A day in the life of a Patient Care Technician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Providing patient care, based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the guests/patients served in assigned service
- Providing for effective and safe guest/patients outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
- Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patient's status and rendered care
- Taking self-directed or self-motivated initiative to do more than is expected or required in the job, acting before being required to by events, improving job performance, and/or creating new opportunities
- Participating in interdisciplinary collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care
- Participating in Unit/Department Performance Improvement [PI] activities
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Completion of one of the following: - Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program or - Fundamentals of Nursing program from an accredited school of nursing or - HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program - Or equivalent medical background experience, such as EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, Nursing Assistant. Note: Candidates that have not completed one of the programs but meet the other requirements will be considered for selection into the HMH PCT Apprentice Program. If selected, the candidate will be hired into the role of PCT Apprentice. Upon successful completion of the HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program, the candidate will be transferred to the Patient Care Technician role.
3. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care and service based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Experienced or certified in phlebotomy and checking EKG, vital signs and blood sugar preferred
2. At least one (1) year PCT or CNA experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred or eligible for the HMH PCT apprentice program.
3. Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician who has successfully completed a PCT program which includes Phlebotomy, EKG and nursing assistant course both in the theoretical and clinical setting.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Responsible for receiving all donations in an expedient, courteous manner and places items in the appropriate location in the production room or sales floor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accepts all donations from customers, providing outstanding customer service.
- Responsible for correctly labeling Gaylords.
- Ensures that a receipt is offered to each donor, regardless of the size of the donation.
- Inquires of any potential hazardous product being donated and provides locations list for proper disposal to the customer.
- Writes up sales tickets and sold signs for furniture, electrical, and other large items.
- Assists customers with loading and unloading furniture or other items to and from vehicles.
- Maintains the placement of all merchandise and the organization of the production room by following PPM (picture process map) standards.
- Assists in loading or unloading of merchandise onto/off trucks or trailers, as needed.
- Safely operates pallet jack and walkie stacker.

Position Description:
Works as a member of the store team to lead an excellent customer and brand experience, and promote sales. Responsible for processing required amount of donated merchandise in preparation for sale at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities' store locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives and processes merchandise, including pricing and ticketing, meets minimum quota, item per Gaylord, and sell thru set for assigned department.

Position Summary:
Performs laboratory tests and related computer, clerical and technical functions independent of direct supervision while following established procedures and protocols. Required to exercise independent judgment and good judgment with interpretation of testing or quality control, maintenance and repair of equipment and records, and actively perform quality assurance activities. Technologist may also function (when qualified) as charge/lead technologist, educator, or researcher within the laboratory settings. Any technologist will be expected to be able to assist the Lab Manager in all phases of section operations.
Education, License & Cert:
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by the ASCP Board of Registry or Board eligible preferred.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in the physical sciences may be considered with relevant experience in a clinical laboratory.
- A year’s internship in a clinical laboratory School of Medical Technology is highly preferred.
- Medical technologists meeting the criteria for licensure by the NYSDOH are preferred.
- If working at a NY lab site, a NY license is required.
- A candidate licensed as a Medical Technologist in NYSDOH will be considered with or without a bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
A working knowledge of all sections of the laboratory is highly preferred. May specialize in any section.
Essential Functions:
In collaboration with a manager or independently, depending on the situation: Recognizes equipment malfunction and performs troubleshooting and documents corrective actions taken. Contacts technical service and the Lab Manager regarding potential repairs. Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity and specific factors that might influence test results in a competent manner. Participates/assists in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, space, method comparison, cost analysis and establishment of reference intervals, writes and revises technical procedures and any other areas that might assist the departmental manager.
Incorporates educational techniques in the instruction of new employees or students in the laboratory’s instructional activities. Recognizes abnormal and critical results and communicates and documents them following good patient care, regulatory and procedural needs. Provides direction and guidance to medical laboratory technicians and other support personnel. Properly organizes, prioritizes, distributes, and acts on laboratory workload. Documents unusual situations and/or required nonconformities and reports or refers to appropriate person or manager.
Maintains an adequate supply of materials and either orders or makes recommendations to the Lab Manager. This includes assistance in re‐supply and organization of supplies. Maintains a clean, neat work area during and at the end of scheduled work period. Communicates appropriate information regarding the section and testing status to incoming shift. Evaluates and solves problems related to the collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis. Is knowledgeable and complies with all procedures for specimen collection and processing. Remains knowledgeable and maintains compliance with all departmental, organization and regulatory agencies rules, regulations, and procedures.
Collects data, prepares charts, runs tests, and makes recommendations on new or different test procedures to the Lab Supervisor. Observes proper safety practices in performance of job duties. Under the Direction of the Vice President of Operations of Guthrie Medical Group, P.C., this position will have operational oversight of assigned GMG locations and/ or service lines as a part of the GMG administrative team. The Senior Director will play a key role in development of new programs and services within the assigned service locations. The Senior Director will communicate reports and information across their span of assignment and, where appropriate, system‐wide to providers and employees. Recommends and facilitates action plans. Experience:

