SHIFT: Sunday - Thursday, 11pm to 7am
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of a Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager is to utilize coaching and leadership skills to manage dedicated drivers and achieve specific goals. These goals include meeting pick-up and delivery requirements, maximizing revenue, driver productivity and other established company goals, retaining drivers, and achieving an excellent safety record.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accept orders, optimize routes, and plan delivery schedules maximizing productivity and efficiency
- Dispatch loads to the drivers (issue load information, delivery requirements, and routing)
- Arrange for additional labor for any deliveries that require it.
- Track drivers through their daily delivery schedule to ensure on-time delivery expectations are being met.
- Communicate with drivers and customers quickly and effectively to resolve any delivery issues that may arise throughout the night.
- Communicate to next shift manager(s) the status of all routes to ensure for a seamless transition to the the next team.
- Notify Customer of issues/changes that might impact customer expectations or affect load assignments

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Transportation Operations Coordinator to support the daily operations of a 13-driver trucking fleet. This position plays a critical role in ensuring smooth dispatch coordination, driver support, regulatory compliance, and transportation administration.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a trucking or logistics environment and possesses a strong understanding of DOT regulations, driver qualification requirements, and transportation office workflows.
This role reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with drivers, dispatch, and office staff to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Dispatch Support
- Assist with daily dispatch coordination and load entry
- Communicate directly with drivers regarding schedules, route updates, documentation, and operational changes
- Track and collect Proof of Delivery (PODs) and ensure timely submission

- Support route planning and scheduling adjustments as needed

Qualifications

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for the overall on-site operation of the Dollar General dedicated fleet. Manages the on-site fleet team. - Achieve Private Fleet Performance Indicators while adhering to Federal, State, local, and organizational rules and regulations. 20%
- Accountable for overall driver training, driver payroll, time-at-home, driver retention, idle reduction, MPG improvement, driver load dispatch assignment, load optimization, equipment usage, and effective use of the driver management system. 10%
- Champion Driver retention by building and maintaining driver relationships through understanding and meeting driver needs. These needs include, but are not limited to home time, payroll, utility, equipment breakdowns, logging violations, equipment issues, etc. 5%
- Provides ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and project participation for the Outbound Operations team that includes, among other things, the development of scorecards for specific key performance indicators, analysis of the data and implementation of new ideas and processes. 5%
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Proven leadership and knowledge of transportation industry, FMCSA Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) program, and DOT regulations.
- Experience managing dedicated fleet operations and OTR drivers.
- Strong communication skills written and verbal, listening and interpersonal skills with strong problem solving and innovative thinking.
- Excellent attention to detail, planning, and organization skills.
- Proficient in usage of transportation optimization software to perform routing, tendering, scheduling, and shipment tracking, as well as MS Office software.
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment.
20% travel required.
WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics preferred
- Three to five years in transportation operations for a logistics company preferred.
- Transportation experience managing at least 100 or more drivers and onsite driver management experience preferred. Driver Dispatch Management System experience preferred.
