Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered perioperative care in alignment with the DUHS Professional Practice Model. The RN is responsible for delivering and coordinating direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients
- Providing advanced and specialized perioperative nursing care
- Participating in clinical ladder advancement, education, committees, and quality initiatives

Schedule

Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), Nursing Diploma, or higher is required
- Nurses without a BSN must enroll in an approved BSN program within 2 years of hire and complete it within 7 years
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- 1+ year of Operating Room experience preferred
- Scrub and/or circulating experience required
Licensure & Certification
- Current RN licensure in North Carolina or a compact RN license required
- BLS certification (or higher) required
- Professional specialty certification preferred

Job Summary:
Performs professional nursing care for patients in a primary care setting (the home or alternate-site setting) according to nursing practices, agency policies and regulations. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with the NC nurse practice act, physician orders and established policies and procedures. - Maintain up to date knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/JCAHO standards thru inservices and workshop attendance.
- Assesses the severity of patient symptoms, communicate to the physician and record significant findings, intervenes as appropriate.
- Document care and services provided in accordance with DHCH Policy and Procedures and regulatory standards.
- Complete documentation accurately, timely, concisely.
- Medication reconciliation and education to prevent adverse events and readmission to hospital
- Observe patient's reactions to medications and reports significant incidents to the physicians.
- Communicate regularly with team members, caregivers, and physicians.
- Follow infection control standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.
- Delegate and supervise care given by NCA's/LPN's.
- Develop plan of care for aides, assign care to aides based on the skills of the aide, the availability of the aide for patient care continuity, patient preference (when possible), and other considerations as determined by the patient's care needs.
- Identify personal learning needs and implements corrective action: assists in planning and conducting staff development programs to improve DHCC effectiveness.
- Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.

Unit Overview
The Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown Unit 5-2 is a 37 bed unit caring for intermediate and stepdown patients experiencing acute cardiac events requiring telemetry monitoring. We are a very welcoming unit that strives at being the best in providing excellent patient care and customer service. We believe in recognizing our staff for their dedication to nursing excellence and highly value teamwork, advancing education, and positive work culture. Our team takes pride in being adaptable in managing the care of a diverse patient population, with conditions that include congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, dysrhythmias, procedural patient from the cardiac catheterization lab, and patients requiring cardiac drips.

General Description of this Role
Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.

Experience

The Palliative Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides direct patient care services and performs medical acts under the supervision of the supervisory physician to patients >18 years of age requiring palliative care and symptom management. - Collaborate with APP team members to ensure clinic coverage as well as timely response to patient MyChart and phone messages.
- Participate in teaching students, fellows and residents.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.

Certification
- BLS required.
- Nurse Practitioner: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) designation or additional oncology CME each year
License

Job Summary
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our Central Carolina Surgery Hospital Team located in Greensboro, NC to work in collaboration with physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services. This position will work with our emergency general surgery services and our trauma service. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. Rotational weekend coverage responsibilities is required.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician.
- Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and surgical procedures to the patient.
- Removal, wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- Participate in daily rounds.
- Have a knowledge of pre-op and post-op procedures.
- Ability to work well with colleagues and groups important.
- Assist in surgery as required.
