JOB SUMMARY
The Office Coordinator performs all duties required to support and coordinate functions efficiently to meet and/or exceed customer expectations. Responsible for compiling patient’s medical record, coordinating patient’s tests and procedures with multiple internal and external sources. Completes patient order entry and maintains par level of patient and departmental supplies, and is an instrumental resource of patient information to physicians and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promptly acknowledges a patient upon their arrival to the department. Quickly and efficiently addresses the patients’ needs. Knows and relays information to the patient i.e. wait times, special instructions, etc.
- Maintains confidential patient records and physician orders via computer and paper.
- Communicates daily via telephone, fax, email to physicians, referring physicians, offices, and patients to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Enters physician orders into the HIS accurately for all imaging modalities.
- Demonstrates proficient computer skills in HIS, RIS, email, MS Word, MS Excel.
- Scans physician orders in the appropriate account in the HIS.
- Escort patients to the appropriate waiting area for their exam.
- Performs daily reminder calls to the patients. This includes specific exam information and preparation instructions.
- Coordinates imaging and procedures, ensuring accurate preps, diets, medications, and supplies, etc., are communicated to the patient and/or provider’s office. Prioritizes the scheduling of multiple tests and procedures.
- Schedules in HIS for all radiology modalities, follows the protocol for such scheduling, obtains proper paperwork, and required signatures in accordance of quality standards and to maintain accuracy.
- Accurately enters orders in HIS and reason for exam for appropriateness. Determines the correct patient account when placing imaging orders.
- Accurately utilizes RIS (Radiology Information System) to arrive patients and obtain patient information.
- Encourages cost savings for the department and organization.
- Provides excellent customer service, demonstrates professionalism and courteous telephone etiquette.
- Demonstrates flexibility, positive interpersonal relations in high volume, high traffic, and fast paced work environment.

RN Trainer Primary Responsibilities:
- To provide quality nursing services to consumers based on each consumer’s medical need and individual plan. Ensure that CRSI ICF’s and delegated sites operate under the current standards and regulations established by DODD Medicaid (Title XIX), State DODD Licensure, County Quality Assurance, and other authorities that may dictate standards of operation including nursing services, consumer safety, and staff training.
- Teach ODODD Medication Administration and Recertification classes and provide oversight for the training of Medication Administration, ensure that staff are appropriately certified and trained in company specific procedures for medication administration. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels (CSRH-NB), nestled in the heart of downtown New Braunfels, is a full-service, 94-private bed facility that continues to expand to meet the needs of New Braunfels’ strong population growth. Innovative equipment and procedures are utilized, including an Outpatient Imaging Center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center, including 24/7 neonatal coverage, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care, from diagnostics to open-heart surgery.
Summary:
The Emergency Department Technician requires the skills and knowledge of many areas such as: ED Tech, Patient Registrar, Unit Clerk, and Monitor Tech. The Emergency Department Tech performs a variety of RN delegated tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence and skill. He/she is knowledgeable of and follows all hospital policies and procedures. Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment.
Responsibilities:
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Assists with admission, transfer, and discharges of patients.
Commensurate with training, observes patient's condition, recognizes changes in patient status, and reports findings to the RN.
Escorts stable patients to other departments as required.
Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies.
Assists with ordering and maintaining stock items.
Maintains competency to perform special procedures such as: venipuncture, splinting, staple and suture removal
,
nonsterile dressing changes, peak expiration flow rate
,
pulse oximetry, and crutch training.
As delegated, sets up for Emergency Department procedures and assists the RN as directed.
As delegated by the RN, operates patient monitoring equipment, records, rhythm strips, runs 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings.
Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens as ordered, and inserts saline lock under the direction of the RN.
Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served.
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs duties of a clerical and non-nursing nature on the nursing units. Activities include serving as a receptionist for the unit, transcribing orders and requesting items for patient care, and assisting with maintaining patient, unit, and hospital records.
As a Patient Registrar - Greet all patients as they arrive in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner;
Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of customer service principles, and departmental expectations regarding customer service. Show concern for patient problems and ensure comfort of the patient while waiting to be registered or seen by the provider. Document in the computer system all necessary demographic, insurance, and financial information. Compile or retrieve scheduled reports from computer system.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Skills
A High School Diploma or GED is preferred
Completion of one of the following educational programs or previous CHRISTUS Emergency Technician experience is required:
Nursing Assistant program
Medical Assistant program
Basic EMT program, Intermediate EMT program
PT Care Tech program
Military basic combat training and Advanced Individual Training for military medics
Experience
1 - 2 years of patient care experience in an acute care hospital, emergency department, EMT field/Emergency Care, or military medic setting preferred
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS required
Must maintain one of the following certifications:
Certified Nursing Assistant license in the state of employment
Certified Medical Assistant
