Duties

Who we need

Asset Management

What you will bring to the position:

Bringing demonstrated experience in building complex real estate proformas across asset classes, the Senior Real Estate Analyst will also have the ability to form a well-reasoned and digestible investment thesis and present it to various audiences. Michigan Paving and Materials is seeking a Claims Manager who can manage and complete various claims and processes throughout the organization and third-party systems associated with the Risk and Safety Department. The individual selected for this role will be reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management and is expected to enhance the consistency pertaining to claim and risk management.
This position will be based out of the Michigan Paving and Materials Canton Corporate Office, and there are opportunities for remote work.
Job Functions
Claims Management – Workers Compensation, Liability Claims (Auto, Property, General, Contractual)
- Provide oversight of Workers Compensation and Liability claims by assisting in investigation, valuation, and ultimate resolution for both non-litigated and litigated matters.
- Mitigates the organization's exposure to risk by coordinating all claims-related activities along with our local management and safety managers.
- Reviews first and third-party claims for irregularities, accuracy, and completeness. Requests additional information, where necessary, for completion of claim processing. Maintains updated records and prepares required reports.
- Resolving bona fide claims at the least possible cost through various risk management and risk transfer techniques, whenever possible.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and third-party administrator (TPA) to drive WC and Liability claims resolution.
- Direct the program to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, gathering data on claims for both record keeping and loss forecasting purposes, and estimating the financial value of claims.
- Supports the Regional Director regarding all aspects of claims administration, loss forecasting, company compliance and analysis to assist in loss reduction and safety of employees.
- The primary function of this position is claims management. Knowledge and/or experience in contracts and insurance requirements would be a plus.
Contract Risk and Compliance
- Identifying contract risk and leading improvements to mitigate/reduce operational and contractual risk.
- Work with and assist Vendor Compliance Manager in the collection, review and submittal of contractual and insurance documents pertaining to contractors, subcontractors and vendors for the organization.
- Submitting claims and company incidents into internal and, when required, third party systems such as Riskonnect, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, ISNet, etc.
- Maintain documentation and submit required information pertaining to corporate risk & safety reporting, internal reporting systems and annual certification requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field of study or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience managing Liability claims with an insurer, third-party administrator (TPA), or risk management function.
- Demonstrated skills working with outside advisors, insurers, TPA, and legal partners.
- Professional designations such as CCP, AIC, ARM or paralegal experience a plus.

Responsibilities
Portfolio Management and Analytics
Detailed performance review of the operating portfolio of grid connected or behind-the-meter investments, including various aspects of production, revenue, and operating expenses. We are seeking a Director of International Trade Compliance to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s global import and export compliance programs. This role ensures adherence to all applicable international trade laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and customs requirements. The Director will develop strategic compliance frameworks, supervise licensing and classification activities, and collaborate cross-functionally to mitigate regulatory risks.
Export Compliance
- Oversee export compliance strategies aligned with U.S. and international regulations.
- Manage export licensing activities, including DSP-5 licenses, Commerce licenses, and Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs).
- Conduct product classification and jurisdictional analysis under ITAR and EAR.
- Manage export authorizations via DECCS and SNAP-R.
- Monitor and apply ITAR exemptions and EAR exceptions appropriately.

Import Compliance

- Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Law, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in global trade compliance, including import/export operations.
- In-depth knowledge of ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs import regulations, and international trade laws.
- Experience with government systems such as DECCS and SNAP-R.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data analysis and reporting. Experienced in extracting and interpreting reports from ERP systems and the ACE Portal to support operational and compliance needs.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed.
SUMMARY
The Senior Associate will be responsible for the administration, coordination, and documentation of asset-related activities and insurance programs, as well as execution of day-to-day finance and treasury operations. This is a high-trust role on our Finance/Accounting Team that takes ownership of the administrative support for various personal, real estate, and investment-related assets of our Clients.
The Senior Associate position is a full-time, benefit eligible, hourly, non-exempt position. The primary work location for this position is on-site at Buttonwood’s offices in Ada, MI.

RESPONSBILITIES
Entity & Asset Administration
- Coordinate the formation, maintenance, and administration of legal entities, including tracking governing documents, registrations, and compliance-related records
- Administer personal and investment-related assets across multiple entities, including:
- Maintaining detailed ownership and transaction records
- Assist with valuations and compliance requirements
- Coordinating insurance coverage and renewals
- Supporting asset acquisitions, dispositions, and related documentation
- Coordinate with appropriate government organizations regarding asset transactions (e.g. Secretary of State, Customs & Border Protection, foreign government departments, etc.)
- Distribute registration and insurance materials to appropriate stakeholders
- Prepare periodic asset reports for Client or management review
Finance & Treasury Administration
- Execute and document payment and treasury activities in accordance with internal controls, approval protocols, and established procedures
- Perform daily cash management activities
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash management reports
- Receive, verify and reconcile expense reports
- Reconcile vendor accounts and statements
- Serve as a primary administrator for financial systems, including accounting software, , Concur, and banking platforms
- Assist with the administration of bank accounts
Administrative Support
- Assist with the improvement of operational controls, procedures, and workflows across financial and asset administration functions
- Support cross-functional projects involving finance, asset management, and legal stakeholders, as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 5+ years administrative, insurance, finance operations, or related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Working knowledge of accounting systems or other database reporting tools preferred
- Ability to sit, stand and complete work at a computer for prolonged periods of time

Description of Job
The applicant must have relevant building maintenance skills including, plumbing, electrical, boiler, roof, windows as well as minor plaster and painting. Must be a dynamic, creative, self-starter with experience in all basic building systems (domestic water pumps, hot water, sump pumps etc, heat exchanges, cooling towers, fire and safety as well as electrical systems) as well as willing to undertake tasks such as light bulb replacement, snow removal and other duties deemed necessary by the Resident Manager.
Responsibilities include general maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness to ensure the facilities and equipment in the building are in good working order at all times.
Other Responsibilities:
- Janitorial maintenance (cleaning facilities as needed)
- Builds and repairs cabinets, counters, closets etc. as needed Making minor electric repairs, plastering and painting as needed
- Minor plumbing which includes fixing leaks, washers, minor pipe replacements Repairs entrance and internal doors, locks, hinges
- Reporting any concerns to management Perform daily walk throughs of the mechanical spaces and building grounds
- Perform and complete work orders through BuildingLink
- Communicate directly with residents through a building email Undertake duties as assigned or emergency task
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years' experience in residential buildings and experience interacting with tenants Proven experience as handyman
- Experience with hardware tools, electrical equipment, and power tools
- Understanding of BMS, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems such as: Chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, gas boilers, pumps
- General carpentry knowledge/skills, such as: hanging doors, cut holes and hinges on doors, trim, crown molding, deck and framing skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors
- Dependability, good manners and excellent communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Immediately responds to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis
- High school graduate, a certificate in trade school or equivalent work experience
- Ability to resolve problems and adhere to safety guidelines
- Licenses such as S12, S13, P99, etc. (Preferred)
