The Pathology and Laboratory Department is a twelve-member group that serves four hospitals in Santa Clara County: O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA; Regional Medical Center, in San Jose, CA; Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, CA; and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA.

About the Position

The Chair will oversee departmental strategic direction, clinical operations, quality improvement, faculty development, and the integration of all pathology and laboratory services within the health system. The Chair is responsible for the leadership oversight of all medical staff functions (i.e. OPPE, FPPE, peer review). The Chair will collaborate with hospital leaders and clinical department chairs across SCVH to ensure delivery of pathology and laboratory services consistently and accurately, timely results that directly impact patient safety, diagnosis care and will be responsible for developing and implementing clinical or educational programs for the department. DescriptionSummary:Emergency Care Center Technician Senior works with the RNs in the Emergency Room to provide care to patients.

They have special skills beyond those of a basic Emergency Technician;for example, they can perform venipuncture, dress wounds, remove staples and sutures, and measure peak expiratory flow rate.Responsibilities:Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.Gives basic care to patients in a compassionate manner.Takes and records the following vital signs and reports any change or abnormal findings to the RN: Temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.Gives the following treatments, maintaining respect for patient's privacy: weigh patient, test urine (acetone, sugar, blood), apply warm/cold compresses, apply ice caps, and care for the body after death.Collect specimens according to RN's instructions and to the procedure.
