The Director of Safety leads VCU Health’s overall safety program including on-going organization-wide compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards pertaining to Life Safety (LS) and the Environment of Care (EC) by developing, implementing, communicating, monitoring, and evaluating all practices, activities, programs, strategies, and initiatives thereto pertaining. Primary Purpose
The Safety Monitor II will implement Pharmacovigilance activities in collaboration with other members of the Pharmacovigilance and Medical Monitoring (PMM) department, under general supervision. The Safety Monitor II will assist senior level Safety Monitors with interventional and non-interventional clinical projects in conjunction with the assigned Medical Monitor/Medical Officer and the project team and may be assigned as the Primary Safety Monitor for small projects. In addition, the Safety Monitor II will assist with the designing and execution of the assigned Pharmacovigilance (PV) related projects (e.g., management of local or international PV systems for contracted Clients; PV supervision of RWE (Real World Evidence projects); etc.) in close cooperation with other Emmes roles, especially with Medical Officers/Medical Monitors (or other similar medical expert roles), Regulatory roles, etc. The Safety Monitor II will support the adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Pharmacovigilance Practice (GVP) and other relevant Pharmacovigilance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assists in performing safety monitoring activities in cooperation with project Medical Monitor/Medical Officer and other relevant project team members.
- Reviews safety events.
- Assists in the collection, assessment, monitoring, review and reporting of adverse drug reaction cases from all sources clinical (both interventional and non interventional), data sets analyzed in association with RWE projects, spontaneous reports, literature, etc.
- Provides first line evaluation of serious adverse events (SAEs).
- Communicates with site staff regarding reported AEs or SAEs to gather additional information.
- Prepares a summary narrative for each reported SAE suitable for Medical Monitor/Officer review, and inclusion in Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) reports, regulatory submissions, and final study reports.
- Coordinates the timely completion and submission of required reports to health authorities and business partners.
- Maintains ongoing database of SAEs and reconciles SAEs in the database as needed.

As part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to expanding the aircraft's operational and functional capabilities. Your professional experience in aircraft and system safety will further strengthen the team's ability to meet rigorous expectations of stakeholders and certification authorities. You will collaborate with members from other groups within Reliable Robotics to ensure the safety of new and novel systems necessary for unmanned aircraft operations.

In your role as a Systems Safety Engineer you will contribute to the development and architectural design supporting the delivery of prototypes and certifiable safety-critical flight systems in a dynamic start-up work environment.

We are seeking a Safety Engineer for our First Quality facility located in McElhattan, PA.
This position will be responsible for providing technical skills with tactical leadership in the development, operation and support of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies/programs/procedures to instill and sustain an incident-free work environment while ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory agency requirements.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
- Promote an action-oriented approach, instilling and exemplifying a strong EHS mindset for all team members resulting in the elements required to achieve and maintain a world class EHS culture.
- Active facilitation or participation in EHS related meetings and training sessions.
- Develops, manages, and implements Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
- Serve as an innovative, flexible EHS resource supporting the company/site/location. Participate in decisions on technical, regulatory, and cultural issues related to Environmental, Health, and Safety.
- Participate and/or lead continuous improvement in EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all team members, vendors, and customers.
- Participate in and/or lead incident investigations to effectively identify root cause/contributing factors and ensure proper implementation of all corrective actions.
- Ensure required EHS training is complete for all employees, newly hired and/or existing, and maintain training records.
- Provide technical support in the design and owner acceptance approval processes of controls for hazardous working conditions and unsafe activities, ensuring compliance with applicable EHS requirements.
- Be present and engaged with the workforce in their activities to establish and strengthen two-way communication, trust, and confidence in your ability to lead them.
- Facilitate communication of company EHS policies, procedures, and standards with all visitors, including contractors and vendors.
- Plan, perform and/or coordinate industrial hygiene sampling, analysis and interpretation of results in compliance with all applicable requirements for the exposure(s) identified.
- Maintain professional knowledge up to date with existing and proposed changes in applicable federal, state and local EHS regulations and standards.
- Participate in and/or lead the development, implementation, and maintaining of all applicable Safety Management Systems.
- Assist in Worker’s Compensation claims administration and coordination of the Return-to-Work program for injured team members.
- Accurate interpretation and application of Environmental, Health, and Safety codes, standards and related professional references (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, ADA, CCOHS, DOT/IATA, etc.).
- Carry out all administrative responsibilities associated with EHS compliance and program administration.
- Conduct regular walk through EHS inspections to identify hazards, document findings, recommend corrective actions that work within given constraints and verification of completed corrective actions and their effectiveness.
- Understand and administer reasonable suspicion and impairment programs used to conduct drug and alcohol testing, and other applicable standards as they may apply.
- Assist and/or lead in establishing risk management processes aimed at hazard condition control and injury prevention through studying incidents, observed and potential hazard conditions in various completed and planned work environments.
- Display consistent measure of integrity and company culture in all business-related activities.
- Track and trend incident data in Safety Management System.
- Responsible for the use and maintenance of all applicable company related data systems, software, peripherals, etc. to complete tasks as assigned.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Maintain safety data sheets in SDS Online and physical binders and keep GHS label stations stocked.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline required and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Environmental, Health and/or Safety field in Engineer/Specialist/Generalist role required.
- Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- PC proficiency is a definite.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance of all local, state, and federal safety requirements (OSHA).
- Good working knowledge of EPA regulations.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective actions.

The Project Safety Professional 2 position is an entry-level position, with a minimum expectation of experience in safety (construction safety preferred) and some construction experience. This position receives direction, guidance, and counsel from the Safety Manager, Project Manager, or above to complete and prioritize tasks. The Project Safety Professional 2 position executes safety related tasks and duties as specified in project safety plans and the Fessler & Bowman safety manual. The primary function of the Project Safety Professional 2 position is to maintain a safe workplace by recognizing and identifying unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and reporting them immediately to the Safety Manager, Project Manager or site team for correction. - Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record
- Possess sound knowledge of construction safety, and current federal, state and provincial safety requirements
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills in both an individual and group setting
- Strong ability to perform in an autonomous environment; organizing and prioritizing both time and tasks effectively
- CPR, first aid certified
- Accomplished Safety Trainer a plus
Travel:
Travel is required for this position. Travel may include travel between job sites and regional offices. Fessler and Bowman will compensate when applicable.

Work environments can include, but are not limited to: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings.
