JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Estimator to join a large EPC client's Environmental Services team in Chesapeake, VA. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for leading Construction Design-Build and EPC estimates and proposals for various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. This position will assist clients in making fact-based decisions by presenting accurate estimates in a credible and professional manner while minimizing risk to the company.


DAY TO DAY:

  • Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.
  • Review and approve project summary schedules for validity.
  • Manage workload scheduling to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Responsible for compliance with estimating methodology insuring quality estimates are produced.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving quotes on bonds and insurance.
  • Lead subcontractor solicitation and pre-qualification reviews.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving specialty and standard equipment pricing.
  • Review and verify subcontractor bid packages before being transmitted for quotes.
  • Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
  • Lead estimating teams for completion of pre-construction services.
  • Responsible for cost history, data base management and estimating process.
  • Approve price general conditions, indirect costs and review as provided by project management team.
  • Make final recommendations as to fee, contingency and escalation.
  • Develop strategy on contract partnering agreements.
  • Verify and approve estimates for joint venture reviews.
  • Review and validate value engineering items, alternates and options.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 7 years of direct project estimating experience required (targeting 15+ years of experience)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Surface Warfare Officers (SWOs) are involved in virtually every aspect of Navy missions. As a SWO, you may be in charge of any number of shipboard operations and activities while at sea, working with or within any of these specialized forces:

Aircraft Carrier Forces: Provide and coordinate air, submarine and surface ship defense for aircraft carriers.

Cruiser-Destroyer Forces: Provide ship attack and defensive measures with a wide array of missile and fire power capabilities, providing anti-air, -submarine and -surface warfare support.

Amphibious Forces: Embark and transport vehicles, equipment and personnel for amphibious assault operations.

Combat-Logistics Forces: Provide combatant ships with fuel, ammunition, food and supplies, and provide repair, maintenance and rescue capabilities through Fleet Support Ships.

Mine Warfare Forces: Detect, identify and neutralize threats from hostile use of maritime mines.

Work Environment

Newly commissioned Surface Warfare Officers will be assigned to a surface ship, leading a team of Sailors responsible for a component of the ship - anything from electronics to weapons to engineering systems. In this setting, Officers are working toward full Surface Warfare qualification.

After completing these initial sea tours, Surface Warfare Officers may be selected to serve on high-level staffs, commands or strategic projects or they may be selected to work in recruitment. The ultimate goal for many: to one day command their own ship.

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the WFM platform (e.g., Legion, Kronos, UKG, Reflexis) to support accurate scheduling, forecasting, and timekeeping.
  • Partner with IT and HR teams to monitor integrations with payroll and POS systems.
  • Support system testing, upgrades, and rollout of new features or configuration changes.
  • Provide day-to-day user support and assist in developing training resources for field and store leaders.

Labor Standards & Modeling Support

  • Help collect and organize data used to validate labor standards and staffing models.
  • Conduct time studies or data reviews to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Support the creation of workload models that align labor needs with sales forecasts and service expectations.
  • Maintain documentation of process standards and assumptions for transparency and consistency.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate recurring reports and dashboards on scheduling accuracy, productivity, and labor performance.
  • Identify data inconsistencies or trends and escalate findings to the WFM Manager.
  • Partner with analytics and finance teams to ensure alignment between forecasted and actual labor results.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with Store Operations, Finance, HR, and IT to support labor planning initiatives.
  • Assist with testing, documentation, and rollout of new WFM features or labor model updates.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in workforce management, labor analytics, or retail operations support.
  • Familiarity with WFM platforms (Legion, Kronos/UKG, Reflexis, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Your Challenges

  • Requires limited supervision/oversight, has experience in the trade and can perform all work required as an Inside Machinist

  • Must have the ability to manufacture complex components from stock or modify parts in accordance with all drawing requirements

  • Must be able to perform the set up and operation of all types of machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.) and hand tools used in the trade as well as the ability to use all precision measuring instruments such as outside diameter and inside diameter micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, lay-out tools and possess the ability to accurately record readings and measurements

  • Advanced proficiency in reading complex blueprints, drawings, manuals, technical work documents, measuring and marking dimensions and reference points on material, selecting proper tooling, attachments, and accessories as well as manufacturing fixtures to hold work pieces and assemblies

  • Advanced working knowledge of all feed/speed rates and machining characteristics of various materials

  • Ability to machine complex parts to close tolerances ensuring that the finish requirements of the drawing specifications are achieved with first time quality

  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems

  • Work includes small and large assembly, and machining of heavy steel

  • Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and machine shop procedures

  • Perform machine maintenance and is responsible for keeping work are clean and the immediate reporting of safety issues to Supervisor

  • Work independently to complete responsibilities

  • NDT experience is a plus


What You Bring

  • Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

  • 5 years machine shop experience and/or have completed a recognized apprenticeship as a General Machinist.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Ability to machine as per drawing tolerance of .0005\" where required

  • Must be able to demonstrate General Machinist skills in the following areas:

  • Lathe

  • Milling

  • Drilling

  • Machine shop power and pneumatic tools

  • Must be able to design and manufacture fixtures and template

  • Must be able to make own layouts as per drawing

  • Must be able to understand GD&T tolerances

  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, plate clamps and slings a plus

  • Expected to have or purchase basic hand tools.

  • The ability to work overtime when necessary and travel up to 25% is also a must.
