Job Summary
The Director, Facilities Design is responsible for overseeing design projects for Sysco's global operations. Sysco Corporation's facilities design function is responsible for the conceptual design of new and renovated facilities including floorplans, site plans, and elevations. The design function works closely with Supply Chain Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Operations to develop facility designs that best meet the needs of the individual business units. The Sysco design team then collaborates with and directs outsourced architectural and engineering design teams to develop signed and sealed construction documents to be used for permitting and field operations. The Sysco design team is responsible for archiving and maintaining current all facility A/E and material handling system documents for all operations.
Sysco's portfolio of real estate holdings includes over 250 major owned and leased properties (primarily distribution centers, processing plants, and office facilities) as well as over 500 minor owned and leased properties (primarily shuttle yards and remote domicile yards). Sysco's owned properties comprise over 42 million square feet of improved space.
Sysco Corporation's capital plan includes approximately 20 major active projects per year and multiple reconfigurations and reworks projects. The Director, Facilities Design will foster a collaborative environment where all necessary stakeholders are involved in facility design projects to meet the current and projected needs of Sysco's business units.
Responsibilities
- Lead the activities of 8 Sysco direct employees who work closely with the business units, supply chain engineering and the construction group in planning, preliminary design, layout iterations RFP (request for proposal) documentation and final design coordination for multiple projects nationwide.
- Coordinate with and manage multiple outside design professionals and consultants on an as-needed basis.
- Lead design teams responsible for distribution facilities.
- Develop and maintain design and construction standards for Sysco distribution projects.
- Ensure that DC (distribution center) designs are current with best operational practices and incorporate state of the art materials and equipment.
- Ensure corporate goals related to sustainability are achieved in terms of facility designs.
- Lead design teams responsible for manufacturing and processing facilities design including meat and seafood processing, fruit and vegetable processing, blending and filling operations, and packaging lines.
- Develop and maintain unique design and construction standards for Sysco manufacturing projects.
- Ensure that manufacturing designs are current with best operational practices and incorporate state of the art materials and equipment.
- Ensure corporate goals related to sustainability are achieved in terms of facility designs.
- Lead design teams responsible for office facilities including corporate offices, shared business services offices, call centers, and remote offices supporting all Sysco businesses and operations.
- Lead the Interior Design and Space Planning team in support of interior designs for all Sysco projects (DC, manufacturing, office) in regards to associate workspace design, furniture selection, interior finishes, interior lighting, audiovisual systems, and artwork.
- Collaborate with the real estate, construction, and business teams to develop conceptual layouts and scenarios.
- Develop the best organizational structure to execute construction and processing design projects.
- Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain top-talent individuals to staff the design organization whether they are outsourced or in-house direct-hire team members.
- Create onboarding, training, and ongoing associate development plans and ensure that they are successfully implemented.
- Create and develop plans related to the necessary tools needed by design and construction teams to be successful. This includes but is not limited to CAD software and hardware, Project Management software and hardware, cloud-based real estate portfolio software, and tools for project estimating.
- Create and successfully implement plans for communicating information to all design and construction professionals including the strategic vision, tactical information related to current plans and projects, and means for associates to communicate with each other as well as upstream.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelors's degree in Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
- Masters degree in technical area or business preferred
- Process engineering experience required with a focus on meat is required
Experience
- Experience with food processing or food distribution facilities projects required
- Experience successfully leading teams of professionals in a corporate setting required
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Professional certification or licensure as an architect, engineer, or construction project manager is preferred
- Robust PC skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project and AutoCAD) required
- Familiarity with industrial structures and building systems preferred including insulated metal panel construction, ammonia refrigeration systems, automatic fire protection systems, HVAC and mechanical systems, electrical and lighting systems, plumbing, and wastewater treatment systems is preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA, PSM (platform-specific model), and RMP (Risk Management Plan) regulatory guidelines and programs preferred
- Knowledge of construction contracts including lien and bonding processes required

A successful member of this team will be responsible for managing paper and digital engineering documentation related to inspections and repairs for the Bombers B-1B Full Scale Fatigue Test program.
Position Responsibilities:
- Compiles, analyzes, develops and formats data by utilizing engineering standards, processes and computational tools to provide documentation that assists in the development of engineering life cycle products, services and processes.
- Analyzes documentation/products to verify regulatory conformance and contractual compliance.
- Maintains and improves products (e.g., engineering data, spreadsheets, and documentation), processes and services to ensure consistent quality of data used to accomplish engineering tasks.
- Creates and maintains design documentation by using company/industry standards to communicate the end product to customers.

