Job Description
The Laundry Room Attendant is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The position is also responsible for performing the daily operations of the laundry facilities. This includes loading, washing and storing of laundry items.
The Laundry Room Attendant:
- Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
- Operates commercial washers, dryers, flatwork ironers, sorts, feeds and pulls linens. Catches, folds, stacks and bundles with or without tying machines. Sorts and loads towels, sheets and various other linens and terry items onto linen cart.
- Stacks linens onto shelves.
- Maintains inventory control, item count and associated recordkeeping.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to be a team player while completing assigned tasks accordingly and in a timely manner.
- Prior laundry experience preferred.
- Must have flexible availability, especially on weekends.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

What will I be doing?
To maintain Hilton's standards of quality it is the purpose of this position to oversee the laundry room, including training staff as needed.
Fills in position in Laundry when needed (due to absences, breaks, etc.), Trains staff in safe operation of equipment and the use of proper processing methods.
Ensure quality linen is being produced and separate old and damaged linen while processing.
Instruct and inform laundry staff of schedule and equipment to be used.
Monitor par levels and advise laundry manager when reordering is needed.
Monitor stain percentage, damaged linen and production reports. Schedule re-wash cycles of stained linen and schedule repairs of damaged linen as needed.
Supervise and record hourly production of pieces per operator hour.

What will you do?
- Communicate with Office Coordinator or Laundry Supervisor regarding Housemen needs for linens for the floors and cottage
- Operate and tend the machines including washing and drying articles, such as sheets, draperies, linens, and carpets ensuring the correct volume of detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives are used as needed
- Sort, count and put away articles removed from dryers, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laundry closet
- Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, locate color imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment
- Record all loads washed and dried to calculate productivity including loss of linens due to stains, tears and wear

Basic Function & Job Duties:
Performs a variety of laundry duties to provide clean and sanitary linens and terry for our guests including but not limited to washing, drying, sorting, folding and inspecting items for wear and tear and stains. Essential Functions of Laundry Assistant:
- Loads articles into washer and dryer
- Soaks contaminated articles as per policy
- Sort dried articles according to identification numbers and type. Fold and place items into appropriate bins
- Lubricate machines
- Mends torn articles. Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists.
- Iron required items
- Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula. Dyes and bleaches specific articles
- Able to read and understand equipment operation manuals
- Performs all aspects of duties and responsibilities in manner that optimizes resident safety
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Assures that sanitation and quality standards are met; including to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
- Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Follow ALL infection control procedures

Qualifications of Laundry Assistant:
- High School Diploma or general equivalency is preferred
- 1 year of experience is preferred
- Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
- Ability to communicate in English in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families and any outside customer
