Client is looking for an Automotive Training & Development Consultant located in the Detroit, Michigan area.

This position is responsible for analysis, research, development and delivery of manufacturing processes and technical launch training with on-site support to OEM vehicle assembly plants in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Provide on-site training and support at each of the OEM vehicle assembly plants
  • Instruct and consult plant process and repair personnel to improve their understanding of the vehicle and its highly intricate and interconnected systems and subsystems
  • Present and demonstrate efficient and effective methods of diagnosing and correcting vehicle assembly, vehicle electrical systems and sub-system deficiencies
  • Conduct root cause analysis to accurately identify the cause(s) of assembly and vehicle deficiencies
  • Act as the training liaison between product/manufacturing engineering and general assembly by creating, designing and developing training materials related to vehicle assembly process, electrical harness manufacture, vehicle electrical system architectures and schematics
  • Communicate and share lessons learned, developed training materials and information gathered in support of one plant project with remaining plants on a timely basis
  • Analyze and identify future training needs for each of the OEM vehicle assembly plants
  • Support and participate in plant launch meetings and provide training reports to Raytheon management, the OEM management and OEM launch teams
  • Interface with engineering, component suppliers and vendors to validate and develop training materials for the manufacturing process, vehicle and vehicle electrical sub-systems prior to the Start of Regular Production (SORP)
  • Research and compile manufacturing processes and technical information to be included in training course materials, such as, but not limited to engineering schematics, work in process service information, engineering documents, engineering math data and manufacturing reports

Required Skills:

  • Minimum four years of experience as an automotive instructional designer, training developer, automotive instructor and/or manufacturing instructor
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective

Job Summary

Field based position to train and motivate new and tenured Territory Managers to meet and exceed their segment plans by spending 2-3 full days in the TM's territory, coaching and counseling to areas which need development post TM's participation of initial training period and attendance of corporate training.

  • Assist with safety evaluations and risk assessments (JHA, PHAs, HAZOPs, FMEAs, PSSRs, etc.) of new products, processes, facilities, and equipment and recommend CAPAs to improve safety performance.
  • Provide technical support for EHS programs (LOTOTO, Hazcom, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Hygiene, etc.)
  • Assist with the development of annual EHS KRAs, goals, plans, objectives, and budget as directed by the AD.
  • Complete requisite environmental reporting (Tier 2, biennial hazardous waste, air emissions, TRI, and stormwater) as directed by AD.
  • Reporting injury/illness data electronically to OSHA & generating and posting requisite site reports
  • Assigning and managing EHS education and training using MasterControl software system.
  • Conducing new hire orientation (NHO) safety training and education as needed.
  • Maintain and control site SDSs for RMs, SMs, IPs, and FPs per Hazcom Standards.
  • Conduct qualitative/quantitative exposure assessments for hazardous materials and HPAPIs.
  • Assessing site compliance with corporate policies/guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations through periodic workplace audits and walkthroughs (Gemba walks).
  • Responsible for guiding Site Safety Committee (SSC) activities and initiatives.
  • Work closely with Facilities, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Laboratory teams to ensure contractors and subcontractors work in compliance with all site EHS requirements (Safe Work Permits, PRCS entries, LOTOTO, hot work, etc.)


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or similar degree required.
  • Master’s degree in EHS or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred
  • EHS Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, QEP, CHMM)
  • Sustainability & ESG experience are a plus.

  • HPAPI containment and isolation equipment and practices.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking skilled Make-Ready Designers (primary focus) and Power Distribution Designers to support engineering programs for major electric and telecom utilities. Ideal candidates bring demonstrated experience in overhead utility pole design, NESC application, clearance assessment, pole loading analysis, and construction package development. Useful design platforms include DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or client-specific drafting systems.


In this role, you will review field/walkout data, evaluate existing attachment conditions, model pole loading, determine make-ready requirements, and prepare accurate construction-ready deliverables. Applicants without utility pole design or distribution engineering experience will not be considered.


Note: This position is remote, but new hires must attend a 2-week paid, in-person orientation at our Perrysburg, OH headquarters.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Execute overhead distribution and make-ready design work orders while meeting quality, time, and budget expectations
• Apply established engineering design standards, NESC requirements, and internal processes
• Perform end-to-end make-ready, joint-use, and/or general distribution design
• Conduct permitting and easement research (pole ownership, ROW, property rights, approvals)
• Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and ensure accurate deliverables
• Use design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or client systems
• Perform quality control reviews when required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field is preferred

• Proven experience in utility pole design, including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and preparation of construction-ready design packages

• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices, with the ability to learn utility-specific proprietary systems efficiently
• Must hold a valid driver’s license, maintain active auto insurance, and pass all required background, drug, and MVR screenings
Authorization to work in the United States is required
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including minimal overnight travel when project needs require
• Ability to work a standard Monday–Friday schedule aligned to Eastern Time, with Central/Mountain/Pacific adjustments as appropriate
