A rapidly growing industrial equipment manufacturer with operations in North Georgia is expanding its internal machining capabilities and hiring a skilled Precision Machining Specialist to join their high-performing, hands-on engineering and production team. This role supports custom machinery builds and prototype development for customers in aerospace, energy, automotive, and advanced manufacturing markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and configure CNC and conventional machining tools to produce high-precision parts for specialized machinery assemblies.
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC toolpaths using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam).
- Interpret engineering drawings, applying GD&T standards to ensure tight-tolerance specifications are met.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to fabricate components for new designs, R&D projects, and machine prototypes.
- Select appropriate tooling, complete machine changeovers, and fine-tune machining parameters to support efficient production and maintain quality standards.
- Help organize and optimize internal machining workflows as the shop scales.
- Conduct inspections to ensure machined parts meet all dimensional and quality standards.
- Conduct routine care and upkeep of machinery and tooling to promote a safe and productive workshop environment.
- Contribute to production schedules by aligning machining work with engineering and build timelines.
- Recognize opportunities to enhance machining methods, tooling strategies, and overall production efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with both CNC machining and manual machining equipment.
- Proven experience programming CNC equipment using CAM platforms such as Mastercam.
- Proficiency with GD&T and interpreting technical engineering drawings.
- Background in machining high-precision components for industrial or custom equipment applications.
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and self-directed problem-solving ability.
Preferred:
- Experience working in custom machine building, prototype development, or engineer-to-order environments.

Set machine coordinates or index points per CNC documents, including cutter offsets, tool heights, and probes, using appropriate measuring tools.

Job Summary
The Project Manager/Estimator will be responsible for overseeing the entire estimating and machining process from start to finish on individual projects, ensuring that parts are produced to the required specifications, within budget, and on time, by coordinating with management, machinists, and other departments to manage project timelines, quality control, and resource allocation across multiple projects simultaneously; essentially acting as the central point of contact for each project within the machine shop.
Key responsibilities of a CNC project manager:
* Project planning and scheduling: Analyzing customer drawings and specifications, creating detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, and coordinating with the shop floor to ensure smooth production flow.
* CNC programming and setup: Working with GibbsCAM to develop and optimize CNC programs for complex parts, ensuring proper tool selection and machine settings for optimal efficiency.
* Quality control: Implementing and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure all produced parts meet required tolerances and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Source, purchase, and negotiate pricing for machined and fabricated components
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier quotes and estimates
- Perform cost and labor analysis for machined/fabricated parts
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure supplier alignment
- Develop supplier relationships and monitor performance on quality, cost, delivery, and capability
- Support make/buy decisions, process improvements, and new product/component launches
- Maintain accurate purchasing data and documentation within ERP systems
- Drive strategic initiatives including cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier consolidation

Required Qualifications
