What We’re Looking For: Education Background: High school diploma or equivalent.

Relevant Experience : Minimum 2 years of mortgage lending experience with regular Member interaction.

Knowledge: Proven knowledge of residential mortgage products, lending regulations, underwriting, credit analysis, and financial documentation.

Communications : Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a Member-service mindset.

The current full-time salary range for this position is $75,301 to $199,722. Starting salary will be commensurate with highest degree, past college-level teaching experience, relevant industry experience and equity within the department.

Percent time:
11%-33% instructors teaching one course with three hours of lecture per week will normally be appointed at 33% time during the semester; exact percentages depend on contact hours and other assigned duties.

Anticipated start:
Fall semester (only) 8/1/26 - 12/31/26

Spring semester (only) 1/1/27 - 5/31/27

Academic-year appointments 7/1/26 - 6/30/27

Position description

The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in our department should an opening arise. These are not tenure-track positions - selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Instructors teaching one course with three hours of lecture per week will normally be appointed at 33% time during the semester; exact percentages depend on contact hours and other assigned duties. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions typically include managing and supporting Graduate Student Instructors, holding office hours, running laboratories and demonstrations, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus) and maintaining a course website.



UC Lecturers are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.
