Position description

The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology (NST) in the Rausser College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in Nutritional Science and related topics, should an opening arise during the academic year and in the summer. The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology focuses on the metabolic biology of nutrients and toxicants in relation to human health and disease. Our research and curriculum span a breadth of topics, from delivery of nutrients to mammalian cells and their molecular functions, through the influence of genetics on diet-associated human disease, to programs and policies that address human and environmental health and safety.



The department also offers a Master in Nutritional Sciences & Dietetics graduate program, which combines a strong foundation in the biological and chemical sciences with specialized advanced coursework that focuses on nutrient/non-nutrient function and metabolism. The application of this field informs recommendations for dietary patterns to achieve optimum health and the treatment or prevention of disease conditions as well as food production and safety.



The department typically seeks two different types of lecturer positions when available; one is to teach the courses for the Master in Nutritional Sciences & Dietetics graduate program (NST Dietetic Lecturer) and the other one is to teach the non-dietetic courses in the department (NST Non-Dietetic Lecturer). Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department.



General Duties:

We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium, or large lecture and/or laboratory courses. The primary responsibilities for NST Lecturer positions include:

* Delivering lectures and holding office hours

* Planning and preparing lessons; researching and developing new topics, teaching materials, and online resources

* Supervising Graduate Students Instructors (GSIs), if applicable.

* Mentoring students and contributing to departmental and program activities, if teaching in dietetics

* Coordinating lab preparations with the Teaching Lab Staff, if teaching a lab course

* Developing exams and projects and assigning grades

* Maintaining accurate records and monitoring students' progress, as well as addressing any special student needs

* Maintaining knowledge of, and implementing, college policies.

This service supports DoD/Military Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements) and ProSidian Team Members work as part of a Key Personnel Cadre (Labor Category: Program Manager) to fulfill FFP - Firm Fixed Price (FFP) requirements and to shall serve as Program/Project Manager with responsibility for management, oversight, recruitment, support, operations and stakeholder engagement of CONUS/OCONUS Digital Training Facilities (DTF's). This position is responsible for providing and engaging in consistent communication to the Enterprise Management System (EMS) staff, for continuity of operations supporting all stakeholders using the Army Training Information System (ATIS) Digital Training Facilities (DTF's) and at each of the 78 CONUS/OCONUS DTF sites. The Role:

The Project Executive provides overall leadership and direction on the construction project. The Role:

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for all project administration including all contractual requirements, agreements with trade partners, purchase orders, and risk management. This individual also manages general work performance and quality, and overall team progress against the project plan.


Responsibilities:

Budget Updates:

  • Produce thorough forecast of Cost-to-Complete which drills down to identify potential exposures
  • Coordinate the use of Oracle with Expedition to readily identify exposures
  • Require the project team to track costs of field directives and back charges for forecasting purposes
  • Create detailed analysis of line-item exposures, particularly unit price contracts
  • Follow the Forecasting Calendar for on-time completion of forecasts
  • Teach the Standard Operating Procedures for budget updating to others

Change Order Management:

  • Require the project team to fully utilize Expedition to track all Proposed Change Order (PCO) items including in-scope and out-of-scope

Job Summary: To underwrite a Miscellaneous Medical & Life Sciences account within the Healthcare Team and provide counsel and advice on Underwriting related issues. Provide technical expertise in this business area and maintain and improve market reputation of the Beazley brand.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting

  • Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Miscellaneous Medical & Life Sciences business as part of the Healthcare team.
  • Structure tailor-made solutions by considering the team underwriting parameters and underwriting policy and using underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing.
  • Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures if necessary to ensure long term profitability at account level.
  • Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability, using rating models as applicable.
  • Monitor peer underwriters in their daily work to ensure profitability as well as efficient and cost effective administration of the French and continental European Miscellaneous Medical & Life Sciences account.
  • Monitor and supervise assistants in their daily work to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy and consistency within the team and Specialty Risks.
  • Comply with Beazley's underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd's, or Beazley's internal MGAs.
  • Develop a good working relationship with the claims managers on this class of business.

Client Management

  • Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure clients' satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients to get a mutual understanding of both their and Beazley's needs.
  • Maintenance of good business relationships with brokers.
  • Maintain awareness of overall Beazley product range and take advantages of opportunities to introduce other Beazley products to clients.

General

  • Leverage networking opportunities within the business to develop standardised underwriting policy and best practice within Beazley.

Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in healthcare-related insurance segments such as Miscellaneous Medical, Allied Healthcare, or Healthcare Professional Liability, including risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management.
  • Advanced analytical and financial skills with the ability to interpret underwriting guidelines, perform exposure evaluations, and make data-driven decisions.

Primary Purpose

Accountable for successful delivery of clients' statement of work within budget on clinical research projects, maintains a positive relationship with clients, supervises project leaders, mentors staff, and works collaboratively with Business Development to help generate new business.

Qualifications

Education/Requirements


Associate Project Leader:

-Bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific discipline, with at least 6 years of experience within pharma and/or CRO;

-Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience within pharma and/or CRO;

-PhD with at least 1 years of experience within pharma and/or CRO

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles appropriate to the position with a typical tenure of at least 1 year management experience in a research environment.

  • Prior CRO/clinical trial management of late-stage clinical trials preferred

  • Demonstrable track record of success delivering complex/high-priority clinical trials within the agreed time, quality, and cost

  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills, combined with sound business judgment

  • Ability to work proactively and effectively, with creative problem-solving and collaboration skills
    Highly motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
    Strong cross-functional project management and time management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in therapeutic research areas that will align with Emmes' expertise, including substance use and mental health is strongly preferred