· Lead the workcell team (assigned to customer) as a Lead Project Engineer.

· Perform duties, which involve conventional engineering practices that may include a variety of complex duties from ICT, FVT, ESS to System level test.
· Assign Test Engineers to customer Workcells.
· Monitor the performance of each Workcell, with regards to test, giving guidance to ensure continuous improvements.
· Manage the engineering test function for standard and/or custom devices.
· Identify and evaluate test procedures and test equipment required to perform quality checks.
· Manager equipment and product test performance and make recommendations for changes in the testing process.
· Develop special test equipment and software text programs as required for the successful completion of project.
· Develop customer setup training program for new product testing procedures.
· Lead and implement training and assist test engineers.
· Explore new avenues and test technologies for quality improvements on product assigned.
· Perform detailed analysis on test quality of product assigned, identify trends and spearhead corrective actions.
· Monitor, through assigned test engineer, all NPI activities.
· Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Process Engineer must be able to perform studies for assembly processes, process documents creation includes graphics & illustrations of the parts to be assembled and its development contains the identification of assembly risks through the use and implementation of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) on current and new products. The previous activities includes the sequence analysis to install parts, the implementation of product and parts engineering specifications, process tools specifications, digital process simulation studies and interferences analysis related to current and new products parts and assemblies, as well as any other study related to required process, it will be performed under the acknowledgment and use of the following software applications: Teamcenter 11, Siemens NX (NX Unigraphics software), Mockup and Vis-Professional Version 14.1 visualizers, MS Visio 2016, Autodesk DWG TrueView 2019, MS PowerPoint and MS Office 2016, Snipping Tool Version 10, AMPS - Advanced Manufacturing Planning Systems (Client Internal System). These computer software applications will be used to define process and identify in advance any potential process risk with the use of PFMEA technique to ensure the correct integration of processes on time, in a safety matter and in accordance with product specifications.
- As part of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) development, Vehicle Process Engineer will generate the initial list of PFMEAs to be carried out according to the new processes requirements. The definition of PFMEAs will be performed in mutual agreement with VPE Cars, WPI (Work Process Integration) and plant team members. Once the matrix of PFMEAs to be generated has been defined, Process Engineer will be responsible to schedule meetings in mutual agreement with VPE and plant, develop and lead the PFMEAs. For the creation of PFMEA it will be required to populate the process steps on the PFMEA form provided by VPE Cars /WPI, which includes process steps, identifying potential process risks, establishment of severity, occurrence and detection values, establishment of recommended actions, assignment of responsible for each created recommended action, creation of summary reports after each PFMEA review and document posting into WPI web. It also includes the follow-up of open recommended actions with responsible(s) up to which all the actions will be closed as well.
- Vehicle Process Engineer will be responsible to perform the new and update process documents for the current and new vehicle product programs produced by Toluca Plant, it includes all product parts end items, parts change last level released by product engineering that may affect the process(es) and the inclusion of the changes into the processes should be done considering the product implementation date specified in the engineering change Vehicle Process Engineer will be able to understand the product specifications included in the Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) system, Product Change Notes (CNs) and Engineering Bulletins.

- Vehicle Process Engineer will provide these services considering performing in the different process areas BIW and GA process areas, work under pressure, availability to travel, assistance on weekends and sometime holidays.
- Vehicle Process Engineer is responsible to keep the information managed updated, control the changes, and manage the process documents assigned as well as have them available into the corresponding systems indicated in accordance with the vehicle(s) program(s) needs established by IME/ME. The confidentiality of the documents generated must be maintained across all the vehicle programs and assigned projects.
- Assist the VPE Cars engineers in the generation of process documents, graphics and PFMEAs, as well as during the revision and updating of these documents.
- Support to VPE Cars engineers in the presentation required to identify the process and product changes related or any activity related to new models as well as to current vehicles (carry over).
- Assist to obtain the product specification, parts and plant information required by VPE Cars Process in order to develop the process documents, Graphics, PFMEA's and tasks needed due to product changes, plant request to improve or update the process documents during the implementation of new and carry over vehicles. The supplier personnel should follow the confidentiality policy.
- Engineering services must be following the official Mexican norms and regulations applicable to the processes safety, environmental that are considered into Product Specifications (Process Standards, Material Standards and Quality MQAS Mexico Client during the work assigned to supplier in the process areas and the plant location.
- Support parts and vehicle(s) model data finding in Teamcenter requested by IME in order to develop and update the new and current process documents, graphics and PFMEA's.
