The Advanced Aortic Imaging for Clinical and Translational Research (AAI-CTR) lab at UW–Madison is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and validate next-generation imaging biomarkers for aortic disease. If you want your algorithms to change how patients are monitored and treated, not just generate papers (although there is plenty of that too), this is the role.

Why This Lab:

Our group has built several image analysis techniques that have completely changed how we view aortic disease. Specifically, vascular deformation mapping (VDM) is a technique that detects aortic deformation patterns invisible to conventional diameter measurement, and we are actively translating it from research tool to clinical product. Our work sits at the intersection of deep learning, image registration, and clinical decision-making, with active industry partnerships aimed at commercializing the methods we develop. Former trainees have moved into competitive industry positions, co-developed new IP, and gone on to train at other top-tier programs. This is a lab where technical innovation and clinical impact are not separate goals.

What You’ll Do:

Algorithm & Pipeline Development

• Design, train, and validate DL/ML models for aortic CT and MRI (segmentation, registration, shape/growth modeling, VDM pipelines).
• Build and optimize image-based pipelines for longitudinal aortic surveillance using large, multi-center datasets.
• Benchmark algorithms against clinical reference standards; lead external validation and reproducibility testing.

Clinical Translation

• Collaborate directly with cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, and radiologists to define clinically meaningful performance targets.
• Advance investigational tools toward real-world use: workflow integration, reliability testing, and documentation aligned with regulatory and commercial pathways.
• Apply novel analysis methods to large patient populations (UW and multi-center cohorts) to generate evidence that supports clinical adoption.

Data & Project Leadership

LPNs provide direct and indirect care under the direction of an RN including procedures, treatments, and related duties as assigned and within the NYS Scope of Practice for an LPN.

e Medication administration — Conduct daily medication pass with accuracy and care in accordance with physician orders and facility guidelines.

 Shift leadership — provide leadership for the care team during your shift, including guidance and support.

e Team collaboration — work closely with resident assistants, other nurses, and management in a cooperative, respectful environment.

• Documentation — complete required documentation promptly and accurately to support resident care.

• Consult with the RN on any changes in a care plan or schedule and communicate with patients and their families about their care plan.

• Attends and actively participates in in-servicing, orienting and educational activities.

Education Requirements:

• Must be a high school graduate.

• Must graduate from a nursing education program acceptable to the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

• Must be licensed with current registration in New York.

Must be able to:

• Stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time

• Read and write using medical terminology

• Working knowledge of computers including electronic medication administration records, processing of orders, checking email, and preforming required in servicing, along with use of other required applications Have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care

• Maintain composure and positivity in a high stress environment

• Promote physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being of each resident Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness

Pay Range: $24.00 - $31.10, ** Increased Shift Differentials starting at $4.00 per hour on weekdays, and $8.00 per hour on the weekends**

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

What's the role? We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Models team. In this role, you will manage a team of motivated ICs to build the next generation of Etsy's models platform, which in turn will enable your customer teams to improve the quality of search, ads, recommendations, and other ML applications for nearly 100M buyers and over 5M sellers. What's this team like at Etsy? The Machine Learning Enablement Initiative builds and maintains a complete ecosystem of ML systems including our feature & embeddings store, model training, serving, orchestration and testing infrastructure. The Models team is responsible for the model catalog, APIs, and serving infrastructure that runs our online models at high scale (millions of inferences per second). It is a small team historically focused on operations, but transitioning to play a more direct role in the application layer. The team is presently leading Etsy's migration from Tensorflow to Pytorch, building upon an innovative architecture designed in-house and based on KServe, NVIDIA Triton, Apache Arrow, and Ray. We are using this opportunity to fill in historical gaps in automation, integration, and standardization across the ML platform. We aspire to unify modeling approaches across all major ML development teams at Etsy. What does the day-to-day look like? Meet with customers to understand their latest use cases. Work with your team and partners to translate those use cases into concrete requirements. Offer an informed point of view on engineering, system design, and machine learning considerations. Keep track of ongoing issues (stability, performance, cost) with models on the platform, and identify short-term fixes and long-term platform improvements. Maintain a product roadmap, lead agile processes and plan workstreams for a team of 4 ICs. Occasionally lead multi-functional \"tiger teams\" for dedicated projects. Coach your ICs and support their career development trajectories. Passion for building platforms that don't just work, but that are easy to maintain and extend, and are delightful to use. You are a strong collaborator, communicator, and coach and you are passionate about helping the engineers around you grow and learn. You have 5+ years of experience building, iterating and solving complex problems with a significant backend component. Background and hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes) is a plus.
