Job Description
We are seeking an individual who desires a career in gage calibration. The ideal candidate would have formal calibration training, such as military PMEL, etc., and have at least 3 years military calibration lab experience or 5 years of commercial calibration lab experience.
We desire someone with formal training in electronics, and who can become a "jack-of-all-trades" technician, utilizing strong electronics and mechanical aptitudes. We will consider training a strong candidate with a related background.
Northstar Calibration, Inc. is an ISO 17025 accredited commercial calibration laboratory, located in Owatonna, MN. We are growing and we need additional help to serve our customers. Work is performed in our accredited laboratory in Owatonna, as well as on-site at our customers' manufacturing locations throughout southern Minnesota and the upper Midwest.
Key Responsibilities:
The Calibration Technician provides gage calibration, repair, & servicing on our customers' gaging and measuring devices, including electronic, torque, force, pressure, mass, and dimensional gages. Work includes repairing of dimensional, mechanical, and/or electronic instruments, as well as on-site field service requiring some travel.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Formal calibration training, military PMEL or equivalent preferred; strong electronics and mechanical aptitudes. (required)

Calibration: Assess, test, and calibrate measurement devices following established standards, maintaining accurate readings.
Documentation: Carefully and thoroughly record all laboratory standards, calibration processes, test outcomes, and maintenance to meet quality management systems and external criteria (e.g., ISO 17025).
Process improvement: Work alongside other Central Metrology Technicians and Internal Business Partners to advance metrology techniques and calibration procedures, detect areas needing improvement, and apply solutions.
Training: Deliver instruction and mentorship as required to other technicians and internal business partners regarding metrology and calibration techniques and standard processes.
Troubleshooting: Detect and address inconsistencies in processes and procedures by conducting root cause analysis.

Perform calibrations on a wide range of measuring devices using precision measuring instruments and software, ensuring environmental controls in the lab are adequate before performing calibrations. Detect and communicate any measurement/calibration nonconformities to all interested parties.
Record and document test results, maintenance performed, and any deviations or non-conformities in calibration logs, records, and certificates, ensuring traceability and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Coordinate and arrange the servicing of devices alongside other Central Metrology Technicians to enhance lab operational efficiency. Use organizational and time management abilities to handle workloads and schedules efficiently.
Assist in the development and/or update of calibration procedures and documentation in accordance with National, International, or Industry Standards.
Provide technical aid and advice to colleagues and Internal Business Partners.

Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Calibration Technician / Calibration Compliance Consultant to support the calibration team in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role involves performing equipment calibration, reviewing calibration certificates, and ensuring compliance with GMP and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong metrology or instrumentation calibration experience and be comfortable working in gowned cleanroom environments while performing physical calibration activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on calibration of instruments and equipment used in GMP manufacturing environments.
- Review internal and external calibration certificates to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot and adjust instrumentation during calibration activities.
- Document calibration activities in accordance with SOPs, GMP, and quality standards.

The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing routine and non-routine calibration of instruments and equipment used at the Client's facility. This role ensures that all critical systems operate within specified tolerances and comply with regulatory standards, including FDA, EU, GMP, and ISO guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform scheduled and unscheduled calibrations on a wide range of instruments, including pressure gauges, temperature sensors, balances, pH meters, and cleanroom monitoring devices, among others, and document properly in the CMMS.
· Maintain accurate and complete calibration records in compliance with cGMP and internal quality standards.
· Troubleshoot and resolve calibration issues, including out-of-tolerance (OOT) conditions, and escalate as necessary.
· Support investigations, deviations, CAPA, and change control processes related to calibration activities.
· Ensure calibration standards and reference instruments are maintained and traceable to national/international standards.
· Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by providing calibration documentation and technical support.
· Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure equipment readiness and compliance.
· Follow and contribute to the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to calibration.
· Maintain calibration schedules and ensure timely execution to prevent overdue equipment.
· Adhere to all safety, environmental, and contamination control procedures in sterile and cleanroom environments.
· Assist with calibration SOP revisions.
· Work with data acquisition and validation equipment (e.g., process control equipment/controllers, Dataloggers, DC Analog/Signal Conditioners, and transducers).
· Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair test and measurement equipment in support of new projects.
· Provide on-site calibration support for equipment that is either too sensitive to move or is too large and not feasible to relocate.
· Work overtime when necessary to support high-priority requests or meet project goals.
· Perform preventative maintenance tasks related to calibration activities.
· Maintain a safe work environment; work in a safe manner following all safety SOP’s and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
· Able to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high-pressure liquids and gases, steam, and moving machinery.
· Able to check, respond to, and troubleshoot Equipment Monitoring System (EMS) & Building Management Systems (BMS) issues and alarms.
Basic Qualifications and Capabilities:
· Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field.
· Minimum of 2+ years of calibration experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
· Understanding of calibration principles, metrology, and regulatory compliance (FDA, EU GMP, ISO 17025).
· Excellent documentation and communication skills.
· Proficiency with calibration management systems (e.g., CMMS, Blue Mountain, Maximo)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Calibration Technician A to join our team in Renton, WA.
Position Responsibilities:
Plan, check, set up, and operate, basic and advanced Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) and/or process equipment
Use calibration standards (dimensional, electrical, thermal, and optical) to calibrate, adjust, certify, maintain, and repair M&TE/process equipment using approved calibration procedures, process specifications, equipment drawings, and M&TE /process equipment manufacturer's performance specifications
Conduct routine tests, analyze data and document results
Troubleshoot and recommend resolution of shop floor equipment, laboratory and test-related problems
Route M&TE/process equipment between receiving area, customer, and calibration lab
Coordinate with customers to calibrate stationary equipment while limiting machine downtime
Update equipment status using established systems and complete associated paperwork
Ensure equipment is ready for calibration per metrology processes
Prioritize and perform work according to automated daily report list, hot list, or as assigned by team lead or manager
Perform visual check of M&TE/process equipment for discrepancies and wear
Identify, document, and route non-conforming items in accordance with metrology lab processes
Provide information and clarification to customers on metrology processes
Develop and review new calibration processes and procedures
Perform computations necessary to analyze measurement test results
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience calibrating and/or using Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE)

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
* Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results through root cause analysis to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms
* Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors
* Develops and/or validates calibration methods, techniques, and procedures based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements
* Creates documentation and reporting to adhere to national and/or international testing standards, including ISO17025
* Provides leadership, direction and technical guidance to calibration specialists, technicians and administrative staff
* Provides high-level technical expertise, oversight and project management support for the operations of the Standards Laboratory, Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) related services, and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements for internal and external customers
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field and five years metrology, engineering or operation and maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* At least five years previous experience working in an industry related to calibration and/or M&TE
* Experience performing data collection and calculations for measurement uncertainties
* Expert knowledge in areas of metrology, including Flow, Electrical, Dimensional, and Physical
* Ability to formulate policies and procedures relevant to program areas based on information of a conceptual nature from varied and complex sources
* Demonstrated success gaining an internationally recognized accreditation in calibration and/or testing, including ISO17025, Z540
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use close vision and color vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud. - Create, deploy, and maintain automated system tests;
- Work with Testers to understand defects opened and resolves them in a timely manner;
- Supports continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review;

Qualifications
