Job Description
The CNC Process Engineer will lead the standardization and optimization of CNC machining operations across multiple identical vertical machining cells. This role involves converting subject-matter expertise into clear, repeatable shop-floor documentation, defining escalation tiers, and serving as the advanced technical escalation point for unique failures. The position also drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, tool life, chip evacuation, and tooling strategy, often collaborating directly with tooling vendors to design custom solutions.
Responsibilities
Capture tribal knowledge from CNC subject matter experts and translate it into standardized documentation.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operator-Driven Reliability (ODR) tasks.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This engineer will be responsible for completing the Mechanical Engineering portion of projects in support of the Plant Capital execution, as well as Plant Technical support, enabling the plant to meet its Safey, Market, Productivity, and Quality goals. They will assist project teams with pre-studies of deployment and development projects in the M.E. field. They will also complete design studies, follow procurement and fabrication of equipment and lead the installation, commissioning and startup of the equipment in an industrial plant environment. For customer projects, manages the design studies for industrial equipment installations that are necessary for the success of the Plant's capital projects. She / he will ensure adherence to the customer's specifications, local regulations, compliance of performance, and costs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Conduct feasibility studies of functional specifications; evaluate solutions against the criteria of cost, landmarks, risks, and functionality.

The CNC Process Engineer serves as the advanced technical escalation point for complex machining issues, drives tooling and process optimization initiatives, and collaborates closely with tooling vendors to implement innovative machining solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Process Standardization & Documentation
- Capture and formalize tribal knowledge from CNC subject matter experts into structured documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Create Operator-Driven Reliability (ODR) tasks to support proactive maintenance.
- Standardize documentation across identical machining cells while identifying process exceptions.
- Develop troubleshooting guides, flowcharts, and decision trees for rapid issue resolution.
Technical Leadership & Escalation
- Establish clear escalation tiers for operators, skilled trades, and CNC engineers.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for advanced CNC troubleshooting.
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring or complex machining failures.
- Improve process reliability, repeatability, and machine uptime.
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
- Lead cycle time reduction and process stability initiatives.
- Optimize tooling strategies including tool selection, feeds and speeds, and tool life management.
- Address chip evacuation challenges in high-volume machining environments.
- Collaborate with tooling vendors to design and implement custom tooling solutions.
- Improve machining efficiency across palletized and automated systems.
Training & Development
- Develop training materials and process documentation.
- Deliver hands-on training to operators, skilled trades, and engineering personnel.
- Support knowledge transfer and capability development within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining or CNC process engineering experience.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing floor environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Haas NGC control systems.
- Knowledge of Haas Advanced Tool Management (ATM).
- Proficiency in global macro variables, mathematical operators, and logical functions in CNC programming.
- Advanced CAM programming experience.
- Strong G-code programming capabilities.
- Experience with Midaco or similar pallet change systems and programming.
- Extensive knowledge of tooling selection, application, and high-volume machining strategies.
- Experience with automated fixturing, pallet systems, and robotic automation integrated with CNC machining.

- For this role, the focus is on maintenance reliability
- This person will focus on current assets, maintenance data, perform data analysis
- Lumin – is a software used in this location to run the process
- Person needs to be familiar with Lumin systems – get data and perform tasks
- Black belt experience – they will be working on all the assets in the machining space
- Root cause analysis experience in maintenance space.
- Basic function or power BI
- Software : Lumin is of key importance for data analysis in maintenance space (candidate can learn it as well)
- 7 AM – 4 PM shift
- Will look at profiles without CNC experience
- Bachelors and associates are fine with 8 + years of experience
- Black belt is preferred