Essential Functions:
1. Develops and maintains partnerships with regional physicians, advanced practice practitioners, other clinicians, and administrative leaders to facilitate efficient quality oriented medical practices.
2. Directs all activities of regional offices/ service line functions as assigned.
3. In conjunction with Human Resources, recruits and develops Regional Practice Directors, Managers and Supervisors through which the offices daily support functions will be maintained.
4. Works with other leaders to develop systems, which standardize work processes thus allowing intradepartmental/ regional office resource sharing.
5. Acts as resource for regional lead physicians and/ or service line clinical Chiefs for all administrative issues.
6. In conjunction with practice/office managers and finance, is responsible for budget preparation, monitoring, and appropriate follow‐up action for all assigned offices.
7. Recommends changes and additions to administrative policies to maintain consistency with Clinic objectives and strategic plans.
8. Represents the Guthrie Clinic to outside agencies and community groups, when requested, to promote good public relations for the Clinic.
9. Represents the Guthrie Medical Group on system‐wide committees and projects when requested.
10. Assists in the promotion of corporate leadership philosophy.
11. Ensure such functions as charging, coding, claims, medical records and patient relations are standardized to promote patient satisfaction and maximize employee productivity and flexibility.
12. Analyzes work processes and procedures and implements changes to improve workflow and efficiency. Supports such changes with both data and analysis.
13. Recommends improvements in physical plant, including renovations/construction and routine maintenance, to improve both workflow and patient satisfaction.
14. Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care and management trends and practices.
15. In conjunction with regional lead physicians, service line Chiefs seeks new services/opportunities to improve GMGs professional and financial objectives and supports such actions with financial analysis.
16. Serves as "GMG Administrator‐On‐Call" as scheduled

This is a role in which the Regulatory and Emergency Preparedness Coord serves regularly in a highly visible capacity: experience, skills, demeanor, and ability to handle difficult and sometimes stressful circumstances are a clear expectation. This position leads the Facilities staff in collecting, organizing, documenting, analyzing, and reporting of data pertaining to the Regulatory Agencies (The Joint Commission, NFPA, OSHA, etc.). Participates in The Joint Commission Life Safety Survey and assists in managing the Utilities and Fire & Life Safety Management Plans. Serves as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for emergency preparedness and emergency management for Guthrie Lourdes Hospital. Responsible for all elements of the emergency preparedness program while adhering to organizational goals and objectives.
Experience
- Minimum of four years' experience in Regulatory and/or Quality Improvement and
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in corporate safety and security, law enforcement, emergency management, or emergency response.
- Broad knowledge of healthcare regulations
- Ability to interact with administration, staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Knowledgeable of Joint Commission/CMS/DOH regulations
- Statistical analysis and computer literacy experience mandatory
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Healthcare experience is preferred.
Education

