Technical Designer, Furniture

Serena & Lily is seeking a Technical Furniture Designer to join our Design Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the technical development process of all furniture categories. This role involves ensuring that quality, accuracy and on time execution in a cost-effective manner of all furniture projects from concept to production, are met while maintaining brand integrity. This position reports directly to CDO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Translate design direction from CDO into detailed technical specs with accurate renderings to illustrate concept ideals.
• Develop and implement product development strategies aligned with company goals and market trends.
• Identify opportunities for innovation in furniture production, materials, and production processes.

Project Management

• Translate design direction from CDO into detailed technical specs with accurate renderings to illustrate concept ideals.
• Oversee the product development lifecycle, from initial renderings to cads, to sample and swatch reviews.
• Clearly communicate to agents and vendors calls outs and comments in a timely manner.
• Develop new finishes and color panels and ensure consistency through production.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Own the sharing of information in weekly PD meetings.
• Keep all documents and shared tools current and up to date.
• Maintain and organize swatch libraries.
• Cad all cushions where applicable and all outdoor covers for outdoor collections.
• Confirm PI sheets are accurate.
• Review and comment on furniture renewal swatches in a timely manner.

• Establish and maintain quality assurance protocols throughout the product development process.
• Ensure all products meet regulatory and safety standards for target markets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Product Development, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in furniture product development.
• Strong knowledge of furniture design, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Proven track record of managing multiple complex product development projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A high level of proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.
• Experience with sustainability practices in furniture design is a plus.

COMPENSATION:

• $100-130k per year is the anticipated starting base pay for this role. This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this role. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: experience, education, and skills.

The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoc in the Bouchard Lab, in the area of theoretical neuroscience. The Bouchard lab at UC Berkeley is an interdisciplinary team that focuses on understanding how distributed neural circuits give rise to coordinated behaviors and perceptions. There will be collaboration with the lab members at LBNL. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work at the interface of control theory, information theory, dynamical systems, statistical machine learning, and neural time-series data. The goal is to better understand principles and mechanisms underlying distributed brain network computations through the dual lenses of control theory and information theory. This position will focus on developing and applying theory, models, and methods that provide principled understanding of simultaneous multi-region, high-dimensional neural population dynamics from diverse brain areas.

The position is located at UC Berkeley (UCB), in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and is part of a broader collaborative effort between UCSF, LBNL, UCB, and UC Davis. This Bay Area collaboration combines UCSF/UCD's strong clinical and experimental neuroscience experience with in vivo cortical electrophysiology, UCB's expertise in theoretical neuroscience, statistical learning and data analysis, LBNL's supercomputing and applied mathematics together with electronics and micro-fabrication. The Internal Identity & Access Management (I2AM) team is responsible for critical production infrastructure that provides a foundational notion of Identity and strong authentication and authorization controls across Pinterest. The Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

We are also seeking applicants for hourly Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. The TSP instructor's principal responsibility will be overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program of the Nuclear Engineering Department. This will include the following tasks: Designing and proposing capstone projects. Helping match students into suitable projects. Meeting with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period.

Department:

Master's degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application.

For Lecturers: Five years of experience in industry or a

research institute, or a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree by the start of the appointment.

The Content Understanding team builds machine learning models that "read" Pinterest content-images, text, and video-to produce high-quality semantic signals (e.g., embeddings, localization, quality/safety labels). These signals power relevance and retrieval for Homefeed, Search, Related Pins, and Ads, and also support integrity use cases like spam and low-quality detection. We work end-to-end: from data and labeling strategy, to model training and evaluation, to low-latency serving and monitoring at Pinterest scale. The role is ideal for a senior modeler who also enjoys developing, productionizing models and leading technical direction across teams.
