This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area. The Head Roaster will oversee daily roasting operations, ensuring a consistent and excellent product. Responsibilities include managing coffee quality control, developing roast profiles, training team members on roasting protocols, and maintaining roasting equipment. The Head Roaster will collaborate with the team to explore new roast techniques and uphold the company’s high standards in specialty coffee.
- Proven expertise in Coffee Roasting and Specialty Coffee practices, with a focus on producing consistent, high-quality outcomes
- Experience in Quality Control processes to ensure exceptional flavor profiles and adherence to standards
- Strong Communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and provide clear product feedback
- Experience in Training and mentoring team members to foster growth and expertise in coffee roasting
- Familiarity with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus
- Passion for sustainability and community engagement in the specialty coffee industry
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience preferred
Big 5 Sporting Goods is seeking an energetic, sports-minded individual to join our customer service team. Available openings are generally filled by enthusiastic, detail-oriented people with solid customer service backgrounds and/or educational paths well-suited to the industry. Cashiers are responsible for overseeing the front counter POS (register) terminal. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cash-handling and bagging of purchased merchandise, greeting customers, answering telephones, direction of sales associates using the PA system, stocking shelves, and the cleaning and maintenance of displayed merchandise on the sales floor. You will also be responsible for ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all customers.
