Job Title: Sr. Digital Product Manager, Search & Discovery
General Summary
Responsible for driving the vision and execution of digital products (i.e., software applications), with a specific focus on enhancing search and discovery experiences, ensuring customers can easily find and engage with products across . Generally, works under minimal supervision on 1-3 features of medium complexity and/or an entire application. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize solutions that drive innovation, improve customer satisfaction, and align with business goals.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: (approximate percentage of time spent)
  • Studies end-user needs, defines product features and coordinates activities across teams to meet quality standards, project deadlines and business objectives. Activities include: gathering and writing requirements for medium and large application features; conducting competitive analyses; and using product discovery techniques to aid in prioritization of features (e.g., A/B, surveys, interviews, etc.). (60%)
  • Develops long-term product plans (i.e., roadmaps), and leads stakeholders through the roadmap process for assigned product(s). Activities include: conferring with engineering, marketing, clients, prospects, operations, legal and others, and developing financial models to aid in prioritization. (20%)
  • Monitors and reports on product utilization and identifies trends. (10%)
  • Provides guidance to less-experienced staff. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, marketing, business administration or related field, 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in e-commerce, search, or related digital products, or a similar role in an Agile, Scrum, Kanban or similar software application development and/or project management team environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
  • Strong customer facing digital subject matter expertise with experience working on medium complexity features and/or an entire software application.
  • Experience with search technologies and platforms (e.g., , Solr, Algolia, or similar) is required.
  • Experience reviewing vendors and RFP processes for enterprise search platforms is preferred.
  • Proven track record of launching a search platform, from initial discovery through execution and successful launch.
  • Knowledge of A/B testing methodologies and experimentation platforms.
  • Familiarity with taxonomy design, product categorization, and search filtering.

Position Overview

The Operations Leader - Merchandise is responsible for operational execution within the Pet Care Center, through the lens of Petco's vision of \"Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World.\" The Operations Leader - Merchandise promotes and ensures the efficient and effective merchandising and inventory management operations of the Pet Care Center. This leader ensures all merchandise is accurately received, priced, stocked and backroom is maintained per Petco operational standards. This leader ensure the store achieves the Petco established goals and metrics. They are responsible for training, developing, supporting operations scheduling and supporting a high-performing team that delivers top-line sales growth, manages shrink, as well as assists in managing all aspects of the Pet Care Center's business in accordance with Petco operational standards and safety procedures.

Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures. A limited amount of travel will be required.

Contacts

This position has continuous contact with the public at the Pet Care Center and at Pet Care Center -related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and at the Support Centers. Contact outside of PETCO may be required to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, Pet Care Center repairs, coordination of vaccination clinics, Pet Care Center events, vendor meetings, etc.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Discipline
Prior to moving onto the assessment center, candidates' internal affairs blue cards will be reviewed to determine if they are allowed to continue with the promotional process. OPTIONAL PREPARATION MATERIALS:
Virtual (Video-Based) testing preparation materials will be offered for optional viewing in advance of testing. Typically, a link to a written-examination overview video is sent out approximately 4-6 weeks in advance of the written examination administration date. Subsequently, a link to a set of assessment center orientation videos is sent out thereafter. Both links will be up and available for some period to allow for viewing on your own time, at your convenience. The assessment center videos are detailed and lengthy and may be best viewed across several "sessions" to allow you to best understand the information. The assessment center videos will also briefly cover the "Oral Exam", internally referred to as the Internal Promotional Interview and Assessment. TESTING COMPONENTS:

  • The Written Exam is tentatively scheduled for May7, 2026, at the Minneapolis Police Academy located at 4119 Dupont Ave N, Minneapolis, MN. Time is forthcoming. Candidates are expected to be seated and ready to begin the examination on the scheduled time. Candidates who are late will not be permitted to take the written examination.
  • The Written Exam is currently in development, and as a result, the passing score has not yet been determined. The passing score will be determined by the test developer (I/O Solutions). Applicants will be notified of the passing score after the administration of the Written Examination.
Assessment Center (55%)
  • The Assessment Center is tentatively scheduled for June 15- June 19th at the the Minneapolis Convention Center located at 1301 2nd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55403. Times are forthcoming.
  • Only applicants who receive a passing score on the Written Exam will be invited to continue with the Assessment Center process.
  • The Assessment Center will have a passing score as well based on the rating scale employed at the time of the administration. This passing score will be provided to candidates after the administration of the Assessment Center. You will be notified of the passing point and your status within the Assessment Center. No scores will be provided until all components are completed.
Internal Promotional Interview and Assessment or IPIA (20%)
  • The IPIA will be administered at the same time as the Assessment Center.
  • The IPIA is administered via technology and your responses will be video recorded to allow for ratings at a later date.
  • As such, the IPIA will not be evaluated at the time of the Assessment Center administration, nor will the IPIA be evaluated by external law enforcement assessors. The IPIA videos will be reviewed by Human Resources as only those passing the Assessment Center at the designated cut-score will be evaluated.
  • Candidates achieving a passing score on the Assessment Center will have their IPIA videos evaluated by a panel of internal assessors within the MPD.