License/Certification:
- Valid Driver's License
- Relevant certifications in areas of Environmental/Regulatory compliance and safety including IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 required
- Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) preferred
- Professional certification in Emergency Management is preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Assures facility regulatory compliance with hospital policy/procedures, local, state, Joint Commission and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements and regulations.
- Oversees the collection of Facilities data, reporting of Facilities data to regulatory and insurance agencies. Provides technical review of Facilities data and reports.
- Assists with organization and execution of all Life Safety and Environment of Care programs and inspections at Guthrie Lourdes.
- Assist with organization and preparing agendas and meeting minutes for the Environment of Care Committee.
- Assists management during Joint Commission survey. Prepares and maintains Facilities technical files as necessary to obtain/maintain regulatory accreditation/inspection approvals.
- Participates in campus Environment of Care Committees with teams at Guthrie Lourdes. Ensures the Facilities work orders are created through the proper channels, that the work order is complete, and follow-up is conducted on outstanding items for completion.
- Works collaboratively with the System Regulatory Team to maintain standards compliance across the Guthrie Clinic system.
- Develops, implements and maintains written emergency plans and policies.
- Plans and coordinates disaster response and crisis management activities to include training and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Conducts and coordinates routine training, drills and educational initiatives to hospital personnel.
- Develop contacts and serve as liaison with municipalities, county departments, and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination, and exchanges of personnel and equipment.
- Serves on various environment of care, emergency management and safety committees with direct oversight of related management plans and policies.
- Manages assigned budgets and capital projects to ensure adherence to forecasted targets and successful completion of initiatives.

Under the direction of the Senior Financial Leadership for the Guthrie hospital and/or other related entities, the Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning and supervising the activities and personnel in the relationship and integration of Finance with their Operations Partner in the areas of financial reporting, financial analysis, and the relationship of finance with operations. In addition, the Manager will have a working relationship and input with various other functional areas such as cost accounting, budgeting, feasibility studies, financial planning and other projects/analysis related to their assigned entities. Responsible for coordinating activities concerned with financial administration, general accounting, patient business services and financial and statistical reporting with their Operations Partner.
Education, License & Cert:
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from an accredited four‐year college is required; Master’s in business administration and/or CPA/HFMA Certification is preferred.
Experience:
Four to six years of experience in the healthcare industry in the areas of financial reporting, forecasting and cost accounting with supervisory responsibilities. Working knowledge of healthcare operations, month end closing process, case‐based forecasting and cost allocations. Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle and EPIC is a plus and a strong working knowledge of Excel and Word is required.
Essential Functions:
1. Serves as the primary resource for Guthrie entity specific forecasting, financial reporting, cost reporting, tax reporting, and financial support to operations
2. Keep abreast of all regulations, procedures, and interpretations that effect third party reimbursement for acute care hospitals, freestanding ambulatory surgery centers and multi‐specialty physician groups.
3. Provides overall Guthrie entity specific financial oversight and monitoring, leads monthly analysis of operating plan forecasts to actual results and report risks and opportunities to senior leadership
4. Manages development and review of Guthrie entity specific ad hoc reports and analysis as requested and provides day‐to‐day analytics support to business operations
5. Acts as budget representative, working closely with the Director of Budgeting to strategically manage all financial activities within the Guthrie specific entity related to business operations. Oversees efficient and effective Guthrie entity specific forecasting and planning processes in compliance with corporate policies and procedures
6. Collaborate with the Financial Decision Support Team on the use of the decision support system and tools related to forecast and cost accounting and with the Managed Care Team both on an annual and ongoing basis
7. Establishes and monitors appropriate financial measures and interprets and uses financial data for making informed business decisions
8. Participates in special projects to improve reporting, analytical tools and internal processes to enhance management decision making and implement best practices
9. Hires, leads, and develops high‐performing direct reports to broaden skill sets and capabilities to enable professional growth and to achieve identified strategies and daily operational effectiveness.
