About the Position
The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Hearing Board Member. This is an open recruitment for five (5) Hearing Board Member, volunteer position.

The Hearing Board is established by state law and consists of five members and their alternates - an attorney, a professional engineer, a member from the medical profession and two members of the public.

The Air District is currently recruiting for the following five (5) Hearing Board seats:

  • Alternate member in the Medical category
  • Principal member in the Professional Engineer category (Must have PE certification upon applying)
  • Alternate member in the Professional Engineer category (Must have PE certification upon applying)
  • Principle member in the Public category
  • Alternate member in the Public category

These are volunteer positions. There is no salary. Members of the Hearing Board receive a stipend of $400 per meeting day, plus travel expenses, if applicable. Hearing Board members serve a term of three years and may be reappointed to a maximum of fifteen consecutive years. The Hearing Board can meet as often as 1-3 times a week depending on the volume of cases filed, usually on Tuesdays, at the Air District's office at 375 Beale Street, San Francisco, CA 94105. Members of the Hearing Board are expected to be in person for scheduled meetings.

The Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that rules on particular cases that affect only individual facilities. Evaluates all students periodically and documents their progress (using individual educational plans, IEP's) and maintains systematic records and produces reports on the program's academic support and instructional activities (both summer and academic year components). Position description

The Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified instructors and invites applications to teach courses in the area of Development Engineering. In addition to core DevEng classes (DevEng 200, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206), new classes may be planned based upon student interest and candidate expertise. General Duties: Lecturers are responsible for the course syllabus, curriculum development and delivery, student mentoring, student assessment through relevant projects, problem sets, exams, class attendance and participation, and grades. Project-based courses will require working with potential sponsors.

Preferred qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent international degree or graduate professional degree is preferred in a discipline associated with development engineering (e.g ., development technologies, development economics and business models, impact analysis, design for development, city planning, political economy). Teaching experience in two or more of the topic areas listed below is preferred. Also desirable are a strong track record in developing and implementing new and innovative methods of delivering education and hands-on learning, project-based learning, and experience working with students from a range of disciplines. Job Summary

The College of Computing (CoC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications and nominations for two inaugural Krishna A. Bharat Professorships in Computational Journalism, at its campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bharat Professorships will further research and innovation that focuses on information access in the public sphere, exploring responsible, civic-minded approaches to computational journalism and civic technologies broadly. The chair is endowed by Krishna Bharat, a Georgia Tech doctoral alumnus in computer science and the founder of Google News.

The scope of this search is not limited to journalism as conventionally defined. It may include candidates whose backgrounds span a variety of fields that inform civic life - including communication, public policy, political science, statistics, and law - who have the ability to teach and mentor a student body and to promote an inclusive and welcoming educational and work environment.
