual-level human-AI interactions (e.g., mental health risks, health decision-making) to community-level dynamics (e.g., changing support networks, engagement with health systems).
   

The selected candidate will assist with leading research projects, work closely with PI Serina Chang, mentor junior students in the lab, and help with the management of the lab.

Mandatory to have work experience in leading Level 2/Level 3 application support team based out of IND who provide 24x7 coverage.

Should know how to gather & communicate SRE requirement from customers and define SRE roadmap.

Working experience on how to gather requirements on health of applications, services to monitor, setting service levels.

Must have good knowledge on eCommerce platforms in microservice architecture, Sterling OMS , Retail Applications like XStore.

Should be able to lead P1 calls, brief about the P1 to customer, proactive in gathering leads/ customers into the P1 calls till RCA, PIR etc.

Should have knowledge on building process , framework by following ITSM principles, SOP, runbooks, handling any ITSM platforms (JIRA/ServiceNow/BMC Remedy)

Must know how to work with the Dev team, cross functional teams.

Should be able to generate WSR/MSR by extracting the tickets from ITSM platforms, present to customers and L7 leaders.

Manage overall SRE delivery, customer focus mindset , closely work with customer leaderships.

The Engineering Assistant will provide technical and administrative support within an engineering environment. This role supports a team of engineers and assists with work related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of infrastructure. Under general supervision, the Engineering Assistant will perform a variety of technical and office-based tasks, including but not limited to:

• Creating charts, graphs, drawings, and technical sketches
• Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing engineering data
• Performing and verifying mathematical calculations
• Preparing and reviewing computer inputs and outputs
• Writing, updating, and revising basic computer programs or automated tools
• Managing engineering drawings, files, and documentation
• Assisting with contract-related tasks and general administrative support associated with technical office operations

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant experience
• 2-3 years of experience in clerical or administrative support roles
• Proficiency with business and technical software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Adobe Acrobat, or similar tools
• Ability to interpret written technical standards and effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing
• Experience preparing complex forms, reports, records, and reference materials used for reporting and audits
• Strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive, collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

Manufacturing Test Software Engineer

Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 + equity & benefits

Location: Mission District, San Francisco, CA

We’re looking for a self-motivated Manufacturing Test Software Engineer to join our R&D/Pilot test team in San Francisco. You’ll work closely with R&D and Operations to improve test systems, processes, and production readiness for LiDAR products.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and deploy test systems and automation platforms
• Drive improvements in test efficiency, yield, and product quality
• Analyze root causes of failures and implement corrective actions using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone analysis
• Support scalability and manufacturability projects
• Prepare technical documentation and train test operators

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong Python programming and debugging skills
• Experience with test automation in manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with source control tools (Git, Jira, etc.) and quality standards (SPC, GR&R, control charts)
• Experience with LiDAR, robotics, vision systems (Cognex/OpenCV), or test measurement equipment is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years supporting product tests in manufacturing

Position Requirements:

• Be able to construct, test and calibrate engineering and production robotic and computer-controlled assembly systems using engineering prints, schematics, assembly instructions and engineering direction
• Knowledgeable in high precision measuring equipment, calibration, and detailed record generation

Experienced and Proficient in the following:

• Mechanical hand and power tools
• Oscilloscopes, DMM, Signal Generators, Optics, Cameras
• Laser safety, lasers, laser pattern recognition, beam focus, and active alignment
• Auto dispense and cure of UV adhesive
• Multiple axis, vision assisted, computer controlled robotic assembly equipment in both a R/D and Volume Manufacturing environment
• Identification of “Root” Cause of Manufacturing, Quality and Yield issues
• Microsoft Office, Standard SPC and Flowcharts packages
• Pneumatic actuated Slides, Grippers, etc.
• Hex Pod Tables, Active Alignment
• Excellent reading, writing, and communication skills in English
• Minimum of 5 years industry experience, Lidar Sensor experience preferred but not required
• Be able to stand for long periods of time
• Lift and carry 35 lbs
