Job Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine

Responsibilities
- Assist in directing and coordinating activities in the Anesthesia Department as a locum tenens anesthesiologist
- Provide perioperative medical management for patients undergoing anesthesia for surgery and procedures
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments and obtain/verify patient consent
- Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and perioperative plans with patients and families
- Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, including regional blocks when indicated
- Monitor patients’ physiological status and perform clinical interventions as needed
- Supervise CRNAs according to facility protocols (4:1 ratio; MDs do not do their own cases) — CRNA supervision experience preferred
- Support quality improvement initiatives, maintain accurate documentation, and promote patient safety
- Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and perioperative staff to ensure efficient OR flow and high-quality anesthesia care

The current full-time salary range for this position is $75,301 to $199,722. Starting salary will be commensurate with highest degree, past college-level teaching experience, relevant industry experience and equity within the department.
Percent time:

Position description
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in our department should an opening arise. These are not tenure-track positions - selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Instructors teaching one course with three hours of lecture per week will normally be appointed at 33% time during the semester; exact percentages depend on contact hours and other assigned duties. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions typically include managing and supporting Graduate Student Instructors, holding office hours, running laboratories and demonstrations, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus) and maintaining a course website.
UC Lecturers are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.

- Identify ways to improve operations including reducing expenses, managing inventory, and increasing efficiency and productivity
- Meet the established goals for productivity by making sure that individual and departmental tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of previous experience leading a team
- Computer skills
