Summary:
Supports the physician in treating fractures by applying casts, splints, braces, orthotic devices and setting up traction equipment for patients in the cast room, operating room, outpatient clinics, and divisions. Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Possesses one of the following: • Previous experience as a cast technician or in a related position in the operating room or military. • Previous experience as an orthopedic technician in a hospital setting. • Completion of a formal training program in Orthopedic Technology, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or equivalent military training. Certified as an Orthopedic Technician by an approved issuing body or obtains a certification within 1 year of employment. BLS Certification from the AHA or obtains within 90 days. Knowledge of human anatomy sufficient to perform duties of the job. Basic knowledge of math. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with patients and their families as well as with physicians and co-workers Ability to apply all types and complexities of casts traction and perform all phases of work independently. Reliable transportation to travel to satellites. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Summary: The Surgical Technician Trainee learns and performs the clinical rotations under the direction and supervision of a training instructor within an accredited Surgical Technology program.
The individual is expected to complete training curriculum, specified clinical rotations and specified on-the-job training.
The trainee performs a variety of indirect and direct patient care duties.
Upon successful completion of the program, the individual may transition into a Surgical Technologist I role.
The trainee role is a time limited position.

An Operating Room Registered Nurse at MercyOne provides perioperative patient care, specifically in the intraoperative phase, in both the scrub and circulating roles according to established guidelines.
Essential Functions:
Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.R. team members.
Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing standards of aseptic technique and by controlling the physical and psychological aspects of that environment.
Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, and families.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function.
Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover
Schedule:
36 hours per week
Day shift: 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
On call rotation for weekend, holiday and night hours with a 30-minute response time
General Requirements:
Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
Possession of Illinois Registered Nurse license within 1 year of hire.
Operating Room experience preferred.
Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Ability to read, write and speak English language.

An Operating Room Registered Nurse at MercyOne provides perioperative patient care, specifically in the intraoperative phase, in both the scrub and circulating roles according to established guidelines.
Essential Functions:
Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.R. team members.
Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing standards of aseptic technique and by controlling the physical and psychological aspects of that environment.
Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, and families.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function.
Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover
Schedule:
36 hours per week
Day shift: 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
On call rotation for weekend, holiday and night hours with a 30-minute response time
General Requirements:
Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
Possession of Illinois Registered Nurse license within 1 year of hire.
Operating Room experience preferred.
Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Ability to read, write and speak English language.
