Job Summary:

The Subsurface Analyst will join a highly trained team of field specialists responsible for identifying and designating critical subsurface utilities and structural embeds within concrete structures. This role supports safe excavation and construction activities by providing accurate, non-destructive investigations of underground infrastructure.


This position operates within the discipline of non-destructive testing (NDT) and utilizes advanced technologies including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), electromagnetic (EM) pipe locators, and other specialized scanning tools. In addition to performing field investigations, the Subsurface Analyst will capture and document findings to create a digital representation of previously unknown subsurface infrastructure.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform investigative scanning activities on commercial, industrial, and infrastructure job sites.
  • Collect and analyze field data to designate structural embeds including rebar, conduits, post-tension cables, and other structural elements.
  • Locate underground utilities such as sewer, water, communications, gas, and electrical lines.
  • Travel as required for training and service support.
  • Accurately mark scanned areas in accordance with Penhall’s Standard Marking Protocol.
  • Complete comprehensive field documentation including reports, sketches, and photographic records.
  • Partner with site personnel to review and confirm project scope prior to beginning work.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding technology capabilities, limitations, and recommended solutions.
  • Explain investigation results, safety considerations, and recommended next steps to customers.
  • Conduct pre-job and post-job inspections of equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Attend required safety meetings, job briefings, and training sessions.
  • Check in daily with scheduling personnel or supervisors to confirm assignments.
  • Transport and properly secure all tools and equipment necessary for field operations.
  • Assist with the training and development of new analysts when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), or construction scanning preferred
  • Prior experience with GPR, X-ray scanning, utility locating, or concrete scanning services is a plus
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification preferred (may be obtained after hire)


Physical and Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling on job sites
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to travel and drive to various job locations while transporting required equipment

Responsibilities: Candidates for this position will be responsible for the design, engineering and installation of structured cabling systems based on industry and Client standards.

They will work with Client Corporate Real Estate, Client Network Engineering, outside architecture and engineering firms, cabling contractors and electrical contractors in a design-build construction environment.

This person will help define and implement cabling standards, prepare technical specifications and bid documents, identify and select qualified vendors and contractors and will provide technical support and project management from project start to finish.

They will also be responsible for day-to-day management and execution of non-project physical layer activity at Client sites.

The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and activities at the same time and must be able to read and understand technical drawings, floor plans and network diagrams.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction equipment operation utilizing various underground and aerial construction equipment such as directional drills, trencher/plow/rock saw, backhoe, or bucket trucks -OR- current military service, or prior military service with honorable discharge.
  • 1+ years of experience leading construction projects as a crew foreperson or project manager.

Job Details What You’ll Do Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot cabling (CAT3/5/6, fiber, coax), patch panels, and cable management.

Core Responsibilities BMS, Power & Environmental Systems Execution Assist in the installation, configuration and commissioning of BMS/HVAC control systems.

Assist in configuring and supporting Power Monitoring / EPMS systems, including meters, gateways, and networked electrical devices.

Integrate environmental monitoring systems including temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and leak detection.

Configure points, alarms, trends, dashboards, and notifications across BMS and power platforms.

Support integration of third-party systems via multiple protocols.

Cabling, Devices & Field Integration Support and validate low-voltage controls and monitoring cabling (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet, RS-485, sensor wiring).

Coordinate and verify installation of temperature sensors, humidity sensors, water/leak detection cable, flow devices, and power meters.

Troubleshoot signal, polarity, termination, grounding, and communication issues.

Validate device addressing, calibration, and data accuracy.

Startup, Commissioning & Validation Lead point-to-point checks, functional testing, and system startup for BMS, power, and environmental systems.

Validate control sequences, alarm thresholds, and trending through live testing.

Support integrated systems testing in coordination with electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, and commissioning agents.

Identify and resolve issues related to controllers, sensors, meters, networks, and gateways.

Technical Leadership & Coordination Serve as the primary onsite technical lead for controls, power monitoring, and environmental systems.

Coordinate with electricians, low-voltage installers, mechanical contractors, and facility teams.

Provide real-time technical guidance to technicians during installation and startup.

Act as escalation support for system or integration issues.

Documentation & Quality Control Maintain accurate redlines, as-built documentation, point lists, and programming notes.

Verify all monitoring points, alarms, and trends are functional and meaningful.

Support system handoff to operations and service teams with clean documentation.

Ensure systems meet customer standards and are ready for long-term, 24x7 operation.

Experience & Skill Requirements 3–5+ years hands-on experience with BMS / BAS / HVAC controls Strong familiarity with power monitoring, EPMS, and electrical metering concepts Experience working with environmental monitoring systems (leak detection, temperature, humidity, pressure) Solid understanding of HVAC equipment and mechanical room systems Proven field experience with commissioning and troubleshooting live systems Working knowledge of: •BACnet/IP, Modbus, SNMP, RS-485, Ethernet •Controller programming, graphics, and databases •Electrical and low-voltage fundamentals Interested in hearing more? Machine Operator

Hours: 4:45 pm – 5:00 am

Days of the week: Swing shift (2, 2, 3 model) – 36.75 hours one week, 49 hours next week – off every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Work 14 days a month!!!

Location: Bremen, IN

Starting Pay Rate: $21.80 + $1.00 shift differential with multiple automatic increases your first year!

Eligible for full benefits after 30 days!

Qualifications

  • Read and comprehend production SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Set up equipment and ensure production materials are available.
  • Operate the machines and observe them during production. If problems are detected, stop the process and make minor repairs or refer major problems to production leadership and/or maintenance.
  • Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors and managers to achieve productivity and location goals.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.
