Job Summary
- Supports the implementation of the City's communications program, including development of print publications, web content, social media, cable TV programming, and news media.
- Maintains, recommends improvements, and implements changes to the City Constituent Customer Service Portal. Coordinates functions with software vendor and trains City staff on the effective use of the software.
- Responds to customer inquiries regarding City and City programs: screens and prioritizes inquiries, ensuring that questions are responded to by distributing requests to the appropriate City staff or by providing service directly.
- Assists in Council communications including preparation of staff memos, Council presentations and public speaking points.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in researching, writing, publishing, and distributing media releases, City newsletter articles, fact sheets, and public education materials related to City programs and events.
- Drafts and designs brochures, flyers, invitations, and other documents to promote the City and inform the public.
- Conducts story research, script writing, and on-camera stand-up appearances for City produced videos and City cable news programming.
- Writes, edits, proofreads, and uploads content for the City's website including integration of text, images and video.
- Posts and monitors City social media sites and monitors external sites related to City interests.
- Provides planning and logistical support for events such as ribbon cuttings, dedications, and public appearances of City officials and community outreach events.
- Conducts special research projects as needed.

- Serves as backup Public Information Officer during emergencies and disasters working within the City's Emergency Operations Plan.

Demonstrated knowledge and skill in written communications, video production, media relations, development of social media content, and desktop publishing. The Fiber Construction Technician performs the general labor associated with outside plant construction for PON/fiber optic networks. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with the installation of communications facilities (both buried and aerial). Work is performed in accordance with state and local regulations in a safe manner.
This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus! (Payout terms apply)
Training:
As a Fiber Construction Technician, you will have the opportunity to obtain a Class A CDL through our in-house training program. You will attend safety training at one of our new facilities where you will also be trained on Pole Climbing and Bucket Trucks. On-the-job training includes exposure to various construction equipment including Directional Drill Rigs, Mini Excavators, Trenchers, and Locators. Fiber optic training includes Fusion Splicing, Fault Detection, and exposure to OTDRs and other advanced testing equipment.
The duration of training varies based on the team assignment. Training for underground teams is 3 weeks, with an additional 1 week required for aerial training. Depending on factors such as market needs, prior skills, and team size, some individuals may only complete underground training, while others may undergo the full 4-week program, including aerial training.

Responsibilities:
- Performs general construction labor in various weather conditions while utilizing safety fundamentals.
- Assists with and performs the transportation of required construction equipment to and from the worksite.

- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.

The role of Master Control Operator is responsible for operating the multi-channel and multi-brand control point for Sinclair Television Stations located in Chattanooga, TN.
Duties include, but are not limited to, Live event operations, graphics insertion, playlist manipulation, and monitoring on-air quality of the TV Station to ensure all content airs accurately and reflects the traffic and programming schedules.

In this role, you will: Perform preventive maintenance and hands-on troubleshooting of a wide array of video, audio, and IT equipment—both on-site and at remote production locations.
Maintain and update broadcast IP-based systems, including software, hardware, and LAN applications across the facility.
Support and train engineering staff on Avid systems, automation platforms, production control, master control, transmission, and digital operations center workflows.
Respond to technical issues involving broadcast or computer systems—including during off-hours and emergencies.
Ensure all software systems remain updated and compliant with licensing and corporate IT security standards.
Uphold a high standard of engineering practices by adhering to OSHA safety rules, installing equipment per CAD designs, executing clean cable management and labeling, and maintaining comprehensive documentation and SOPs.
Collaborate with leadership on future infrastructure planning, budgeting, and equipment upgrades.
Provide flexible shift coverage based on production needs—including early mornings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and swing shifts.
Travel periodically to support remote productions and live tennis tournaments throughout the year.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $98,000 to $150,000.
Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.

If you have exeprience with horizontal directional drilling or locating for the drill, and want to be based close to home, this role is for you. This position is full‑time, year‑round, with a few weeks travel required for training.
Pay Transparency
The pay for this position ranges from *$22.62 to $41.42 per hour. *The listed pay range reflects the minimum and maximum base salary. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- 6+ months experience in any combination of the following areas: customer service, electrical or utility construction, -OR-technical certification (or higher) -OR- current military service, or prior military service with honorable discharge.
- Must follow the TDS attendance guidelines in order to meet TDS’s business needs including but not limited to our obligations to our customers and to our customers’ needs.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.
Other Qualifications
- Must have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL. A current CDL is preferred at hire, but TDS will train and certify eligible associates through its in-house CDL certification program after hire.
- Physical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed. Ability to kneel, dig, lift, and pull.
- Upon hire, must successfully pass all components of the Safety Training course curriculum.
- Upon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check administered by the customer.
- Horizontal directional drilling experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of telecommunication products and services.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- May require occasional travel.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed. May be required to work various/swing shifts as business needs dictate.
- Must be able to operate vehicles with manual transmissions.
